My Mystery Birthday Card

My Mystery Birthday Card - a card with a manson and butler on it
My Mystery Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here to share My Mystery Birthday Card using the Murder Mystery Set by Kindred Stamps! Last week was my Hubby’s birthday! So, I decided to create for him an explosion light up card with characters from one of our favourite movies! Clue! I just knew he would get a kick out of my card!

The Details of My Mystery Birthday Card

For my card, I wanted to include all the characters on his card. So, I decided to put Wadsworth with a wrench hidden behind him on the front. The wrench was an extra one that I picked up at a game store selling one off pieces for board games. So fun! The other characters would go inside my card.

First, I coloured all the characters with my Copic markers using the movie for reference. I added glossy accents to the knife, wrench, candlestick and revolver. I also used my Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen on the earrings of Mrs. Peacock and Miss Scarlett, and the belt buckle for Mrs. White.

Front of Card

Time to put everything together! The 13th Hour Paper Pad by Kaiser Craft was perfect to create my spooky scene on the front with its embossed tree branches! I added behind my Mansion a glow in the dark moon with Crushed Curry ink brushed along the edges.

Next, I added So Saffron Vellum behind the windows of my Masion thus allowing the light to shine through when the EZ Light was activated. I die cut a hill and embossed it with the “push here” instructions. The hill allowed me to hide my light mechanism behind it. To decorate my card front, I added a couple of black glimmer bats and the wrench. The finishing touch was to add my coloured Wadsworth.

Inside of Card

Since I wanted to include a Clue boardgame on the inside, I searched online for a free printable one and found it on Pinterest. Have to love the internet for things like that! I pulled it into Microsoft Word, scaled it to 8” x 8” and printed it out on copy paper.

Once that was done, I folded the “boardgame” to create my explosion mechanism by following the instruction by Karen Titus. This was adhered directly to the card base.

Since the card was so bulky already, I adhered my characters directly to the “boardgame” by strategically placing them away from the folds. For a fun accent, I added a magnifying glass trinket to the centre of my board.

I used two sentiments from the stamp sets to complete my card on the inside.
