My Classic Birthday Cards

A masculine birthday card wishing a Happy Birthday to a classic with a car on it
My Classic Birthday Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Classic Birthday Cards using the He’s All That Bundle by Stampin’ Up! which includes the He’s All That Stamp Set and the All That Dies.

The Details of My Cards

For my cards, I need to create two masculine birthday cards and I thought the He’s All That Bundle is perfect for those kinds of cards! One card was for a car buff and the other was for my Father-in-law.

I decided to use a sketch that I have used before for another card. I love using sketches to inspire me. A link to the other card using this sketch will be at the end of this post.

Card Sketch
Card Sketch used to make my Clubhouse Birthday Card.

The He’s the Man Specialty Designer Series Paper was perfect for my Classic Car theme! It even comes with coordinating die-cut images of which I used the arrows for my cards and the notebook die-cut for my Sahara Sand card.

For the sentiments, I used the “Huffing” Technique where you use the Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the stamp in different colours. When you are done, you huff on the stamp reactivating the dried ink so that you can stamp the image.

Since my theme is classic cars, I thought the Metal Plate Embossing Folder in Early Espresso would add to that theme on my Early Espresso card.

The only embellishments were the Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots that balance the arrow and adding to my masculine feel of the car theme.

Buzzing by to Say Hi Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Buzzing by to Say Hi Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Cupcake Honey Bee and Sentiment Bundle.

This Bundle includes 6 images:

  • Title 3: Hap-Bee Birthday PNG
  • Title 4: Sweet As Can Bee PNG
  • Title 5: Just Bee Cause PNG
  • Title 6: Just Bee Cause – Bold PNG

The Details of My Card

I was having so much fun colouring this cutie with my Copic markers that I created two cards. I shared one already and will post a link at the end, but here is the other card that I promised.

For my card, I used the honeycomb quilt top die again, but this time I used the whole die and placed individual die cut honeycombs on top. Some I layered with dimesionals and other I adhered directly to the honeycomb quilt.

The Bundle comes with sentiments, but I wanted to heat emboss with white on black card stock. I love the contrast of white on black especially for my card! The honeycomb die set comes with individual dies that have a heart, star and hi. For the sentiment, I die cut the word “HI” off and used the “hi” honeycomb instead. So fun!

I used Clear Wink of Stella on the bee’s wings and Glossy Accents on the cherries. And a scattering of red rhinestones added some sparkle.

My Rainy-Day Easter Cards

Two Easter cards. One with a bunny and the other with a turtle on a bridge
My Rainy-Day Easter Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Rainy-Day Easter Cards using the Playing in the Rain Bundle by Stampin’ Up! This Bundle includes the Rain Stamp Set and the Playing in the Rain Dies.

The Details of My Cards

For my card, I decided to use the Playing in the Rain Dies to cut out the different animals from the DSP figuring you could use either the rabbit or the turtle for an Easter card. I love the glossy coating on this DSP. It adds a nice shine to the animals to make them stand out! The floral piece really makes the animals pop and creates a fun field of flowers behind them.

The Bunny Easter Card
The Bunny Easter Card

The Fabulous Frames Dies created a perfect vignette for my scene with the bridge, cloud and the grasses popping out of the frame!

To add a bit of interest to the Balmy Blue mat, I embossed it with the Raindrops Embossing Folder.

The clouds were stamped in Balmy Blue, and die cut out. I then used the different sizes for my cards.

The Turtle Easter Card

The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with the Double Oval Punch. The Old Olive scallop mat was punched from the same punch. I love that you get two punches for one!

I couldn’t resist using the Dragonfly Trinkets to add a bit of whimsy to my card!

My Hoppy Easter Card

An Easter Card with a girl with bunny ears on pulling a wagon with two bunnies in it.
My Hoppy Easter Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Hoppy Easter Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Bunny Wagon

The Details of My Card

I coloured this cutie with my Copic markers in bright Easter colours to match my Easter paper.

For my card, I decided to create several flags using the different papers in varying sizes at the top left and bottom right. I used my Punch to create my flags in the different widths.

The white background already had a texture to it, but I used a ruler and a multi liner to draw lines along the edges to add even more interest.

To highlight my focal point, I added a stitched circle in pink behind the Bunny Wagon.

The sentiment was stamped, and die cut with a stitched banner die which was cut off at the edge to match the other flags.

Star Dust Stickles was added to the heart on her dress. The only other embellishment was a scattering of sequins.

My Happy Easter Bunny Card

An Easter card with the Easter Bunny on it
My Happy Easter Bunny Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Happy Easter Bunny Card using the Easter Bunny Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

The Details of My Cards

For my cards, I thought it would be fun to create a scene with the Easter Bunny peeking through the leaves from the Around the Bend Dies as he’s hiding his Easter eggs!

The Into the Clouds Embossing Folder created the perfect sky for my scene with a die cut white cloud adding some interest.

I decided to use the Parakeet Party In Color DSP as my grass and leaves using the Around the Bend Die. A scattering of die cut flowers were used to add colour and highlight the sentiment which was die cut from the Pretty Pillowbox Dies.

The bunny was stamped in black on Basic White showing that you don’t always need to color it to make it stand out.

A couple of Brass Butterflies were added to complete my scene.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Easter Bunny Stamp Set (160272), Around the Bend Dies (160649), Give It a Whirl Dies (154336), Pretty Pillow Box Dies (156321)

Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (132708), Balmy Blue (147105)

Life’s Too Short Birthday Card

A birthday card with a gnome chef holding a cake
Life’s Too Short Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Life’s Too Short Birthday Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the Cake Chef Gnome Bundle.

This Bundle includes 4 images:

  • Image 1: Rose Cake
  • Image 2: Star Cake
  • Image 3: Cake Chef Gnome – Rose Version
  • Image 4: Cake Chef Gnome – Star Version

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to use the Rose Cake Versions on my slimline card. I coloured the images with my Copic markers, especially making sure that the cakes match.

The Picket Fences dies allow for so many different possibilities! I decided to go with the three circles and have the gnome popping out of one, the sentiment in another and the other cake in the third circle.

I went with some DSP that had a baker and cakes on it to match my theme. The DSP is very neutral so that my colouring and sentiment popped.

I loved the fun sentiment! Once I coloured with my markers the “CAKE” part of the sentiment in an ombre look, I used Star Dust Stickles on it to add some sparkle. Star Dust Stickles was also added to the roses on the cakes.

Some die cut roses were added to my card to brighten it up and tie in the roses on the cake.

The finishing touch was a scattering of Red Rhinestones.

My Easter Bunny Trio Card

An easter card with 3 bunnies on it.
Easter Bunny Trio Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Easter Bunny Trio Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the New Release Easter Rabbit Trio Bundle.

This Bundle includes 4 images:

  • Title 1: Easter Rabbit Trio
  • Title 2: Rabbit Holding Egg
  • Title 3: Rabbit Holding Daffodil
  • Title 4: Rabbit Holding Carrot

The Details of My Card

For my card, I thought I would create a fun Centre-Step card (downloadable template at end of post) with these three cuties on it! The bunnies come as individual images, but if you get the PNG versions, you can use Microsoft Word to place them together like I did. I made the Egg Bunny larger than the other two since he is in front of the other two.

Once I printed them out, I coloured them with my Copic markers. I decided to colour them in different colours since bunnies come in all sorts of colours and to distinguish them from each other. I coloured the Easter egg to match the purple paper with yellow to match the daffodil and orange to match the carrot. You could say that the Easter egg tied up my colour scheme in a bow.

Side View of card to show the dimension of the easel card.
Side View of Easel Card

I went with soft pastels of purples, yellows, and greens for my paper choices since they are the perfect Easter colors! The Wisteria Wonder Baker’s Twine tied in a bow behind my cuties added some interest to the yellow base. The sentiment piece was die cut with a 3” stitched circle die on the yellow paper from the Welcome Easter Paper Pad by Echo Park. The die cut sentiment was glued directly to the circle.

I used Clear Wink of Stella on the Easter egg to make it sparkle. A scattering of sequins was added to give even more sparkle.

Oh, Happy Day Cards

Two cards with a Rabbits flying a kites
Oh, Happy Day Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Oh, Happy Day Cards using the Rain or Shine Suite Collection by Stampin’ Up! I created two shaker cards. One was for a swap of the Mini Catalogue and the other was a faux-shaker card. Same design, but with different ways to make a shaker card.

The Details of My Cards

I had a lot of fun colouring this cute rabbit with my Stampin’ Blends! I coloured him with two different coloured shirts depending on the card. Once I finished colouring him, I die cut him out. Even though the bunny is splashing in a puddle on the stamp, the die just cuts him out making him more versatile. So, I decided that since he is bouncing with happiness that I would have him flying a kite.

My Swap Card Details

For my swap card, I made a traditional shaker card and used the kite die for my shaker part. Those Daisy Embellishments are so cute and perfect for a shaker! I backed my shaker part with a little DSP to add some visual interest.

One of the Cards with a ribbit flying a kite. the kite is a shaker.
My Swap Card

To get the placement of the kite, I placed my die cut bunny and DSP circle and the Balmy Blue where I wanted them and then positioned my kite die. Using a post-it note, I secured the DSP, and the kite die to the Balmy Blue and then ran it through my die cutting machine. Once that was done, I pulled part the pieces and embossed the Balmy Blue piece with the Into the Clouds Embossing Folder.

For the shaker part, I used a piece of window sheet that I adhered to the back of the Balmy Blue over the kite opening. Next, I used the foam adhesive strips and manipulated them around my kite. These strips are perfect for a shaker card and so easy to use!

Tip

Once the adhesive strip is down, rub the embossing buddy that comes in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit along the edges. This will help with static and keeps the shaker pieces from sticking to the adhesive.

Close Up of Rabbit
Close Up of Rabbit

Next, I added my shaker elements to the centre of the window sheet on the back. I removed the backing from the adhesive strip and secured the DSP over top. I added more strips to add dimension around the edges of the Balmy Blue so that the card would keep its shape. This part is adhered to the Old Olive card base.

Once that was done, it was just a matter of adhering all the elements in place. A Whisper White bow was added as the tail of the kite. A few daises were added to the sentiment and one beside the tree stump.

Faux Shaker Card Details

A faux shaker card is super easy to make and so fun! For my Faux Shaker Card, I embossed the Balmy Blue and adhered it to the Old Olive mat. Next, I adhered the DSP circle, the stump and one of the clouds to the Balmy Blue.

Second card that is a full shaker card
Faux Shaker Card

Taking a Medium clear envelope, I slid this piece into it. I added my daisy shaker elements to the front on the envelope and sealed it. Using liquid glue, I adhered the envelope to the Thick Basic White card base.

Next, I added the sentiment and the kite with liquid glue to the front on my card. The bunny and the remaining clouds are popped up. A few daisies were added to the sentiment. Easy peasy!

Like TOTALLY Awesome Birthday

A Birthday Card with a girl dressed in 80's clothing
Like TOTALLY Awesome Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Like TOTALLY Awesome Birthday as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Decade Collection 80’s Girl Ellie. There are ten dolls in the Decade Collection that come in both rubber and digital stamps. You can find all the digital versions here.

Decade Doll Collection by Paper Nest Dolls
Decade Doll Collection by Paper Nest Dolls

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to go with the bright neon colours of the 80’s. I usually don’t use these colours, but it was fun to go outside my comfort zone! I even used Copic markers that I haven’t used before! This might be dating me, but do you remember leg warmers and “Gag me with a Spoon” (said with my best Valley Girl voice)? Lol!

Doodlebug paper is always so bright and colourful that I decided to go with the Hey Cupcake paper. Perfect for my birthday theme in these bright colours! I also wanted a bright neon green and went with a piece of Parakeet Party DSP.

The Framed Florets Dies gave me a perfect backdrop for Ellie and I couldn’t resist using the bright pink sprinkles paper behind her to make her pop.

The sentiment was printed out on my computer. I used a fun script called Mystical Woods Smooth Script at 12pt which I cut apart so that I could run it beside Ellie. I popped up “Like”, TOTALLY” and “birthday” to give visual interest and to highlight these words since they are what my card is all about!

To add to the birthday theme, I added a banner that was die cut from the Doodlebug paper.

I found some bright sequins in my stash that went beautifully with my bright neon colours. Star Dust Stickles was added to the heart on her top, her earrings and the accents on her bow.

My Galaxy Part II Card

A Valentine card with a galaxy boy and girl fighter
My Galaxy Part II Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here to share My Galaxy Part II Card using the Galactic Fighter and the Galactic Sidekicks Stamp Sets by Kindred Stamps!

A friend of mine asked for me to create a custom Star Wars Valentine card for her Hubby who is a huge Star Wars fan! So, I made two for her selection. I showed the platform card that she picked, but here is the other card that I made. Since she picked the other card, I gave this one to my Hubby instead.

The Details of My Card

I thought a big heart with Hans Solo in it would be a fun Valentine card or even an anniversary card! So, I die cut a heart from the Whimsy Nebula paper that had reds in it. The white scallop border is just the back of the Nebula paper, but it added a nice contrast to the Nebula.

Since it was a Valentine card, you can never have too many hearts! So, I added die cut white hearts on top of embossed pink hearts for the background! The only embellishments were resin hearts on the nebula paper surrounding Hans Solo.

My Other Cards

I also had so much fun colouring these stamps that I made two other cards using the Stampin’ Up! January Paper Pumpkin Key to my Heart. I had just made a few of the cards from the Paper Pumpkin Kit and it was sitting on my desk. So, it was easy enough to add the characters to the cards and use the sentiments from the Galactic Sidekicks Stamp Set.

My Galaxy Platform Card

A 3D card that has a droid and man and woman
My Galaxy Platform Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here to share My Galaxy Platform Card using the Galactic Fighter and the Galactic Sidekicks Stamp Sets by Kindred Stamps!

A friend of mine asked for me to create a custom Star Wars Valentine card for her Hubby who is a huge Star Wars fan! As you might know, I have many different Star Wars stamps, but I decided to use Kindred Stamps since I just received them recently and their stamps are the right size for platform cards!

I had fun making another platform card for my brother’s birthday (I will link to it at the end of this post) that I decided to make one as an option from which my friend could choose. I also made a regular A2 card as another possibility and will post that another day.

The Details of My Card

My friend asked for Leia, Hans Solo and R2D2. So, I coloured them with my Copic markers in their traditional colours. When I showed her the stamp set, she loved the sentiment “I’ve searched the galaxy for you”.

I thought it would be fun for the platform to represent the Millennium Falcon’s bridge. So, I used the Foundry Embossing Folder to emboss the Basic Black die cut that wrapped around the card. Next, I rubbed Brushed Iron Wax to make all the details stand out. Perfect for a look of metal that had been cobbled together since the ship had been battered together so many times. Lol! I made the base Basic Gray like a metal floor and used the stitched rectangle die from the Add On to create stability for the pop-up characters.

Since this was supposed to be the Millennium Falcon’s bridge, I used a pretty Nebula paper from Whimsy Stamps for the windows behind R2D2.

The Stamp AnnieThing Galactic paper had the perfect Valentine theme with the word LOVE against a galaxy of twinkling stars. And it matched my Nebula paper!

I added a few red resin hearts to the sentiment but forgot to take another photo. So, you will just have to imagine that! Lol!

Hello Little One Card

A card with a baby boy bear sleeping on a cloud in the night sky
Hello Little One Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Hello Little One Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the sweet Goodnight Benji Bundle

This Bundle includes 5 images:

  • Title 1: Goodnight Benji
  • Title 2: I Love You To The Moon And Back V1 Sentiment
  • Title 3: Love You To The Moon And Back V2 Sentiment
  • Title 4: Sweet Dreams Sentiment
  • Title 5: Hello Little One Sentiment

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create a mini slimline card with this cutie on it. I love how Benji is just hanging out sleeping on his cloud! I coloured him with my Copic markers as a boy, but you can make a girl card or even gender neutral. It’s always good to have a stash of baby cards!

The Pebbles paper that I used had clouds and star constellations in very soft muted colours. Perfect for a baby card!

I decided to use the same scallop mini slimline die for all my pieces including the cloud paper and all 4 layers of clouds.

The stitched cloud dies created a wonderfully fluffy night sky. To frame Benji, I added clouds above and below him with the sentiment on the bottom cloud. Since it is a night sky, I added some star sprinkles around the sentiment.

To add sparkle to the moon and stars, I used Clear Wink of Stella on them.

My Picturesque Hello Card

A card with a nature scene with lake and trees
My Picturesque Hello Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Picturesque Hello Card using the Picturesque Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! I had a lot of fun playing with this stamp set that I made three cards all with slight variations. One is a gate fold card, another an easel card, and the third is a regular card.

The Details of My Gate Fold Card

I needed to create a swap and decided that I would use the Picturesque Stamp Set for it and create a gate fold card. Give the set some love since there wasn’t a lot of cards out there using it and I always need more masculine card!

I decided this stamp set would be perfect with the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper to create an outdoorsy masculine theme. It is currently free during Sale-a-Bration!

I went with one flap larger than the other since I wanted to show off the DSP. The Into the Clouds Embossing Folder created some interest on the smaller flap while lightening my card up. It also helped to balance the sentiment cluster.

Close Up of stamped nature scene
Close Up of Focal Point on my Card

For my stamped image, I used several colours to represent a sunset over a nature scene. The Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody were both stamped off once before stamping on the Basic White. For the sky, I decided to use the Oceanfront Stamp Set to give it a painted feel, but you could use the water stamp from the Picturesque Stamp Set instead.

Once everything was stamped, I used the largest stitched square from the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut it out and matted it with Starry Sky card stock.

Next, I wound some linen thread twice around my focal point and tied it in a knot on the opposite side from the sentiment cluster. The die cut tree was from the Majestic Mountain Dies and I thought it added to my outdoorsy theme and balanced the stamped tree on my focal point.

I stamped the sentiment in Starry Sky and used the arrow die from the All That Dies. I loved how it pointed into the scene while creating a base for the sticker and tree.

Those Enamel Sticker Icons are so neat! I went with the tree icon on my swaps since it went well with the die cut tree and my outdoorsy theme. The finishing touch was three Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots.

The Details for My Other Cards

For the Easel card, I decided to give it a distressed look by using my scissors to run along the edges of everything. I even folded down a corner of the DSP so that the Garden Green back can be seen.

A card that is an easel with a nature scene on it.
Easel Card Closed

I loved the encouraging sentiment and decided to use it for the inside as a stopper so that the easel could stand up.

The full card was stamped the same way, but I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to die cut the focal point and mat out. I also used the compass from the Enamel Sticker Icons.

Game on Platform Card

A pop-up card with Super Mario Brothers
Game on Platform Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here to share my Game on Platform Card using the Game on Limited Edition Box by Kindred Stamps!

One of my brother’s recently had a birthday and he loved playing Super Mario Brothers when he was growing up. I also bought the Lawn Fawn Platform Pop-Up Dies and the Platform Pop-Up Add-On Dies recently. So, I thought a platform card using his favourite characters would be a fun card to send him!

The Details of My Card

I coloured several characters with my Copic markers in the bright primary colours from the game. Then, I assembled the platform dies and add-on dies to create my scene. The dies come with everything you need to create a scene. I used the grass and hill dies from the platform and added the sun and clouds dies from the Add-on. Once my platform was completed, I just had to add my characters.

The only embellishment I used was a “game on” puffy sticker on the front.

I love how the platform folds down for mailing and fits perfectly in a 5 ½” x 5 ½” envelope!

Have a Flappable Birthday

A birthday card with a girl in a flapper dress.
Have a Flappable Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing Have a Flappable Birthday as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Decade Collection Flapper Girl Emma. There are ten dolls in the Decade Collection that come in both rubber and digital stamps. You can find all the digital versions here.

Decade Doll Collection by Paper Nest Dolls
Decade Doll Collection by Paper Nest Dolls

The Details of My Card

For my card, I used my Copic markers to colour Flapper Emma’s outfit in a very striking colour scheme of red and black to create a Roaring 20s theme. I love this Era with all it’s gorgeous outfits, Art Deco, and the dance/music scene!

The Mon Amour Papercrafting Paper by Graphic 45 had women with vintage style clothing on it, but I decided to go with the more neutral designs since I wanted the embellishments and Emma to shine. I felt that the Marvelous Squares Dies created an Art Deco feel with their die cuts adding to my Roaring Twenties theme.

Since Emma had a boa on, I decided to add some real feathers in white and red to tie in my colour scheme. Also, since it’s Mardi Gras week, I thought a mask would be a fun accent to add in front of the feathers. To bring out the details of the mask, I rubbed some white gold wax across it.

Don’t you love the sentiment! Perfect for my card since the Roaring 20s was all about living life to the fullest!

To add some sparkle, I used black and clear rhinestone sticker flourishes in opposite corners and a scattering of red rhinestones. I also added Star Dust Stickles to Emma’s boa and her headpiece. Glossy Accents was added to her pearls.
