My Kiddie Birthday Card

My Kiddie Birthday Card - a birthday card with a little girl holding a drawing of a sun
My Kiddie Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Kiddie Birthday Card using the Kiddin’ Around Bundle and the Just Kiddin’ 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up! I am pleased to see that the Kiddin’ Around Stamp Set and the Kiddin’ Around Dies are carrying over to the new Catty! Yay!

I was honoured to be asked to present my colouring techniques using Stampin’ Blends to several demonstrators at a Stampin’ Up! Play Date. They asked me to demonstrate colouring people with Stampin’ Blends and the Kiddin’ Around Stamp Set was perfect for this! I made several cards for the event, and this was one of them. I will include a link to my other cards at the end of this post.

The Details of My Kiddie Birthday Card

For this card, I decided to use the castle dies with the little girl from the stamp set and created a focal point with the Deckled Circle Dies.

I used the Stampin’ Blends Medium Combo for her skin, Basic Black for her hair, Fresh Freesia, and Daffodil Delight for her dress. I created a fold in the centre of her dress by adding a small Fresh Freesia triangle to add interest. To add texture to her hair, I left some white highlights which I then coloured with the bullet tip of the Light Basic Black. I find that the felt tip is always darker than the bullet tip, thus making it great to add a third tone. You could also use the Smoky Slate for that third tone. I used Light Smoky Slate and Light Fresh Freesia for her mouth.

For her paper with her sun drawing, I used Light Smoky Slate along the top under her hand, left side and bottom of the page. Next, I used the Color Lifter along the edges of Smoky Slate to soften the edge and push the ink back into the shadows of the paper. I let that dry before adding the Daffodil Delight since I wanted control of the ink and for it not to spread. Wink of Stella was added to the sun.

The sentiment was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. Next, the stars were stamped in Daffodil Delight for a tone-on-tone look and to add interest on the Daffodil Card Stock.

Finally, to match my DSP colour that I used, I went with Berry Burst Glimmer Specialty Paper for the flag and banner.

As a finishing touch to my card, I added some Iridescent Foil Gems on either side of my focal point.

My Kiddin’ Around Birthday Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Kiddin’ Around Birthday Cards using the Kiddin’ Around Bundle and the Just Kiddin’ 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up!

Play Date that was organized this past weekend by my team leaders. They asked me to demonstrate colouring people with Stampin’ Blends and the Kiddin’ Around Stamp Set was perfect for this!

The Details of My Kiddin’ Around Birthday Cards

For my Kiddin’ Around Birthday Cards, I thought it would be fun to use the same centre-step fun fold for all my cards with slight variations on decorating them. I only demonstrated the colouring of the little girl, but I decided to colour all the kiddies using the different Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends to give a good variation of skin tones for my presentation.

My Presentation Card

For the card that I presented, we used the Stampin’ Blends Medium Combo for her skin, Basic Black for her hair, Fresh Freesia, and Daffodil Delight for her dress. We created a fold in the centre of her dress by adding a small Fresh Freesia triangle to add interest. To add texture to her hair, we left some white highlights which we then coloured with the bullet tip of the Light Basic Black. I find that the felt tip is always darker than the bullet tip. Thus making it great to add a third tone. You could also use the Smoky Slate for that third tone. We used Light Smoky Slate and Light Fresh Freesia for her mouth.

For her paper with her sun drawing, we used Light Smoky Slate along the top under her hand, left side and bottom of the page. Next, we used the Color Lifter along the edges of Smoky Slate to soften the edge and push the ink back into the shadows of the paper. We let that dry before adding the Daffodil Delight since we wanted control of the ink and for it not to spread. We added Wink of Stella to the sun.

The Building of the Card

The sentiment was stamped in Fresh Freesia and die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies.

To make her pop from the card, the Berry Burst card stock was embossed with the Splatters Embossing Folder and placed behind her. Perfect for my arts and crafts theme.

Finally, to match my dress colour, I went with a Fresh Freesia card base and followed the measurements in the template that I have included at the bottom of this post.

As a finishing touch to all my cards, I added some Iridescent Foil Gems near the sentiment on each card.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Kiddin’ Around Bundle (162839), Stylish Shapes Dies (159183)

Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (132708), Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin’ Pad (155611)

My Sailors Card

For my next card, I went with three different skin tones to show the diversity of the Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends. I used Medium Combo for the girl, Medium Light for the baby and Medium Deep for the boy.

My Sailors Card - a birthday card with three kids in a box pretending to sail
My Sailors Card

To achieve the curly hair for the boy, I coloured his hair in Light Basic Black. Once it was dry, I added Dark Basic Black with little “c” squiggles all over but left some of the Light Basic Black showing through. The shadows on his paper hat were achieved the same way with the Light Smoky Slate as the girl’s paper above.

This girl’s hair was done with the same method as the first girl that I presented.

The other Stampin’ Blends colours that I used on this card were pulled from the DSP. They consisted of were Pool Party, Azure Afternoon, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Freesia and Poppy Parade. Wink of Stella was added to the heart on the girl’s top.

For this card, I went with a Pool Party card base and used the dies from the Give It a Whirl Dies for the Basic White clouds on the side panels which I trimmed with my Paper Snips.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Kiddin’ Around Bundle (162839), Stylish Shapes Dies (159183), Give It a Whirl Dies (154336)

My Dino Birthday Party Cards

Two birthday cards. One with a boy and a Dino and the other a girl and Dino.
My Dino Birthday Party Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Paper Nest Dolls is celebrating their 10th birthday this year! So, I am sharing two birthday cards to celebrate! My Dino Birthday Party Cards are my Design Team Inspiration Cards using Dino Party Amara and Dino Party Owen by Paper Nest Dolls. Don’t you think these two stamps go so perfectly together!

The Details of My Cards

I had debated about placing them on the same card, but in the end decided to go with two different cards with the same party theme using boy and girl matching papers. So, the Doodlebug papers were perfect with those gorgeous bright colours! I used the same coordinating papers from each paper pack such as the cupcakes, the Happy Birthday, the sweets, and confetti.

Once I decided on the papers, I coloured Owen and Amara in bright colours with my Copic markers to match it.

For my Amara card, I decided to create a regular A2 card with lots of layers in greens and pinks to match my colouring. I included some fun banners and a balloon since it’s a birthday card.

The girl with Dino birthday card

For my Owen card, I decided to create a different shaped card. Again, I used lots of layers, this time in blues, but with a mini slimline card layout. I used the same banners and balloon to match Amara’s card, but with different dies for the background.

Boy with Dino birthday card
Owen Dino Birthday Card

The sentiments for both cards came from the Simple Strips – Birthday by Taylored Expressions. I love that you can stamp 18 sentiments at once and die cut them all out at the same time!

Clear Wink of Stella was added to the party hats and the pink ribbon on Amara’s dino. For Owen’s cupcake, I added white gelly pen sprinkles to his cupcake. The finishing touch was adding sequins to both the cards since sequins say birthday party to me! Lol!

Magic in the Air Card

A Card with a Fairy Sitting on a mushroom
Magic in the Air Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Magic in the Air Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Sitting Pretty on Mushroom. I coloured this beautiful image twice this month using the Kit and Clowder Whimsical Wonders Class as inspiration. This is my second card, but I will include a link to the other card at the end of this post.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I used the alternative colour choice from the Kit and Clowder class and gave her a sparkly dress using a White Gelly Roll Pen and lots of dots!

Two Fairies Coloured
My Colouring of Sitting Pretty on Mushroom

Once she was coloured, I pulled out some DSP with mushrooms on it to match her mushrooms. A mushroom border die in Poppy Parade also added to this theme.

Some greenery flourishes were added behind the sentiment and in the opposite corner for a splash of colour. I love how the swirls come from below to overlap the image adding depth and interest.

The sentiment was from Rosabelle by Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps. Perfect sentiment for a fairy, don’t you think?

I brushes some Vintage Photo ink to the edges of the image, sentiment and DSP to give it an earthy feel to match the distressing in places on the Pool Party piece of DSP.

I added for embellishments brass butterflies beside the sentiment and fairy with red rhinestones in the other corner.

For shimmer, I added stickles to her wings! Every fairy should have sparkly wings!

My Fairy Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Fairy Wishes Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Sitting Pretty on Mushroom

The Details of My Card

The Conie Fong Art & Design Team are celebrating fairies today. I decided to create a clean and simple card that highlighted my colouring with my Copic markers. I re-watched my Kit & Clowder Whimsical Wonders Class that used this stamp to inspire my colouring with slight variations in colours.

For my card, I used one sheet of the Mintay paper with a beautiful background to keep my card CAS. It even looked like a fairy glen with its butterflies, trees, and hedgehogs! Perfect place for a fairy to live!

The sentiment was from Dandelion Wishes by Conie Fong Art & Design as well. I thought it suited the theme of my card!

The only embellishments that I added were brass butterflies around the sentiment and beside the fairy.

For shimmer, I added stickles to her wings! Every fairy should have sparkly wings! I also added Clear Wink of Stella to the yellow flowers.

A Monstrous Birthday Card

A birthday card with a girl in front of a haunted house
A Monstrous Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing A Monstrous Birthday Card using Wednesday from The BFF Stamp Set by C.C. Designs. Today is my big brother’s birthday and I always send him cards that suit him. He has a twisted sense of humour. So, I knew he would get a kick out of my card!

The Details of My Card

I love the new Wednesday TV series and when I saw these stamps by C.C. Designs, I couldn’t resist getting them to colour! Since Wednesday is always in black, I pulled out my Cool Copic markers to colour her up. To make her eyes pop, I used a matt black gelly roll pen on them. Of course, I had to include Thing as her sidekick.

For my card, I wanted to recreate the scene from the show where she is entering through the gates to the Gates Mansion. So, I pulled out my spookiest dies, papers, and Basic Black card stock.

The Kaisercraft paper had a spooky scene with trees and crows laminated on the black night sky. Why do all horror shows have the characters enter a scary haunted house at night! Lol! Since my card is in blacks, I used the Haunted House die and my embossing mat to get a lot of detail in my house.

Next, I used several dies to create my hill and ground that the house stood on. For the gates, I die cut them and them rubbed Brushed Iron Metallique Wax to make them stand out from the black background.

I thought the sentiment “Have a monstrous birthday” was perfect for my card! So, I white embossed it and trimmed the sentiment piece to create a flag. I added some die cut black glimmer bats to my scene to add sparkle.

Wintertime Wishes Card

A card with a girl holding a snowflake banner
Wintertime Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Wintertime Wishes Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the sweet Emma with Snowflake Banner. She is perfect for a winter birthday or Valentine’s Day with her heart banner!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I coloured Emma with my Copic markers in one of my favourite colour combos of pinks, blues, and tans! I added Glossy Accents to the hearts on her snowflake banner and Stardust Stickles to her hat pompom, bows and the snowflakes.

The Snowed In Paper was perfect for my card since the knitted snowflake pattern created a cozy warm feel and suited my snowflake theme. Even the “Wintertime” sentiment was from the Paper Pad.

I had the Frostyville Corner Die from Memory Box in my stash and thought it would work for a mini slimline card. I love how it peeks put from under the sentiment creating interest over the knitted snowflake paper! A few more glimmery snowflakes from punches and a die were added for sparkle. To ground Emma, I added a stitched snowbank and ran some Glittered Organdy Ribbon over it to add more sparkle. I also added the ribbon across the top of the so that the sentiment hangs from it.

The finishing touch was a scattering of rhinestones on the knitted paper to add even more sparkle!

The Details of My Card

When I was a teenager, roller skating was all the rage and you needed those multicoloured striped socks, Nike red shorts and tunes on your Walkman! So, when I saw this stamp, it bought back so many memories! Lol!

For my card, I coloured Ellie with my Copic markers to match my roller disco paper! I love this paper! I have used it for so many of the Decade Dolls whether it be 60’s, 70’s or 80’s! The skates and cassette tapes (do you remember cassette tapes? Lol) on the paper were perfect for my theme.

The sentiment was from a retired Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set, but you could easily type this out on your computer and printing it. It was die cut using the Stitched Rectangles.

To add some sparkle to the card, I used Stickles on a stitched Real Red heart and Ellie’s pompoms on her skates. I also added a few gold glimmer stars and red rhinestones.

Glossy Accents was added to her Walkman case.

My “Party On!” Card

A Birthday Shaker Card
My Party On Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My “Party On!” Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card using Party Princess Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls.

This past weekend Paper Nest Dolls turned 9 and reached over 6,000 members on their Facebook Group! Congratulations Paper Nest Dolls! Party Princess Ellie was a digital stamp that was given away for free to all attendees, but you can still get her until this Friday, Jan 21, 2022! Here is the link to the post on the PND Inspiration Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=4758734684247076&set=gm.3166875813548826.

Details of My Card

I am planning to give this card to my niece whose birthday is coming up. So, I coloured Ellie with my Copic markers to match her colouring and the Doodlebug paper. Don’t you just love the kitties with the balloons on the side panels!

For my card, I decided that I wanted to create a fun fold called a free-standing triple panel shaker card! Say that three time fast! Lol! I also wanted to use some balloon dies that I thought would be perfect for a birthday card and go along with Ellie’s heart balloon. The Balloon dies are to make a pop-up window, but I thought a shaker card would be a fun interactive element instead!

Twirly-Whirly Birthday Card

My Design Team Card
Twirly-Whirly Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Twirly-Whirly Birthday Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the digital stamp Emma with Pinwheel.

I coloured this cutie with my Copic markers to match my pinwheel paper. This paper was perfect for my card! I love the pinwheel Sizzlits that I had in my stash. If you have a pinwheel, you need to have a slider to make it move! And, since you need room to twirl your pinwheel, I made a mini slimline card! The sentiment was too long for my card. So, I snipped it on wonky angles and adhered them haphazardly to mirror my fun card.

Did you know that you can currently (until June 6/21) get this digital stamp for free over at the Kit and Clowder Facebook Group:
