My Spooky Season Card

My Spooky Season Card - A Halloween Card with A boy holding shovel and girl holding a knife.
My Spooky Season Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Happy Halloween! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Spooky Season Card using Scary Doll Owen and Scary Doll Emma by Paper Nest Dolls as my Design Team Inspiration Card. I couldn’t resist squeaking in one final Halloween card!

The Details of My Spooky Season Card

For my card, I had to do some research! I’m not a big horror fan. So, I had to google what these characters were and colour them according to the photos online. Lol! I used my Copic markers to colour them and added Glossy Accents to the shovel and the knife. Also, I added silver gelly roll pen to all the metallic trim on Emma’s jacket.

Since I had two stamps to place on my card, I decided to create a slimline card, but I thought it would be fun to use the tag “Tis the Season to be Spooky”. So, I brushed Black Soot along the edges to give it a distressed feel. Next, I added a black mat to the tag and rubbed Brushed Iron wax on the mat, the die cut gates, and the mat of my card to tie them all in together. Once I did that, I placed my sentiment sticking above the card with an iron gate on either side of it with my characters layered in front.

I love the oval dies that I used for the black mat and the Skull and cross bone paper! Such a fun and interesting shape!

For embellishments, I used several bats and black rhinestone stickers, as well as a spider trinket that I placed over the printed spider on the tag. The only other thing that I added was the reverse “Scary” word to the tag. It summed up my card perfectly!

Merry Christmas Elves Card

The Details of My Merry Christmas Elves Card

For my card, I decided to go with traditional colours and use my favourites red and green Copic markers for these cuties. Once they were coloured, I went with an 8 ½” x 4” slimline card to fit my colouring.

I also decided that I wanted to create a rustic look to match my papers. So, I blended Vintage Photo ink along the edges of my coloured piece to make them look worn.

The Simple Stories paper matched my Copic colours perfectly! Since my card was so long, I used a 12” x 12” paper for the base and the smaller 6” x 6” pad for accent pieces. These accent pieces were die cut ticket stubs that I repurposed to create some interest in the background papers. I cut two of them using the Simple Stories paper and two Real Red ones that I used as a border. I placed these accents on either side of my colouring.

Next, I added some holly flourishes along the edges of my coloured piece. The “Merry” “& Bright” sentiments were stamped in Mossy Meadow and Real Red to match my colour scheme and cut out with my paper snips. They were layered onto a wooden star for that rustic feel with a Real Red stitched circle. The “25” was a tag from the Santa Claus Lane Frames & Tags which I layered another stitched circle underneath.

To add some sparkle, I used Star Dust Stickles on the white trim of their outfits and Clear Wink of Stella on the ribbons of the presents. Glossy Accents was added to the candy cane to give it a shine. A scattering of red rhinestones was added to match my colour scheme and for even more sparkle.

My Vintage Christmas Card

My Vintage Christmas Card - a Christmas card with an old fashioned Santa carrying a tree and presents
My Vintage Christmas Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Vintage Christmas Card using the Saint Nicholas Bundle by Stampin’ Up! which includes the Saint Nicholas Stamp Set and the Saint Nicholas Dies. My card was designed for a swap of the September-December 2023 Mini Catalogue.

The Details of My Vintage Christmas Card

For my card, I decided to make a vintage feel card since the Saint Nicholas is an old fashion Santa Claus. To achieve this feeling, I stamped Saint Nicholas on Very Vanilla card stock in Gray Granite Ink to give him a lighter, almost no-lines, look rather than the traditional Memento black that I usually use with my Stampin’ Blends. I have included some links at the end of this post with more Stampin’ Blends colouring tips.

My Colourings of Santa Claus
My Colourings of Saint Nicholas

Once Saint Nicholas was coloured with my Blends, I die cut him out with the matching Saint Nicholas Dies.

Next, I embossed the Crumb Cake card stock with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder and brushed Crumb Cake ink along the edges to give it a worn look. The sentiment was also brushed with Crumb Cake once it was stamped in Gray Granite and die cut out with the Countryside Corners Dies.

I loved the stockings and decided to create a DSP tag incorporating them and the sentiment. The tag was inspired by one of the cards in the catalogue. The catalogues are a great place for inspiration! Lol! I added a Real Red bow at the top of the tag to match my colour scheme.

A strip of music DSP with a Real Red matt helped to anchor my focal point. The final embellishments were a couple of gems from the Loose Holly Gems & Sequins.

Paint It Black Card

My Paint It Black Card with girl playing cello
My Paint It Black Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Paint It Black Card using Wednesday from The Girl by C.C. Designs. This fun box card is perfect for Halloween with its gothic feel!

The Details of My Card

I love the new Wednesday TV series and when I saw these stamps by C.C. Designs, I couldn’t resist getting them to colour! Since Wednesday is always in black, I pulled out my Cool Copic markers to colour her up. To make her eyes pop, I used a matt black gelly roll pen on them. Thing is on the same stamp, but it was an easy snip with my paper snips to separate him so that I could place him with his lit match facing Wednesday.

For my card, I wanted to recreate the scene where Wednesday is playing her cello on her balcony. So, I decided that a box card would be fun! I found online a digital stamp of the window that I printed at 2 7/8” from my computer and die cut with a 3” circle die. Since, my box card had multiple layers, I added the window to the back layer, Wednesday to the middle layer and Thing to the front layer to create lots of dimension.

Side View of My Box Card

For the balcony, I embossed black card stock with a brick embossing folder and then rubbed Firebird wax on the bricks to make them pop and give them a red tint. The top filigree was a gate die that I repurposed to just use the top part of the die cut to give my balcony a gothic feel. The banister railing was also another die that I repurposed to add to the gothic as well. For both die cuts, I rubbed Brushed Iron Wax on to make them look ancient.

Next, I white embossed the sentiment from the BFF Stamp Set and die cut it out with a retired Stampin’ Up! die. Love this fun sentiment that Gomez calls Wednesday in the series! Finally, I added some black rhinestones to add a subtle sparkle to my card.

My Sunflower Thanksgiving Card

My Sunflower Thanksgiving Card - a Thanksgiving card with an arrangement of sunflowers in a pumpkin and other pumpkins.
My Sunflower Thanksgiving Card

  • Happy Thanksgiving Sentiment

The Details of My Card

Since this weekend is the Canadian Thanksgiving, I decided to create a mini slimline Thanksgiving card using this beautiful sunflower arrangement. Perfect for a Thanksgiving card with the sunflowers and pumpkins!

I had fun colouring with my Copic markers the pumpkins in different colours to make them stand out from each other. The sunflowers are so gorgeous and a delight to colour as well!

I found this beautiful sunflower paper with soft colours that was fantastic for my card! I added a border at the top and bottom with some scraps of paper from Graphic 45. The fence behind the sunflower arrangement was a laser die cut that I trimmed down to fit my card.

The sentiment from the bundle was die cut with the Labels Aglow Dies to give it some interest. Of course, if you have an autumn card, you need a die cut leaf. Lol! I tucked this behind the sentiment which created an ideal backdrop for the paper sunflower from my stash.

The only other embellishments were a bumblebee and a scattering of rhinestones that matched my colour scheme.

Scary Cute Halloween Card

Scary Cute Halloween Card - a Halloween card with a girl dressed as a vampire with two balloons
Scary Cute Halloween Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Scary Cute Halloween Card using Vampire Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls as my Design Team Inspiration Card.

The Details of My Colouring

For my card, I had so much fun colouring Vampire Ellie with my Copic markers! I knew that I wanted to give her black hair and decided to go with a ghoulish green and red since she is a vampire. I made her skin a bit lighter by not using E04 for my shadows to give her a deathly pallor. Lol!

For the balloons, I went with an ectoplasm green like in Ghostbusters and a black for the bat. I used my white gelly roll pen to make bat’s fangs stand out and for the highlights on both balloons. The balloons also had glossy accents add to them to make them look like real balloons. Star Dust Stickles were added to the red bows and red trim of her dress.

The Details of My Scary Cute Halloween Card

I decided to create a mini slimline card since I wanted to create a spooky graveyard scene with my dies. Of course, if you have a vampire, you must have a moon dripping blood! Lol! So, I stamped the blood drips first before die cutting the moon out. That way the craters on the moon die did not cause voids in the stamped dripping blood. Next, I brushed Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink around the edges of my moon to make it glow.

Then, I die cut the graveyard in Basic Black and Basic Gray to help differentiate the two layers. Don’t you love how the spooky sky and moon show through the gate to the graveyard!

For the sky, I went with some spooky green skulls paper to match my colouring. Plus, they reminded me of all the ghosts in the graveyard.

A couple of black glimmer bats add some sparkle to the sky. The “Scary” sentiment was die cut from red glimmer paper to match my red colouring.

Finally, the finishing touch was a scattering of red rhinestones and black sequins to match my colour scheme.

Birthday Shopping Card

Birthday Shopping Card - a birthday card with a street scene of an art supply store.
Birthday Shopping Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Birthday Shopping Card using the Les Shoppes Suite Collection by Stampin’ Up! It’s a friend’s birthday this week and she is very artistic. So, I thought a birthday card shopping for art supplies would be perfect for her!

The Details of My Birthday Shopping Card

For my card, I decided to create a shopping scene. So, I fussy cut with my paper snips the building with the art supplies, but you could use any of the buildings in the Designer Series Paper. Next, I stamped the awning stamp randomly on the Calypso Coral card base in Calypso Coral for a slight tone-on-tone. The Basic White piece was die cut by the 3rd largest Deckled Rectangles Dies and embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder to add some interest.

Since I was creating a street scene, I thought the die cut lamppost and bench would be fun accents beside the shop. A strip of the cobbled DSP created the perfect grounding for my scene.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in white on Misty Moonlight card stock and then die cut out.

The finishing touch was a scattering of Loose Silver Sequins that are included in the Collection.
