Father’s Day Alternative Card - A Fancy Fold Father's Day Card
My Father’s Day Alternative Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Father’s Day Alternative Card using the Lakeside Retreat April 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit by Stampin’ Up! I made a total of 5 alternative cards that were all fun folds.

For my card, I was inspired by a video that Connie Stewart from Simply Simple Stamping did recently, but I decided to use this Paper Pumpkin. If you wish to find out more about her cards, please click here.

The Details of My Father’s Day Alternative Card

I really enjoyed making this card my own by using the Paper Pumpkin Kit! I built the card exactly to Connie’s Instructions using Pecan Pie to match my papers, but from there I changed things up.

For the front Mini Card, I used a piece of the wood grain card base as my background. Then, I stamped my sentiment in the sentiment piece provided in the kit. This was mounted onto the Pecan Pie Board Ephemera. Next, I built my chair using some scraps of Country Woods DSP and added Peaceful Pine accessories. I thought having the sign hang from one of the oars ephemera would look neat.

For the Dock Scene, I stamped the birds and the bullrushes and added the Self-adhesive pebble embellishments. To balance this, I added the trimmed down strip of plaid included in the Kit.

The beach scene was trimmed down, stamped with the birds and adhered to the inside of the Mini Card.

For the inside of my card, I added a trimmed down Plaid Card Base on one side and a strip of Envelope on the other. The “Relax” sentiment from the Relaxing Waterside Bundle and the bullrushes were stamped on the Basic White Mini Card.

Next, I stamped the larger Basic White with more bullrushes and another sentiment from the Relaxing Waterside Bundle to complete my card within a card.

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Dutch Door Alternative Card using the Lakeside Retreat April 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit by Stampin’ Up! I made a total of 5 alternative cards that were all fun folds.

The Details of My Dutch Door Alternative Card

For my alternative card, I thought I would make a fun Dutch Door card. The scene on the circle that comes in the Kit was perfect for this type of card!

So, I cut and scored my Basic White card bases according to the measurements below. I adhered the smaller piece to the inside of the larger piece making sure to line up the centre panel with the bottom. Once you add the mat and sentiment piece to the inside, you will not notice the seam.

Next, I trimmed down my card bases and matted them with 1/8” mat of Misty Moonlight. I loved how the mat adds a nice finishing touch.

Then, I adhered the scene to the Pecan Pie mat the came in the Kit. This was popped up on the top flap. I stamped and added the sentiment from the Relaxing Waterside Bundle. I die cut the Adirondak chair from the Relaxing Waterside Dies using Pecan Pie Two-Tone Cardstock. This allowed me to use the two different sides to add visual interest. One for the seat and the lighter side for the chair back. I slightly overlapped the finished chair with the sentiment. The life jacket was popped up and used to balance out the chair.

For the inside, I stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Kit. The bullrushes from the Kit were stamped full and then off twice to add dimension. This was then matted onto a Misty Moonlight 1/8” mat to mirror the mats on the front.

All that was left was to add the Faux Bronze Pentagons.

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Triple Step Faux Alternative Card using the Lakeside Retreat April 2026 Paper Pumpkin Kit by Stampin’ Up! I made a total of 5 alternative cards that were all fun folds.

My Template

For this alternative card, I saw a video that made a triple faux step card that was 5” x 7”, but I wanted to make an A2 version. So, I created my own by designing a template using a recycled paper bag.

My Template using paper bag
My Template

I started with a three step card base and scored it according to the measurements below. Then, I went with a regular 3” wide central panel, but I trimmed the 8 ½” height down by 1/8” since the front sits inside the first step. This allowed it to fit into a regular envelope. Otherwise, it would be too tall…I learned this from trial and by error. Lol! This central panel was scored in half. The two side panels were 1” wide and scored according to the measurements below. This gives you a very slight gap between all the panels when adhered to the card base.

My Card Base Before Adding Details
My Card Base Before Adding Details

The Details of My Triple Faux Step Alternative Card

Now that I had all my card base pieces cut and scored, I decorated them with the Scene Card Base from the Paper Pumpkin Kit, But you could use the Waterside Retreat DSP instead. I used both the front and back of the card base from the Kit.

For the front scene, I trimmed ¼” off the bottom of the card front. I wanted more sky to show in the central panel while allowing the scenes to line up across the panels. Then, I trimmed ¾” off each side which left the 2 ¾” for the central part. Next, I trimmed down each panel to the height I wanted using the measurements below.

Left Side of Card
Left Side of Card

For the Plaid Card Back, I turned it horizontally to cut my pieces for the front of the steps. I was able to get the two larger pieces cut from the back. The front step was the plaid strip that was included in the kit trimmed down to fit (¾” x 5 ¼”).

Next, I embossed the Peaceful Pine strips for the back of the steps with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. I also matted all my “scenes” and “plaid” pieces with a 1/8” mat of Peaceful Pine card stock.

Top View of Card

Now, that all my pieces were cut, I stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment and the birds on the central panel using the Kit’s Stamp Set. I also stamped the “This is Your Day” Sentiment and the inside using the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set.

Left Side of Card

Then, I adhered all the pieces together including the inside pieces. Note: Adhere the back of the central panel to the back of large step and the front to the front of the middle step. Adhere small panels to back of the middle step and to the front of the small step.

Finally, I die cut the Adirondak chair from the Relaxing Waterside Dies using Pecan Pie Two-Tone Cardstock. This allowed me to use the two different sides to add visual interest. One for the seat and the lighter side for the chair back. I added some Peaceful Pine accents to the chair to tie in my colour scheme. In addition to this, I added some Garden Green bullrushes with darker Pecan Pie cattails.

The Details of My Bee-cuz I Said Hi!

I loved this cutie and had fun colouring him with my Copic markers! In fact, I used a technique where I added some Colourless Blender to an old towel and then dab it to the coloured image. This created a textured effect that looked like fur. I just needed to make sure I didn’t over saturate the towel and press too long. Otherwise the ink might bleed out of the lines.

A technique using Comic blender to add texture to fur

Once he was coloured, I used a stencil, Pool Party Ink and my Blending Brushed to create clouds around him. For the bee’s flight pattern, I used a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen to make it shimmer. Then, I die cut him out with layered Stitched Dies with a Pool Party Mat.

The Cute As Can Bee Designer Series Paper was perfect for my bee theme. And I loved the bright colours! Reminded me that Spring is just around the corner!

The printed sentiment was trimmed down and matted with a Petunia Pop mat. To balance the sentiment, I added some stitched honeycomb dies in the opposite corner with another one behind the sentiment.

A finishing touch was a scattering of Mini Bee Trinkets.

Farmhouse Florals Alternative Cards 2

Farmhouse Florals Alternative Cards-Set 2 - 4 hello cards
Farmhouse Florals Alternative Cards 2

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing the second set of my Farmhouse Florals Alternative Cards using the Floral Farmhouse August 2025 Paper Pumpkin Kit by Stampin’ Up! I made a total of 8 alternatives and thought to split them into 2 posts. So, I decided to group all the typewriter cards together for my second post. I will link the other post at the end.

But, first, here are the three cards that the kit makes. The Farmhouse Florals Paper Pumpkin brings a playful twist to classic blooms, featuring hand-painted flowers arranged in unexpected places. These versatile cards are perfect for thank-you notes or sending sweet messages any time of year. With whimsical designs full of rustic character, each card feels like a little surprise!

The Details of My Farmhouse Florals Alternative Cards – Set 2

My Z-Fold Flip-Flap Card

For my first alternative card of this set, I created a z-fold card with a flip-flap on the front. Since the typewriter was small, I thought a small flip-flap would be a good way to highlight it. I used my Subtles Embossing Folder to emboss the front of the card base and then folded it in half at 2-1/8”.

Once that was time, it was time to build my focal point. I used the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper for another card and decided to use it again to with a Secret Sea mat to anchor my flip-flap. This DSP goes perfectly with the Kit!

A hello card with a fun fold
My Z-Fold Flip-Flap Card

For the flip-flap, I used a 3” Lost Lagoon Card base on which I added a piece of Secret Sea that was embossed with the Subtles Folder. On the front, I used the Circle of Seasons Dies for the circle cut from an envelope, the Lost Lagoon “hello” and the Calypso Coral flowers.

For the inside, I stamped a piece of envelope, matted it with Secret Sea and added a strip of the printed envelope for my background. Upon this, I added the typewriter with the stamped Just a note. For a pop of colour, I added the yellow flowers.

Next, I added a stamped piece on the inside using scraps from an envelope and a Lost Lagoon mat. I made this the same size at the front so that it was a surprise when it was opened.

The finishing touch was to add some small pearls to the centre of my flowers on the front.

Measurements:

  • Card base (from Kit):
    • 4 ¼” x 5 ½” scored at 2-1/8”
  • Secret Sea:
    • 4” x 3-3/8”
    • 2-7/8” x 2-7/8” (2 pieces)
  • Lost Lagoon:
    • 6” x 3” scored at 3”
    • 4” x 3-3/8” (Inside)
    • Scrap for “hello”
  • Envelope:
    • 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” (Circle)
    • 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” (Flap)
    • 3-7/8” x 3 ¼” (Inside)

  • Other Pieces from Kit:
    • Typewriter Precut Paper Piece
    • Typewriter Note
    • Yellow Floral Precut Paper Piece
    • Envelope Pieces

My Love Note Card

For my second alternative card using the Farmhouse Florals Kit, I decided to create a card using one of the typewriter card bases from the kit. The printed card bases allowed me to create 4 alternative cards instead of the 2 cards left in the kit. Have to love when you can make more cards by just adding some card stock to the existing kit!

A card with a typewriter and a love note
My Love Note Card

I trimmed down the card base from the kit to fit it onto my Lost Lagoon card base. I added a small border of Secret Sea to the top of my card to balance out the bottom printed border. Next, I added the “hello” from the Circle of Seasons Dies. To give it dimension, I die cut it 3 times and glued them together. I thought adding it to where the paper in the typewriter was, gave it a whimsical touch. I stamped the sentiment and tied it with the twine through the “o” of the “hello”. The only other thing was to add some of the floral clusters pre-cut pieces around the “hello”.

Measurements:

  • Lost Lagoon Card base:
    • 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”
  • Secret Sea:
    • ¼” x 4 ¼”
  • Calypso Coral:
    • Scraps
  • Other Pieces from Kit:
    • Floral Precut Paper Pieces
    • Sentiment Piece
    • Twine

My Pop-Up Lunch Note Card

For my next alternative card using Farmhouse Foral August 2025 Paper Pumpkin Kit, I made a Pop-Up Lunch Note Card. I shared this card at the beginning of September when school was starting as something to pop into a lunch bucket for the first day of school. It was a big hit, and I was asked for measurements. So, I thought I would add it to my list of cards.

A small hello note card
My Pop-Up Lunch Note Card

This card is very similar to the Flip-Flap of my first card, but this card came first! Lol! I used my Subtles Folder to emboss the Lost Lagoon on the front. Next, I added the die cut circle using scraps from an envelope, the Secret Sea die cut “hello”, the stamped sentiment and yellow flowers with the twine.

Inside of Card
Inside of Card

For the inside, I thought a fun pop-up typewriter with an encouraging sentiment from the Sunrise Sailing Stamp Set would be fun! I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of white envelope and added a scrap of the printed blue envelop to the top. All this was matted onto a piece of Lost Lagoon. Next, I created a very simple mechanism for my typewriter (see measurements below). To add a bit of colour, I used some of the floral pre-cut pieces.

My For You Card

For my last alternative card, I decided to make it simple and just add a Darling Duckling “hello”, stamped the sentiments and added my last floral pre-cut piece with a twine bow. Easy Peasy!

Hello Sweet Friend Card

Hello Sweet Friend Card - a card with a rabbit and butterfly sitting on a mushroom
Hello Sweet Friend Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Hello Sweet Friend Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the Hello Little Friend Bundle. This Bundle includes 5 images:

  • Title 1: Hello Little Friend JPG format only
  • Titles 2, 3: Mushrooms JPG/PNG format
  • Titles 4, 5: Sentiment: Hello Sweet Friend PNG/JPG format

The Details of My Hello Sweet Friend Card

I love this sweet image by Conie Fong and had fun colouring it with my Copic markers. Then, I added Wink of Stella to the butterfly wings to make them shimmer.

Since the scene was so large, I decided to use it for most of my card front with only a few die cuts as accents. So, I had the Mini Fanciful Flourish overlapping my main focal point as if nature is cradling the scene. A vellum die cut butterfly was the other accent that I added to mirror the butterfly in the scene.

For my papers, I went with some DSP from my stash that had a mushroom theme. Perfect for my scene.

The finishing touch was to add some Red Rhinestones for sparkle.

True North Canada Card

True North Canada Card - a Happy Canada Day Card with a girl, beaver and boy on it.
True North Canada Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Happy Canada Day! It’s Laurie here to share my True North Canada Card using the True North Strong & Free Stamp Set by Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps.

The Details of My True North Canada Card

For my card, I had a lot of fun colouring with my Copic Markers the beaver, the leaves and these cuties. In fact, I coloured the girl and boy to match my hubby and me! Once that was done, I cut them out with my Brother Scan n’ Cut.

The O Canada 2 papers by PhotoPlay were perfect for my Canadian themed card! They even had matching ephemera that I used for the wording. This made making my card a breeze!

I added Wink of Stella to all the maple leaves including their shirts to make them shimmer. I also added Black Gelly Roll Pen to the beaver’s nose.

For embellishments, I added some red rhinestones to tie in my colour scheme.

My Kitty Birthday Card

My Kitty Birthday Card - a birthday card with a cat floating with balloons
My Kitty Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Kitty Birthday Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the cute Cat With Balloons. I coloured this image twice a while back and I finally made a card for him! Lol! I will post the other card that I made using this image at the end of this post.

The Details of My Kitty Birthday Card

For my card, I decided to use the Everyday Skies Designer Series Paper with the Everyday Arches Dies by Stampin’ Up! for my sky. But first I coloured this cutie with my Copic markers. I added Wink of Stella to the balloons to make them shimmer.

Next, I added dimension with layers of stitched clouds behind my arched focal point on the orange background piece. I even added more clouds on my focal point behind the Kittie.

The sentiment was die cut out with a stitched flag die to match the stitching on the arches.

The final touch was to add some Adhesive-Backed Birds to my scene and another one to the orange DSP.

The Details of My Mermazing Day Card

For my card, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and colour with my Copic markers Rosealea in oranges. I don’t usually use orange in my colouring. But since there was a lot going on in the background, I thought it would make her pop from my shaker card and match the orange fish in the background DSP.

The Waves Die by Spellbinders was a new purchase, and it went perfectly with my mermaid theme!  Since the die took up the whole card front with lots of peek through holes, I decided to create a shaker card.

To create my focal point, I added behind Rosealea gold foil coral and some vellum seaweed. Rosealea and the seaweed helped lead your eye up to the sentiment.

Next, I adhered a scattering of gold shell sequins from the Sea Sequins to the front of my card, along with some blue sequins from the Stardust Sequins to tie in my colour scheme.

Finally, to add some sparkle, I used Clear Wink of Stella on her tail and Glossy Accents on the pearls in her hair.

My Flutterby Birthday Card

My Flutterby Birthday Card - a birthday card with a fairy sitting on a flower looking at butterflies
My Flutterby Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Flutterby Birthday Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the sweet Flutterby Daisy.

This purchase includes 5 Images:

  • Image 1 & 2: Flutterby Daisy (Girl facing right/left) JPEG format
  • Image 3: Flutterby Daisy – without daisy flower
  • Sentiment 1: Fluttering by with a friendly hi
  • Sentiment 2: Enjoy the simple things

The Details of My Flutterby Birthday Card

For my card, I decided that I wanted to use Flutterby Daisy facing left with her daisy. I loved colouring her and her daisy with my Copic markers in bright cheery colours to match my Mintay papers. Flutterby comes with one butterfly, but I thought a couple of extra butterflies would add a touch of fun to my card!

Close Up of Fairy
Close Up of Flutterby

I found this beautiful Daisy Circle Frame a while back and thought it would be perfect for the backdrop of Flutterby! So, I die cut it in a colour that matched my colouring of her daisy and the papers.

Since I wanted to create a birthday card, I used the sentiment from the Dandelion Wishes stamp. Perfect for a fairy birthday card! Though I did use “Fluttering by with a friendly hi” for the inside of my card.

Next, I added a butterfly die cut border of the Mintay papers along the bottom of the card with it overlapping the daisy in places hiding the stem end of the coloured daisy.

Finally, the finishing touch was a scattering of Berry Burst Shimmer Gems around my card.

My Retirement Wishes Card

My Retirement Wishes Card - A retirement card with a trailer and a sunrise in the background
My Retirement Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Retirement Wishes Card using the Paradise Palms Stamp Set and the Tree Lot Dies by Stampin’ Up! with a beautiful Distressed Oxide Inks sunrise. I had a lot of fun creating this card for a friend who is retiring. She is planning to go touring for the summer with her trailer. So, I decided to create a fun pink (she is a pink kind of person) trailer on her card.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to go with a mini slimline design so that I could really show off a beautiful sunrise with the Distress Oxide inks. Especially since this is all about driving off into the sunset to enjoy retirement!

Using my Blending Brushes, I blended the sky colours together in the order of Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, Broken China and Faded Jeans on a piece of Basic White card stock. Once that was done, I created a Crumb Cake sand hill with one of the Slimline Stitched Hillside Border Dies. I used this for placement as I stamped my palm trees and seagulls in Early Espresso onto my sky piece. Next, I adhered the sand hill down and die cut everything at the same time with a mini slimline stitched die.

Close Up of Sunset

The sentiment was stamped in Black Onyx Versafine Ink and die cut with one of the flags from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Since I wanted this to hang over the edge of the sky piece and match up with my Basic White mat, I used my Paper Snips to cut off the edge.

Now, it was time to build my trailer with all the different dies. I loved this cute trailer once it was built! I also couldn’t resist adding some Pretty in Pink glimmer flags to match the trailer since we were celebrating!

Finally, the finishing touch was a couple of Pretty in Pink Shimmer Gems placed around my sentiment.

My Happy Bee-Day Card

My Happy Bee-Day Card - a little girl in a bee outfit with a large honey pot beside her.
My Happy Bee-Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Happy Bee-Day Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Lil Bee Amara! Isn’t she a cutie in her bee outfit with her little bee friend!

The Details of My Happy Bee-Day Card

For my card, I decided to use the Let It Bee Paper by Graphic 45. It was perfect for my bee theme with sunflowers and bees on it! Plus, all the words about bees made it a must!

Next, I coloured Amara and her sunflowers with my Copic markers. I had a lot of fun colouring her beautiful skin tone and her hair with all those curls!

I knew that I wanted to use the honey pot die with her. So, I die cut the honeycomb paper for the jar and decided to keep the top as Cherry Cobbler card stock so that her bee friend would show up well. The bee crystal sticker was from my stash and had been waiting for the perfect card. It fit perfectly on the honey pot letting everyone know it had honey in it.

For my card base, I used the Honeycomb Quilt Top Dies by Concord & 9th to add interest. I also tucked in some Honeycomb Clusters behind the honey pot.

The sentiment was heat embossed in white on Basic Black card stock and die cut out.

Finally, I added a scattering of red rhinestones and a paper sunflower to mirror my colour scheme and theme. I used Star Dust Stickles on the sunflower centres and her Bee Antenna-Headband and Clear Wink of Stella on her wings.

Just Me and My Puppy

Just Me and My Puppy - a card with a girl holding a puppy and and ice cream cone
Just Me and My Puppy

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! It is starting to feel like summer! So, I am sharing Just Me and My Puppy as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Emmas Sweet Friend enjoying an ice cream cone together!

The Details of Just Me and My Puppy

I just love this sweet digital stamp which reminded me of my puppy So, I coloured him with my Copic markers to look like my Jesse Pup. To match Jesse, I coloured Emma to look like me so that my card looked like my puppy and me! So fun!

For my card, I decided to use the Pampered Pooch Collection by Photo Play with its bright colours and puppy theme. Even the sentiment “furrever friends” is a sticker from that collection.

Next, I added a die cut white wooden fence using the Wood Textured Specialty Paper to add some interest to the background and balance out my card.

Since they are sharing an ice cream cone, I thought I would build a double scooped one with sprinkles and a heart rhinestone that I coloured red with my Copic marker. I even coloured the punched-out ice cream with my Copic markers to give it definition.

To balance out the ice cream cone, I added a MDF heart with a paw print inside which I placed beside my sentiment and layered a die cut heart beneath it.

Finally, for embellishments, I added a scattering of red rhinestones and used Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen for the dog tag.

Birthday Shellabration Card

Birthday Shellabration Card - a birthday card with a girl listening to a shell
Birthday Shellabration Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Birthday Shellabration Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the beautiful Seashell Rosealea. I love this image so much I have used her for another card awhile back. I will include a link at the end of this post to my other card.

The Details of My Birthday Shellabration Card

For my card, I decided to colour with my Copic markers Rosealea in Summer colours matching the Doodlebug papers. I had a lot of fun colouring her hair and all her beautiful shells! Once she was done, I used a blending brush to add some Crumb Cake “sand” along the edges.

To mirror her shells, I used a cluster of shell die cuts with other ocean elements in opposite corners. The starfish in the sentiment cluster was brushed with Peach Pie Ink to give it dimension and look like the starfishes in my colouring. I also brushed Crumb Cake Ink to the Basic White coral rounds to give them dimension and a sandy look. I couldn’t resist using a leaf trinket with my sentiment cluster to highlight it!

A border of shells peeking out behind her were embossed with my Embossing Mat to make the details really stand out. Then, I brushed Crumb Cake Ink to bring out the details even more. Tip: leave the die cut shells in the metal frame, brush the ink over the frame so that only the raised areas get the ink. This keeps the ink off the other areas making the raised areas stand out even more.

To add a sparkle, I added a scattering of Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls, Clear Wink of Stella on the flowers and Star Dust Stickles to the pearls in her hair.

My Mediterranean Hello Card

My Mediterranean Hello Card - a card with oranges and tiles paper that says Hello
My Mediterranean Hello Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Mediterranean Hello Card using the Citrus Blooms Bundle which includes the Citrus Blooms Stamp Set and the matching Citrus Blooms Dies by Stampin’ Up! I was keen to use this Bundle. So, I created this card was for a swap that I participated in on the weekend.

The Details of My Mediterranean Hello Card

For my card, I loved the tile look of the Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper and thought it would be a striking background for the die cut oranges from the DSP!

So, I decided to use the largest die from the Citrus Blooms Dies to create a base for my focal point. For this Basic White piece, I used the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture and break up the white. This embossing folder went so well with my “tile” idea!

To add even more interested, I stamped the tilework image in Boho Blue in opposite corners on the Boho Blue card base.

The finishing touches were a linen thread bow on the oranges and a scattering of Opal Rounds.
