Paint It Black Card

My Paint It Black Card with girl playing cello
My Paint It Black Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Paint It Black Card using Wednesday from The Girl by C.C. Designs. This fun box card is perfect for Halloween with its gothic feel!

The Details of My Card

I love the new Wednesday TV series and when I saw these stamps by C.C. Designs, I couldn’t resist getting them to colour! Since Wednesday is always in black, I pulled out my Cool Copic markers to colour her up. To make her eyes pop, I used a matt black gelly roll pen on them. Thing is on the same stamp, but it was an easy snip with my paper snips to separate him so that I could place him with his lit match facing Wednesday.

For my card, I wanted to recreate the scene where Wednesday is playing her cello on her balcony. So, I decided that a box card would be fun! I found online a digital stamp of the window that I printed at 2 7/8” from my computer and die cut with a 3” circle die. Since, my box card had multiple layers, I added the window to the back layer, Wednesday to the middle layer and Thing to the front layer to create lots of dimension.

For the balcony, I embossed black card stock with a brick embossing folder and then rubbed Firebird wax on the bricks to make them pop and give them a red tint. The top filigree was a gate die that I repurposed to just use the top part of the die cut to give my balcony a gothic feel. The banister railing was also another die that I repurposed to add to the gothic as well. For both die cuts, I rubbed Brushed Iron Wax on to make them look ancient.

Next, I white embossed the sentiment from the BFF Stamp Set and die cut it out with a retired Stampin’ Up! die. Love this fun sentiment that Gomez calls Wednesday in the series! Finally, I added some black rhinestones to add a subtle sparkle to my card.

Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card

Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card - a birthday card with a cat holding a balloon
Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card using the Grouchy Pets Clear Stamp Set and matching dies by CC Designs. It was my sister-in-law’s birthday recently and I thought she would find this kind of snarky card funny!

The Details of My Card

For my Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card, I knew that I wanted to use the grouchy cats from CC Designs since I thought my SIL (sister-in-law) would get a kick out of them! Plus, I found the perfect poem online that I typed out on my computer and printed off. If you watch Sheldon the TV series, you will get the reference. I knew that my SIL would get a laugh out of it!

A poem about a grouch cat

My SIL has a brown tabby cat. So, I coloured with my Copic markers one of the cats to look like it. For variation, I made another black and the third an orange tabby. For the tabby cats, I used a Copic multi liner to create their stripes in a triangle scribble shape.

Next, I pulled out my Small Slimline with Lift the Flaps Dies by Lawn Fawn. I love this interactive die set! So fun! I thought it would be neat to have one cat on the front holding a balloon. Don’t you just love the face on this cat! Like he is so put out that he must hold a balloon! Lol!

When the flaps are open, you see the other cats and the grouchy kitty poem. I used my paper snips to cut down the cats to fit and added a party hat sticker to each of the cats. Again, the faces of those cats are so priceless especially since they must wear party hats! I can definitely see a cat making that face! Lol!

I added a few present stickers to dress up the poem panel. On the front of the card, I added some paw gems and red rhinestones for embellishments.

A Monstrous Birthday Card

A birthday card with a girl in front of a haunted house
A Monstrous Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing A Monstrous Birthday Card using Wednesday from The BFF Stamp Set by C.C. Designs. Today is my big brother’s birthday and I always send him cards that suit him. He has a twisted sense of humour. So, I knew he would get a kick out of my card!

Of course, I had to include Thing as her sidekick.

For my card, I wanted to recreate the scene from the show where she is entering through the gates to the Gates Mansion. So, I pulled out my spookiest dies, papers, and Basic Black card stock.

The Kaisercraft paper had a spooky scene with trees and crows laminated on the black night sky. Why do all horror shows have the characters enter a scary haunted house at night! Lol! Since my card is in blacks, I used the Haunted House die and my embossing mat to get a lot of detail in my house.

Next, I used several dies to create my hill and ground that the house stood on. For the gates, I die cut them and them rubbed Brushed Iron Metallique Wax to make them stand out from the black background.

I thought the sentiment “Have a monstrous birthday” was perfect for my card! So, I white embossed it and trimmed the sentiment piece to create a flag. I added some die cut black glimmer bats to my scene to add sparkle.

Stack of Sweet Wishes Card

My Design Team Card for Copic for Alle
My Stack of Sweet Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Stack of Sweet Wishes Card as my Guest Design Team Card for Copic for ALLE. I was so excited to be asked to be on their GDT again for the month of May. Their Color Challenge for May is using E (Earth Tone) Copic markers. I use Es in so much of my colouring. They really are a staple for me!

For my card, I pulled out Swiss Pixie Cupcake Birgitta by C.C. Designs Rubber Stamps. A friend, Nathalie, asked me to show her some colouring techniques and I thought this image would be a good one for us to colour together.

I showed her skin blending using E Copic Markers (E000/00/21/11/04/R20). Here is a collage of the skin colouring steps:

Next we worked on her hair using E Copic Markers (E18/E15/E13/E11). This is the collage for the step to colour the hair:

For my card, I created a mini slimline card for my sweet Birgitta! Since she is sitting, I placed her on a cake pedestal. I thought it would be a fun way to show her off. I use Galvanized Metallic paper for the pedestal. The flag banners were cut from the DSP so that they would match the other elements. A scattering of sequins adds some birthday festiveness to the card!
