Season to be Freezin’ Card

Season to be Freezin’ Card - a winter card with a Yeti holding a tree
Season to be Freezin’ Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Season to be Freezin’ Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Yeti with Tree. Paper Nest Dolls has several Yeti stamps to the point you could have a whole Yeti family! I just love these cuties so much that I made another card with the Yeti Father and Son for Christmas and have included a link at the end of this post to it.

The Details of My Season to be Freezin’ Card

For my Yeti, I had coloured him with my Copic markers before Christmas but didn’t get a chance to get him onto a card. So, I decided to create a winter themed card for him. I coloured his fur texture with individual strokes in the shadows and left the highlights white. The tree was also coloured with individual strokes to create lots of texture.

The Doodlebug paper that I used, had Yetis on it, but I went with more neutral papers to create my wintery scene. The sentiment was from the matching Chit Chat and was perfect for my wintery theme.

Next, I added a birch tree die cut for my wintery scene and, to add interest, I used a Stitched Hillside Die to complete my scene.

For embellishments, I used some wooden snowflakes that I had in my stash for that rustic look.

Warmest Winter Wishes Card

Warmest Winter Wishes Card - a winter birthday card with baby seals in the Arctic.
Warmest Winter Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Warmest Winter Wishes Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the Baby Seals On Iceberg from her drawing tutorial on You Tube. Conie Fong has started a Draw with Conie YouTube channel where you can draw along with her: https://www.youtube.com/@DrawWithConie. The Details of My Warmest Winter Wishes Card

For my card, I kept my card design simple in line with the simple drawing of the seals. The seals were coloured with very few Copic markers leaving a lot of uncoloured white space. Really, I just coloured the shadows for them and the ice flow and used my Colorless Blender to soften the edges of the colour to the white.

I had the perfect Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! to create a mini slimline card for these cuties! It had a winter artic scene with icebergs and ice flow, but it had polar bears on it! So, I strategically cut my DSP so that the bears would be hidden by the placement of my seals. Lol!

Next, I used a white mini slimline scallop die cut to frame my scene having it pop from all the blues. This also gave a support for my seals so that it looked like the seals are floating out of the scene.

The sentiment was stamped on white, and die cut with a stitched flag die. Again, I liked how it popped against the dark blue sky. The final touch was a few wooden stars that I had in my stash.

My Beary Christmas Cards

My Beary Christmas Cards - two Christmas card with a Polar Bear and a wintery scene
My Beary Christmas Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Beary Christmas Cards using the Beary Cute Bundle by Stampin’ Up! which includes the Beary Cute Stamp Set and coordinating Beary Cute Punch. This bundle is retiring. So, make sure you get it before it’s too late!

The Details of My Beary Christmas Cards

For my cards, I decided to make a floating element using one of the scenes from the Beary Christmas Designer Series Paper. I had so much fun that I created two different cards with the same elements. For one, I used Misty Moonlight and the other, Balmy Blue card stock bases. A floating element uses acetate or window sheet on which you adhere strips of DSP leaving gaps between the pieces. Then you use dimensionals under the DSP to make it look like the element is floating.

The scene strips were cut at ½” width and lined up in order on my window sheet for placement before adhering them down. I started with the two end pieces and then the centre ones working out to the ends. Tip: use grid paper for an even gap between pieces. Since the DSP was ½ wide, it allowed me to place my dimensionals behind the paper. Thus, hiding them to complete my floating element.

Misty Moonlight Card

I made the Misty Moonlight card portrait and used the largest square from the Stylish Shapes Dies to die cut my square once I had adhered the 5 DSP scene pieces to the Window Sheet.

Misty Moonlight Card with a Polar Bear on it.
Misty Moonlight Card

I stamped snowflakes in Misty Moonlight for a tone-on-tone around my central focal point.

The sentiment was white embossed on some Real Red card stock and then fussy cut with my Paper Snips.

The polar bear was stamped in Misty Moonlight and Real Red for his scarf before it was punched out.

Balmy Blue Card

For my Balmy Blue card, I decided that I wanted to use more of the DSP. So, I made the floating element larger with 6 pieces of DSP and wider gaps. I stamped the Balmy Blue snowflakes at an angle through the centre of the card. This allowed the snowflakes to show through the Window Sheet!

Balmy Blue Card with a Polar Bear on it

The sentiment was stamped in Real Red and snipped on an angle with my Paper Snips.

For both cards, I used the white snowflakes from the Adhesive-Backed Snowflake Assortment as my embellishments.

My Fa La La Card

A Card with Snow People Singing Fa La La on it
My Fa La La Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Fa La La Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Snow Globe Bundle. This Bundle includes a clear snow globe with a selection of images and labels for the holiday season. I love the versatility of this bundle since you can interchange the images in the globe or use the images by themselves.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to use the singing snow people without the globe. They are just too cute, and I had the perfect Fa La La die for them. In fact, I had two Fa La La dies. Lol! The cover plate behind them and the red glimmer falala.

I pulled the colours of the DSP to colour my snow people in a red and a blue/green. I used my favourite technique for their snow bodies where I use two light makers along the edges and then use my colourless blender to soften the transition between the colour and the paper. The same technique was used for their song books.

Since these cuties are singing, I had to add some musical notes floating up from them! Some glimmery snowflakes and snowbank add even more sparkle to my card. The finishing touch was Star Dust Stickles on their hat trim and the hearts.

My Merry Penguins Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Christmas is only a month away and I’m still working on my Christmas cards. I am sharing My Merry Penguins Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the digital stamp called Penguin Holiday Set

For this super-fast card, I decided I wanted a winter scene for these cuties. And what better way than a slimline card to fit all the penguins on it. So, I pulled out my Frozen Whimsy Stamps Paper Pack! These cute penguins are such a fast colour with my Copic Markers! All I needed to finish off my card were a few snowflakes die cut from some glimmer paper and my sentiment. Easy-peasy!

My Puppy Love Card

My Puppy Love Card
My Puppy Love Design Team Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Puppy Love Card as my first official Design Team Card for Conie Fong Art & Design. I am so excited that I have been asked to become a permanent Design Team Member! Yippee!

For my card, I used the sweet Puppy Cuddles and coloured with my Copic markers her hair colour to match her puppy’s fur. You know what they say…you look like your dog. Lol!

Since it is still snowy here is Canada, I thought I would create one last winter card as a mini slim line card. I have been having so much fun with slim line cards and thought it would be fun to create my first mini card for her! The birch trees were the perfect size for my slim line card with a couple of snow banks to fill in the space at the bottom. I decided that the Friend die would be neat die cut from the snow bank. I added the white embossed “Best” on Early Espresso to match the colour of her dog and to complete my Best Friend sentiment since all dogs are Man’s Best Friend!

Hugs for Mr. Snowman Design Team Card

It’s Laurie here with my Hugs for Mr. Snowman Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her ‘Snowman Hug’ Christmas Digital Stamp. Isn’t this just the sweetest image with the little one giving Mr. Snowman a big hug!

I pulled out the Winter Fun paper a while back and had it sitting on my table in anticipation of this card. I love the soft blues and browns of it and coloured with my Copic markers the stamp to match. Once the image was coloured, I used my new Stampin’ Up! Blending Brush to give the sky a pretty blue to make the snowman pop from the background. Of course, you have to have snowflake dies cuts when a snowman is involved! I thought the Tan/ White Twine and the snowflake charm were perfect accents to my card! I added some sparkle with the Clear Gelly Roll Pen on the snowsuit’s snowflakes and a scattering of rhinestones.

My Snow Family Design Team Card

It’s Laurie here with My Snow Family Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her sweet Snowman Family Christmas Digital Stamp.

I knew that I wanted to colour the family as a Momma Snowman and her little girl. I pulled the colours from the bright and cheery Doodlebug Winter Wonderland Paper Pad. Don’t you just love Doodlebug! Of course, you have to have lots of glitter when you are making a snowman card! In fact, I have it everywhere…on the card, on me, on my craft table! LOL! I dabbed some glue in the sky and on the ground and sprinkle glitter all over to create my snowy scene. I love the Frosty border and the snowflake die cuts from the Sparkle Glimmer Paper. The blue gems really glitter as well! This card is so pretty and sparkly in person!

My Winter Reindeer Card

Winter Reindeer Card Using the Snow Globe Scenes Dies
Winter Reindeer Card Using the Snow Globe Scenes Dies

Today I am sharing with you my Winter Reindeer Card that has a unique twist on the Snow Globe Scene Dies. It is using the dies not to create a snow globe, but a vignette of a winter scene. I love the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper and how the Star Designer Elements continue the starry night into the Mossy Meadow Woodlands. This particular card has no stamping involved, but it is very striking with all its copper accents!

Supplies:

Dies:  Snow Globe Scenes Dies (150655), In The Woods Dies (147919)

Paper: Very Vanilla Thick (144237), Night Of Navy (100867), Mossy Meadow (133676), Very Vanilla (101650), Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper (150429), Copper Foil Sheets (142020)

Accessories:  Woodland Embossing Folder (152881), Very Vanilla/Copper Classic Weave Ribbon (150394), Star Designer Elements (150430), Bone Folder (102300), Paper Snips (103579 ), SNAIL Adhesive (104332), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Mini Glue Dots (103683)

Measurements:

  • Very Vanilla Thick: 8 ½” x 5 ½”; scored at 4 ¼”
  • Night of Navy: 5 ¼” x 4”
  • Mossy Meadow: 5 1/8” x 3 7/8” and 2” x 2 1/8
  • Copper Foil: 2¼” x 2 9/16” and 4” x ½”
  • Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper: 2¼” x 2 9/16
  • Very Vanilla: 4’ x 1 ½”
  • Very Vanilla/Copper Classic Weave Ribbon: 2 pieces – 4 ½” and 3”

Instructions:

  1. Fold the Very Vanilla Thick card stock in half.
  2. Emboss the Mossy Meadow with the Woodland Embossing Folder.
  3. Die cut the Copper Foil with the dome die from the Snow Globe Scenes Dies.
  4. Take the reindeer die and place in the center of the Copper Foil that you just cut and die cut it out. This is a great trick to save paper.
  5. Die cut the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP with the dome die from the Snow Globe Scenes Dies.
  6. Die cut the Mossy Meadow with the Tree die from the Snow Globe Scenes Dies.
  7. Next, die cut the Very Vanilla with the In The Woods Dies to create a snowbank.
  8. Add the strip of Copper Foil to the base of the Very Vanilla snowbank.
  9. Using snail adhesive, adhere the Night of Navy card stock to the Thick Very Vanilla card base and the Embossed Mossy Meadow to the Night of Navy.
  10. Adhere with snail the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP to the copper foil leaving a small border at the top and sides.
  11. Using glue dots, adhere the Mossy Meadow trees to the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP.
  12. The reindeer is popped up with dimensionals in front of the Mossy Meadow trees.
  13. Attach the scene to the Mossy Meadow with snail adhesive.
  14. Attach the larger Very Vanilla/Copper Classic Weave Ribbon to the snowbank wrapping around the back and securing with snail adhesive.
  15. Tie the smaller Very Vanilla/Copper Classic Weave Ribbon in a knot to the larger ribbon on the left side of the snowbank. Trim the tails.
  16. Add the Very Vanilla snowbank with dimensionals overlapping the winter scene to make it look like the reindeer is walking through snow.
  17. Add three Star Designer Elements.
