Our Steampunk Journey Card

My Steampunk Journey Card - an anniversary card with gears and love on it
My Steampunk Journey Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing Our Steampunk Journey Card using the Stamperia Vagabond Series of paper and die cuts to create my anniversary card for my Hubby.

The Details of Our Steampunk Journey Card

My Hubby is always encouraging me to do what I love and explore mixed media more since I am still a novice. So, I decided to create a fun mixed media front with a steampunk feel for his anniversary card. He loves anything steampunk and I bought the Stamperia papers and all the bits in anticipation of making a card for him.

For my card, I only used papers and die cuts…no stamping or colouring for me which is a rarity for me! Lol! But, when I saw the Stamperia papers, I knew that I wanted to create a 3-step fun fold card that would keep on going as my hubby opened it…almost like a mini album. I even decorated the back of it and made a custom envelope with the papers.

Fun with Mixed Media

For my mixed media, I sponged black gesso on my chipboards and then rubbed with my fingertips the Brushed Iron and Firebird waxes over the “Love” piece to help differentiate it from the other chipboard pieces. Next, I added some Gilding Flakes to give it some shimmer and brushed more wax where needed to give it a gritty feel. More gears that were rubbed with the Brushed Iron wax were adhered with glossy accents on top of the “Love” piece for dimension.

Once that was done, I added a gear frame tag behind the decorated chipboard that consisted of a snippet of paper with a small clock. The gears on this tag were lightly rubbed with the Brushed Iron wax as well. I added a few clear die cuts from Stamperia to represent my theme of a marriage being a journey, albeit a steampunk one! Lol!

A monocle with an attached ball bead chain was glued in place with glossy accents. A scattering of red rhinestones added some sparkle and brightness to the front.

For my backdrop of my focal point, I decided to use a clock since it is the epitome of steampunk! I fussy cut two clocks out from the papers…one for the front and one for the back of the circle since you will see it when the card is opened. I needed a 5 ½” circle to mount these clocks and since I didn’t have a die that big, I pulled out my retired circle cutter from Stampin’ Up! It was what they used before they had dies!

Inside Our Steampunk Journey Card

For the inside of my card, I used several steampunk dies cuts and brushed the Brushed Iron wax on them to bring out the details. I even brushed it on the black edges of all the folds and card base. Of course, I used lots of die cut gears again with a stylized steampunk key, watch and wings! A few clear die cuts from Stamperia were added inside to continue my theme of a journey.

Since the back was so long, I used two different papers and pieced them together to create a continual scene of a pilot in flight on one side and flight gear on the other.

My Pumpkin Patch Card

My Pumpkin Patch Card - an autumn card with a little girl in a witch costume picking out a pumpkin
My Pumpkin Patch Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Pumpkin Patch Card using the new release Pumpkin Emily by Conie Fong Art & Design as my Design Team Inspiration Card. Doesn’t she make the most perfect autumnal card, but she could also be used for Halloween or Thanksgiving!

The Details of My Pumpkin Patch Card

For my card, I decided to create an autumnal card with fall like colours with a pumpkin patch theme since she is picking out her pumpkin. I had so much fun colouring Pumpkin Emily with my Copic Markers in oranges, blue/greens and blacks to match my paper. Once she was coloured, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the ribbon on her hat. For the cat, I decided to make it a tabby cat, but it could also be a black cat for Halloween. I used my black 0.3 Copic multi liner to add the stripes after I had coloured it with my Copic markers.

Next, I die cut her out with a 4” stitched circle die and placed a number of die cut leaves and a pumpkin in one corner to match my theme. The “Hello Pumpkin” sentiment was a sticker that came in the Carta Bella Welcome Fall Kit. In the other corner, I used another sticker of a Pumpkin Patch sign. Perfect for my Pumpkin Patch theme! The leaves falling around her were also from the same sticker set.

Finally, the finishing touch was a scattering of Enamel Dots that matched my colour scheme.

Halloween Is Here Card

Halloween Is Here Card -Halloween Card with a Witch with a broomstick in front of a haunted house
Halloween Is Here Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Halloween Is Here Card using the new release Broomstick Emily Witch by Conie Fong Art & Design as my Design Team Inspiration Card. This purchase includes 4 stamps:

The Details of My Halloween Is Here Card

I had so much fun colouring Broomstick Emily Witch with my Copic Markers in Halloween colours! Once she was coloured, I added Gold Gelly Roll to her boot buckles and Clear Wink of Stella to all the green trim pieces on her hat and top.

Next, I decided to create a mini slimline card since I wanted to use my new Haunted House Coverplate by Photo Play and thought it would be a perfect backdrop for Broomstick Emily Witch. I added some Crushed Curry behind the windows to make them glow eerily.

I decided that the haunted house needed a big full moon. So, I die cut the moon die and brushed Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink along the edges to give it dimension. Of course, if you have a haunted house, you need a sparkly bat flying around.

For the sky, I went with some spooky green skulls paper to match my colouring. The other piece of DSP I used was a border along the left side to balance out Emily and to add some unexpected colour. This border was a perfect anchor for my black sparkly “EEK” sentiment.

Finally, the finishing touch was a scattering of sprinkles that matched my colour scheme.

My Aloha Santa Card

My Aloha Santa Card - a card with Santa on vacation floating in a pool
My Aloha Santa Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Aloha Santa Card for as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Vacation Santa Set. There are 7 stamps, which include Surfer Santa, Ice-cream Santa, Santa with Reindeer Floatie, Santa & Mrs. Claus, Palm Tree and Flamingo & Gifts, that come in both rubber and digital stamps. I made cards with Ice-cream Santa and Santa with Reindeer Floatie from this set as well and will include a link to them at the end of this post.

The Details of My Aloha Santa Card

For my card, I thought to create an Aloha card since Hawaii is the perfect place for Santa to take a vacation before his busy time of year! Lol!

Once Santa was coloured with my Copic markers in bright vacation colours, I placed him on a stitched circle cut out from paper that looked like pool water. I thought it would be fun to place the “pool” off-centred on the card and trim a small piece off the one edge.

Don’t you just love the sparkle of the Aloha sticker, and it pulls out the orange that I used in my colouring! Of course, if Santa is in the land of paradise, he needs a sunny day to folic in the pool! Hence the die cut sun behind the Aloha. Lol!

For my card base, I used green DSP for my palm die cut frame and then some orange DSP with flowers behind it to add to my colour scheme. To mirror the palm die cut, I used a paper palm leaf in one corner.

I added some Star Dust Stickles to Santa’s hat trim, white Gelly Roll Pen for the shine on his floatie and Glossy Accents to Rudolph’s nose. Finally, for embellishment, I used a few sprinkles to match the colours of my card.

My Achievement Unlocked Card

My Achievement Unlocked Card - card with a video controller on it
My Achievement Unlocked Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Achievement Unlocked Card using the Level Complete Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! Tomorrow is National Video Games Day and this stamp set is perfect way to celebrate all those gamers in your life (and I have many! Lol!)!

The Details of My Achievement Unlocked Card

For my card, I decided to pull my fun colour scheme from the Bright & Beautiful DSP which I thought was perfect for a gamer card! Once I decided that, I stamped all the bits from the stamp set on a piece of Basic White in the various colours. I saved the controller stamp so that I could heat emboss it in white on a piece of Azure Afternoon which I then fussy cut out.

The Countryside Corners Dies were used to die cut out the stamped piece, the mat, and the Blueberry Bushel stamped sentiment. In addition to them, I used the smallest die to create coloured flags under the sentiment show the “different levels unlocked”.

Since I created this card for a swap, I went with a panel of three different papers for my card base. This allowed me to get more cards made using the paper with minimal waste. Plus, it permitted me to include a piece of the stars paper on each card. To me, stars are the personification of a gamer card!

To mirror the stars from the DSP, I die cut some stars from the Holographic Trio Specialty Paper using the Give It a Whirl Dies. Love that the colours seem to shift and change as you move holographic paper! Such a fun mesmerizing effect for a fun card!

Four gems from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack were used to mimic the buttons on the controller and to add some colour the controller.

The Perfect Day Card

The Perfect Day Card - A wedding card with bride and groom kissing
The Perfect Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing The Perfect Day Card using the digital stamp After the Vows by Tiddly Inks Stamps. This past weekend we attended a wedding, and this was the card I made for the happy couple to celebrate their love!

The Details of My Card

The digital stamp comes with the couple in full length, but I thought a close-up of the couple kissing would be a lovely focal point. So, I coloured the couple with my Copic markers in tones befitting my couple. The bride has gorgeous flowing locks of hair, and this stamp was perfect to represent her! I added a light coating of white pencil over the veil to differentiate where the veil was on her hair. Unfortunately, it is hard to see in the photo. Finally, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the bride’s veil to give it shimmer. For the groom, I coloured the skin and hair to look like the groom’s Pilipino heritage. This was the first time colouring this skin tone and I was quite happy with how it turned out!

For my card, I decided to create lots of pretty layers with the lace ribbon, heart doily and die cut hearts. The beautiful Craft O’Clock paper was the perfect backdrop with lace, flowing script, worn wood planks and flowers on it!

The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder to match the sparkly rhinestones and then die cut out. The die cut “love” sentiment was the epitome of what brought these two together to be married.

Finally, I couldn’t resist adding one more heart in the form of the sliver heart charm under the sentiment.
