Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Goth Family Portrait for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. This card incorporates 4 different digital stamps that include Goth Dad, Goth Mom, Goth Boy and Goth Girl from the October New Release to create my family portrait!

When I was little, I loved to watch the Addams Family in B&W on TV. I was so excited when I saw this month’s release! I decided to colour the family in the colours from the Addams Family movies. So, I gave them very pale skin, but with dark clothing using only T Copic Markers to achieve the effect. I love the pop of colour with the rose and the alligator. I thought they would want to have their portrait taken in front of some of their ancestors that are hung on the wall. Being a Halloween card, you have to have spider webs with spiders in the corners. I hope you like my take on my family portrait!

Spooky Double Z-Fold Halloween Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Spooky Double Z-Fold Halloween Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I had so much fun colouring with my Copic Markers these cuties from the Spooky House Set (7 Stamps). This set comes with 7 stamps including 6 characters and a haunted house. I used the digital stamps, but this set also comes in rubber and can be found in the store here.

I had a ton of fun creating this spooky double z-fold card for our trick-or-treaters who are out roaming around! Do they dare go to the eerily spooky house on the hill??? The pirate and the ghost are headed that way!

Spooky Double Z-Fold Halloween Card Flat

Techniques Used in My Spooky Double Z-Fold Halloween Card

To create my spooky night sky, I used a technique called the Copic Galaxy Background. For the galaxy stars, I used my Tim Holtz Distress Splatter Brush. I also used a White Gelly Roll Pen and the Colorless Blender, to make my some of my stars appear brighter/closer.

Next I used Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin and Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink Pads with a Round Blending Tool to create my glowing moon on a stitched circle die. Using the Splatter Brush again, I splattered water onto the moon to give a bit of texture once it was dry.

I love the Spooky House that comes with this set! I had fun colouring it, especially those glowing windows and doorway! In addition to colouring them, I use a paint brush and painted a thin layer of Apple Sour Nuvo Glow Drops. I wanted the details of the broken panes of glass and the spider to still be seen, but when you turn out the lights, the windows and door glow spookily.

That’s Amore Anniversary Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my That’s Amore Anniversary Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. This sweet rubber stamp is called Italian Love. I coloured this cute couple to look like my Hubby and me since this card is for my Hubby and our 26^th Wedding Anniversary which is today.

This card is my homage to when we first met and started dating in university. The first time I saw him, he was just back from a vacation in Florida. He was so tanned with his hair bleached from the sun. Hence why he is a little more tanned than me in my colouring. Lol! My hubby’s favourite dinner is spaghetti and meatballs. When we were dating, he would take me to Mother’s Pizza Parlour and Spaghetti House with their plastic red and white checked tablecloths for dinner. He would always order his spaghetti with a garlic bread with cheese. We never split it like the couple here, but that would have been so romantic!

My Sweet Wishes Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Sweet Wishes Birthday Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. This cute digital stamp is called Baker Ellie Digital Stamp. I coloured her with my Copic Markers to look like me since this card was for a friend who is an amazing baker. I figured this was as close to me baking her a cake as was possible! Lol!

Mary, my friend, makes the best cakes and cake pops! They are just to die for! So, I knew that I wanted a Designer Series Paper that had lots of cakes on it. And of course, you need all the accoutrements for baking like a whisk, a rolling pin and an icing bag! Don’t you just love the little muffin pan charm with the paper flowers surrounding it!

My Happy Hanukkah Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Happy Hanukkah Card! Did you see the cute new release by Paper Nest Dolls called Hanukkah Set? It comes with Mini Owen with Torah, Mini Emma with Challah, a menorah, a dreidel and the Star of David. I was so happy to see such cute Hanukkah images! They are so hard to find.

We have friends who have two little boys that I send cards to every year. So, I knew that I wanted to colour up two of the boys to represent them for my Happy Hanukkah Card. I can definitely see the younger one wanting a Torah scroll just like his big brother’s one! Lol!

I love the elegant combination of silver and blue together. So, I made them my colour scheme for my card with lots of silver accents! Since I didn’t have any Hanukkah paper, I created my own paper using a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp that I already had. It is quite striking with the shimmery silver Delicata ink on the Night of Navy card stock. For the center piece with the Menorah and Star of David, I created a sponged background of Night of Navy and Balmy Blue ink. I then splattered water and Silver Wink of Stella to add texture to it.

My Merry & Bright Card Using Holiday Gifts Avery from Paper Nest Dolls

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Do you ever create non-traditional coloured Christmas cards? I couldn’t resist colouring the sweet Holiday Gifts Avery Digital Stamp in non-traditional pinks and purples for My Merry & Bright Christmas Card. Wouldn’t this stamp in these colours be a great winter birthday too! For this card, I added lots of bling with the glimmer paper snowflakes and snow bank and a ton of rhinestones. I always thought you can never have too much bling for a Christmas card! The sentiment pieces from the Doodlebug Chit Chat were a perfect complement to the card and don’t you just love the wooden present accent.

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I had so much fun creating my Peace on Earth Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls for the Shop@Home Christmas in July Expo that was on the weekend. This sweet stamp is called Holiday Friends. I went with a shabby chic distressed look using my distressing tool on all the papers. To add to this look, I also added Shabby White Embossing Enamel for sparkle and snow. I used my Marvy Snow Marker to create the puffed-up snow. My handmade poinsettias tie in the red colour of her dress and hat! Hope you like my PND Christmas in July card!

Christmas in July

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Christmas in July Design Team Cards for Paper Nest Dolls! You get two cards for the price of one in this post! I love making cards for Christmas in July! It’s a good way for me to get a head start on all the Christmas cards that I make each year and what better way than with these cuties! Who else loves making cards for Christmas in July?

For the first card, I used the adorable Elf Sewing Teddy Digital Stamp. I couldn’t resist using a thimble, scissors and bobbin for sewing embellishments. And check out that sweet bear button! I used Stitched Rectangle Dies, a stitched felt star…even the paper has stitches on it! Do you see a theme here? Lol! I added some sparkle with the red rhinestones and White Baker’s Twine with red metallic thread.

For my next card. I used Elf Painting Train Digital Stamp. Such a cute stamp with his toy train and cars! He was a lot of fun to match my colouring of the other elf! Of course, all of Santa’s Elves have to have the same uniform! I thought the train and train cars from the All Aboard Die Set from Local King Rubber Stamp were perfect for the card! Of course, you need stars and black rhinestones to decorate the train! I also added a copper snowflake with jingle bells and the same White Baker’s Twine with red metallic thread.

Life is a Mermaid!

It’s Laurie here with my Life is a Mermaid! Design Team Card using the Mermaid Set from Paper Nest Dolls! I have been wanting to create a Bendi Card forever and thought it would create a perfect scene for these cuties! I had so much fun creating this card! So, without further ado, here is my very first ever Bendi Card!

What is great about a Bendi card is that it folds flat so that you can mail it. When it is flat, and you can really see all the layers and the cute mermaids poking out between them.

Measurements:

Bermuda Bay Card Base: 5 ½ x 5 ½
Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper: 5 3/8” x 5 3/8“ – Cut a vertical slit at 4″ from the left where the waves piece will tuck into the card base
Whisper White for sand dollars, shell and coral
Crumb Cake for Sand: 5” ½ x 5/8” and Shells: 5 ½” x 1 ½” – adhere these 2 pieces together, score ¼” on right side and cut a tab into left side by ¼”

Bermuda Bay for waves 5 ½” x 1 ½” (3 pieces) and scraps for grasses – Adhere these 3 pieces together, score ¼” on left side and cut a tab into right side by ¼”. Cut a vertical slit at 2″ from the left where the sand piece will tuck into the waves

Hi Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie again with my Mer-Message in a Bottle Card for the Paper Nest Dolls’ Design Team. It is using using the sweet Curly Haired Mermaid from Paper Nest Dolls’ Mermaid Set. I had so much fun colouring her with my Copic Markers, especially all those curls, and creating this underwater scene with my Distressed Oxides.

My Slim Line Card Using Paper Nest Dolls Mermaid Set

Life is a MerMay Party! I was asked by Paper Nest Dolls to become a permanent Design Team Member! Yahoo! I am so honoured to have been asked to join such a talented Design Team!

So, here is my first card as a Design Team Member. For this card, I wanted to create a slim line card since they are all the rage right now. This card measures 4″ x 9 1/4″ which will fit into a regular Number 10 envelope (4 1/8″ x 9 1/2″). I had so much fun colouring this cute underwater scene using most of the May Release digital images from the Mermaid Set.
