My Design Team Card with a Grinch hand reaching for an ornament and Cindy Lou Who — Christmas Means More Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Christmas Means More as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the digital stamp called Avery with Christmas Plushie.

When I saw this cutie, I knew that I had to make a card for her! My hubby and I watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas every year for Christmas. My hubby cheers for the Grinch to win and I cheer for Cindy Lou Who! You would never guess who wins! Lol!

Details of my Card

For my slimline card, I used my Copic markers to colour her with the movie version as my inspiration. I had so much fun colouring her, especially that hair, and her cute plushie!

I had this retired Stampin’ Up! sentiment that I knew would be perfect for my card and decided to create an ornament from it. Once I had die cut my stitched circle dies and layered them, I added ribbon and a gold jingle bell to it to make it look like an ornament. What’s more festive than the sound of jingle bells!

The Grinch’s hand was created from a Stampin’ Up! die that is an aloe vera plant. It looks so much like his gnarly hand! The white cuff was from a scallop circle die where I only used a small part on a scrap piece of white card stock. His arm was another piece of scrap that I cut to fit my card.

Since my card is based on the movie, I pulled out my slimline film strip die to layer behind her and my elements. I found the most perfect Grinchiest paper on Etsy for the openings of my film die! A couple of red rhinestone on the ornament and scattered around, add a touch of sparkle!

It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year!

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing one last Stampin’ Up! Christmas card called It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year! using the Tidings & Trimmings Bundle. This bundle includes the Tidings & Trimmings Stamp Set and the Christmas Trimmings Dies.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I was inspired by a card made by Lisa Hardie, another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. So, I used the layout and added my own flair to it. I love the Gold Shimmer Vellum! Perfect for a bit of Christmas sparkle! It’s hard to see in the photo, but it beautiful when the light catches it!

There are so many different patterns in the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series, and you get 8 of each pattern! Great for mass producing your Christmas cards!

I used the same Stitched Rectangle Die for my DSP and my sentiment which I stamped in Evening Evergreen. The stocking was stamped in Cherry Cobbler and die cut out with the matching die. Both colours are perfect for a Christmas card and matched the DSP!

I die cut the star from Early Espresso since it reminded me of those wooden stars that are so rustic. A scattering of sequins added a bit more sparkle to the card!

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Santa Paws is Coming to Town Card using the Sweet Little Stocking Bundle and the Sweet Stocking Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up! This bundle and DSP are retiring soon. Get yours while you can!

The Details of My Card

When I saw the super cute Sweet Stocking Designer Series Paper, I just knew that I wanted to fussy cut the animals out for my card. So, I made this card all about the DSP! Don’t you just love the cat’s expression with the reindeer ears or the golden retriever with the lights wrapped around him! So fun! Lol!

I decided that my Pool Party card stock needed a subtle look without distracting from the cute DSP. So, I used the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder to add it. I thought it would be fun to create a flag with the matching DSP and then add the smaller flags in matching card stock and DSP off the sentiment. A scattering of the Matte Decorative Dots tied in the colours I used for my flags.

My Happy Christmas Gnome Ornament

Ornament with Gnome on it — Christmas Gnome Ornament

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Happy Christmas Gnome Ornament as my Design Team Inspiration Project for Conie Fong Art & Design using the Bauble Gnome and Sentiment Bundle. He comes with 6 stamps including sentiments May Your Holidays Be Merry & Bright and Tis the Season to be Jolly in PNG and JPG.

Details of My Ornament

I decided that I wanted to create something a little different than a card with this cutie. So, I made a Scandinavian Star ornament using some Designer Series Paper that had baubles on one side and red stripes on the other. I had so much fun colouring him with my Copic markers in reds/whites with a pop of blue for his bauble to match my paper choice.

To decorate my ornament, I created a bauble with gold foil and red glimmer paper that I placed behind my gnome with the sentiment layered on it. Since you may see the back of the ornament, I also created another bauble on the back that says Merry Christmas. Since I didn’t have matching blue embellishments, I coloured the ribbon and rhinestones with my B28 Copic marker. A favourite technique I love to use to make things match! Some Gold trim is added to hang the ornament.

Instructions to Create A Scandinavian Star

Start with a 6” x 6” piece of DSP cut into 12 strips of ½” wide. Make 2 piles of 6 pieces. If you have a continual pattern, make sure they line up.
Fold two of the strips in half to find center point and adhere in a “plus” shape.
Adhere two more strip on either side of the top piece lining up pattern.
Weave two strips on either side of the DSP on the bottom piece and adhere.
Using the remaining six strips, repeat the preceding steps to create the other half of the ornament
Turn over and adhere the corner strips together. You’ll fold the strips under until the opposite side is showing, then adhere those ends together so they are flush. If you are not seeing a “v” of the opposite side paper on the tips, then your ends are not being glued in the correct direction
Continue until all 4 corners are adhered.
Adhere the 4 corners of the other half so that you have 2 identical shapes.
Place one side facing down on top of the other, rotating it so that the points alternate, and the loose strips will each match up to an opposing point.
Thread each of the loose strips through the back of the points, so the whole ornament is loosely interlocking.
Adhere the loose ends to the underside of each point.
Snip off the excess of each point to create a points for the star.

My Christmas Pyjamas Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Christmas Pyjamas Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the digital stamp called Emma in Snowman Sweater.

For my card, I decided that this cutie reminded me of the matching Christmas PJs that are so popular! So, I coloured her and her little friend with my Copic Markers in matching red and white. I love that you can have both cuties together or use them separately to suit your card!

Since they are wearing Christmas PJs, I went with paper that suited this theme. T’was the Night Before Christmas tag and Santa Claus is Coming to Town mirroring my red/white colouring scheme were perfect for my card! The only die cut I used was Santa and his reindeer flying overhead. I dry embossed snowflakes on Basic White card stock to set her off from the busy background. I also used Glossy Accents on the candy cane and Stardust Stickles on the trim of the hats and boots. The only thing left was to add a few red rhinestones for a bit of sparkle.

My Design Team card with 3 Penguins on it. — My Merry Penguins Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Christmas is only a month away and I’m still working on my Christmas cards. I am sharing My Merry Penguins Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the digital stamp called Penguin Holiday Set.

For this super-fast card, I decided I wanted a winter scene for these cuties. And what better way than a slimline card to fit all the penguins on it. So, I pulled out my Frozen Whimsy Stamps Paper Pack! These cute penguins are such a fast colour with my Copic Markers! All I needed to finish off my card were a few snowflakes die cut from some glimmer paper and my sentiment. Easy-peasy!

Stack of Christmas Gnomes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Stack of Christmas Gnomes Card as my Design Team Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the cute Christmas Gnome Stack. They come with 6 stamps including sentiment Sending Christmas Wishes and Merry Christmas in PNG and JPG.

Details of My Card

I had so much fun colouring these cuties with my Copic markers in reds, greens, and blue/greens to match my paper choice which you can see poking out from beneath the Holly border. The sparkle on my star was achieved by colouring it first and then using a technique of dots and White Gelly Roll Pen. To continue the sparkle, I die cut a flourish of stars with some metallic sparkly paper that I layered behind my sentiment. I used the leftover from this die cut to add some solid glittery stars to my card. To carry to poinsettia theme of the gnomes, I added a handmade one beside the sentiment with some gold metallic pearls in the centre to match their poinsettias. As a finishing touch, I added some red rhinestones to add even more sparkle to my card.

My Remembrance Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Remembrance Day Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using two digital stamps called Military Boy and Military Girl.

11.11.11 – Lest We Forget! I am honoured to dedicate this card to all who have served and are serving to keep us free including my Hubby who was in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s).

I was inspired by a card design I saw using the Suit & Ties Dies by Stampin’ Up! to create a camouflage shirt. I thought this would work very well for my card! So, I used some digital paper that had a camouflage pattern on it to create my shirt. I had so much fun colouring with my Copic Markers these cuties in camouflage colours! Of course, I had to add a poppy for Remembrance from the Poppy Moments Dies.

Nature is an Adventure Card

A Cabin in the forest on a card — Nature is an Adventure Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Nature is an Adventure Card using the Reflected in Nature Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

The Details of My Card

The inspiration for my card is the prints that you see which have one pop of red in amongst a black/white scene. To create this, I pulled out my Blender Pen once I had stamped the image. I took the pen and dipped it into my Real Red

Ink Pad to pick up some ink. I started in the shadow areas, like under the roof line, and moved out from there. As you use the pen, the ink gets lighter and lighter until there is no more ink on it. I love this softer look that suited the stamped image! As the ink runs out, you get lots of dimension with the shadows, mid-tones, and highlights. I haven’t done this technique in a long time.

To match my rustic cottage in the woods theme, I distressed the edges of my stamped image and the Real Red mat with my Paper Snips. The Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper is gorgeous with its unexpected silver accents and perfect for my theme! I thought that adding a flag of the Cork Paper behind my focal point would add a bit of colour and interest. To match the silver accents on the DSP, I added a Silver Foil die cut tree from the Cabin Dies. For embellishments, I used Linen Thread wrapped around my sentiment and a scattering of Red Rhinestones to add some colour.

Details of My Card

I had so much fun colouring this sweet gnome with my Copic markers that I coloured him twice. Once with him and the tree separately and then him with the tree. Stay tune for a card with my second colouring later.

I love the Tulla & Norbert’s Christmas Party paper! If you look closely, you will see gnomes with presents and Christmas trees driving in convertible cars! So fun and perfect for my card! Since the paper had a lot going on, I made my layers simple for the card with the pine branches and the pink snowflake paper. Decorated Treat boxes for Halloween — My Tombstone Treat Boxes

Happy Halloween Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Today I am sharing My Tombstone Treat Boxes as my Design Team Inspiration for Paper Nest Dolls using Ragdoll Sally.

I had a lot of fun colouring this cutie with my Copic Markers! In fact, I coloured her skin in three different tones. So, I created a poll in The Paper Nest Dolls Inspiration Facebook Group on which skin tone was the most popular. The most popular green skin tone was used to create a card (Link to it here), but I couldn’t resist colouring the other two to create my treat boxes.

Since it’s Halloween what better way to celebrate with treat boxes to give out to all those cute trick-or-treaters! The Stampin’ Up! Tombstone Treat Boxes were so fun to decorate with lots of little bits from my stash! And the finishing touch was my coloured Ragdoll Sallys!

Sending Christmas Wishes Card

My DesignTeam Card with Gnomes Mailing Presents — Sending Christmas Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Have you started your Christmas cards? This is my one first since Christmas in July. I am sharing my Sending Christmas Wishes Card as my Design Team Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the cute Christmas Mailbox Gnome. You receive the stamp and the sentiment Sending Christmas Love in PNG and JPG. I used the sentiment from the Christmas Gnome Stack since it suited my letter shape.

Details of My Card

I had so much fun colouring these cuties with my Copic markers in traditional greens and reds, but I added a pop of unexpected blue in the presents and bows. I love paper since it has a robin with a Christmas letter in his mouth. You can see him in the lower-right corner. I thought it would be fun to have an opened envelope with my sentiment tucked inside in one of the corners. A couple of punched snowflakes with some sparkly Kraftin’ Kimmie Dots tied in my blue. I used a lot of glitter with Star Dust stickles on their hat trim, pompoms and snow, Glossy Accents on the red Christmas baubles and Clear Wink of Stella on all the bows.

Birthday Slimline Shaker Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Today I am sharing My Birthday Slimline Shaker Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the Ragdoll Sally. Every year, my Hubby and I watch Nightmare Before Christmas for Halloween. It’s also my Hubby’s birthday on Thursday and I thought a birthday card with Ragdoll Sally would be perfect for him.

I had a lot of fun colouring this cutie with my Copic Markers! In fact, I coloured her skin in three different tones. So, I created a poll in The Paper Nest Dolls Inspiration Facebook Group on which skin tone was the most popular. It turned out that the green skin tone was the winner. So, I used her for my card.

Of course, I also coloured the others and created Halloween treat boxes with them which I plan to share later this week.

My Card Details

For my card, I decided to create not only a slimline card, but a shaker card with glow in the dark moons! So fun! I know my Hubby will get a kick out of it! I found this cool graphic on Etsy for Nightmare Before Christmas. So, I used my Silhouette Cameo to tweak it to fit my shape and then die cut it out. The moon paper was 6” x 6”, but since I only needed it for the top half of my card, I trimmed it down to fit.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was printed out on my computer using Word and the Viner Hand ITC font. I created a collage of different items around the sentiment including the glittery spider web and spider trinket. Don’t you love the pop of green that the mesh created at the bottom of the card to mirror her skin and the Lavinia moon paper!

My Halloween Cards with a Witch on Them — My Witching You A Happy Halloween Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Halloween is only a few more weeks away and I couldn’t resist sharing another Halloween card! In fact, I am sharing two cards this time since I love this digital stamp so much! I am sharing my Witching You A Happy Halloween Cards as my Design Team Cards for Conie Fong Art & Design using the cute Witchy Broomstick Gnome. She comes with 7 images including the sentiment Witching You A Happy Halloween.

Details of My Cards

Have you ever found that you have two different ideas for a digital stamp that you want to explore? I did for this cute stamp! For my cards, I created a CAS (Clean and Simple) card and another one that has many layers to it. Which type of card is your preference? I tend to lean towards lots of layers and details, but this paper from Spellbound just called to be used with minimal details.

My Clean and Simple Card with a Witch — My Clean and Simple Card

I love the spooky scene on the paper. So, I angled my witch to show it peeking out from behind her. I added a spider web doily to make her pop from the background, some glittery bats, and the sentiment that come with her to my card. That was all this card needed.

My Other Halloween Card — My Detailed Halloween Card

For my second card, I used several different layers of paper that matched the fun Copic Markers colours that I used on my witches. I used the same doily and glittery bats but added a graveyard sticker at the bottom of my card like she is flying over a graveyard. A scattering of star sequins adds some sparkle to the background.

You’re my Gingerbread Card

My Stampin' Up! Card with Gingerbread Cookies on It — You’re my Gingerbread Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my You’re my Gingerbread Card using the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle by Stampin’ Up!

For my card, I wanted to use the Gingerbread Dies to die cut the images out of the Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper. I love that you can do this to create your cards! Great for mass producing your Christmas cards!

I thought the Kraft paper would tie in nicely with the brown cookies in the DSP. Once I die cut it with the largest scallop die, I stamped the peppermint swirls all over it in Versamark. This tone-on-tone look adds a subtle bit of interested without taking away from the delicious cookies.

I also stamped in Versamark the sentiment on a piece of Real Red that I die cut using one of the Stitched Rectangles Dies. This I embossed in white using my Heat Tool. I added the gingerbread trim in Basic White under my sentiment trimming it to fit the rectangle. I added a fun Gingerbread & Peppermint Acrylic Shape and a scattering of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to tie in my colours and theme.
