Have a Mice Day!

A card with a mouse holding a flowers and three daisy flowers beside her.
Have a Mice Day! Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Have a Mice Day! as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the Daisy Mouse And Hailey Hamster Bundle.

This Bundle includes 8 images:

  • Title 1: Daisy Mouse JPG format
  • Title 2: Hailey Hamster JPG format
  • Title 3 & 4: Daisy Flower Right JPG / PNG format
  • Title 5 & 6: Daisy Flower Left JPG / PNG format
  • Title 7 & 8: Have A Mice Day! Sentiment JPG / PNG format

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create a CAS (Clean and Simple) card using Daisy Mouse and a bouquet of daisies. It’s funny that I find making CAS so hard. I keep wanting to add things to it! Lol!

I knew that I wanted to create a mini slimline card with Daisy on one side and the bouquet of daisies on the other side with the sentiment. Once I laid out my design in Microsoft Word, I coloured the images with my Copic Markers. I thought colouring the daisies in yellow would have them pop off the white paper.

For embellishments, I only added some epoxy stickers that look like dew drops on a petal of each flower. To add a bit of sparkle, I used Clear Wink of Stella on Daisy’s bow on her tail.

I felt the card still needed a little something and decided to use a multi liner pen and a ruler to draw in a border around the whole card. I thought about free handing it but decided that I didn’t want to chance ruining my project! Lol! So, in the end, I found the straight lines helped to ground Daisy while adding a fun element!

My Magical Birthday Card

A birthday card with a girl gnome in a field of mushrooms.
My Magical Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Magical Birthday Card using the retiring Friendly Gnomes Stamp Set and the retiring Gnomes Dies by Stampin’ Up! My card is using several items that are retiring! There is only a few more days left! So, don’t miss out! Get them while you can!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create a magical scene with the girl gnome, mushrooms, and the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper! The DSP was perfect since one of the sheets had mushrooms on it! The retiring Layering Diorama Dies were used to create my scene with the retiring Hive Embossing Folder as the backdrop for my scene.

I had a lot of fun colouring my girl gnome in bright happy colours with my Stampin’ Blends! I love that the Gnome Dies work for both the Friendly Gnomes Stamp Set and the retired Kindest Gnomes Stamp Set!

The die cut sentiment was from the retiring Layering Circles Dies. The scallop and circles layer perfectly with each other. The girl gnome was layered onto the sentiment and DSP. The die cut mushrooms were placed so that they were popping out of the diorama.

I added a few Fun Flowers Resin Shapes around the sentiment to complete my scene.

Blooming Wishes Birthday Card

A Birthday Card with a Gnome Holding a Watering Can
Blooming Wishes Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Blooming Wishes Birthday Card that was published in the March Issue (#242) of the Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine. I was honoured when Christine Young, owner of Paper Nest Dolls, asked me to create a card to be published using Watering Can Gnome from the Gnome Set. There are ten images in the set including:

  • Shears Gnome
  • Tulip Gnome
  • Shovel Gnome
  • Watering Can Gnome
  • Bird Bath
  • Tulips
  • Daises
  • Mushroom with Butterfly
  • Wheelbarrow Gnome
  • Gnome Home

The Details of My Card

For my card, the Magazine had specified pastel colours with a Spring theme. So, I used The Four Seasons Spring, P13 paper for my card. I coloured my images with my Copic markers to match my paper.

To build my card, I used the largest mini slimline scallop die to create a banner behind my focal point. I trimmed it down to fit my card. Next, I added a banner along the top to finish off the top.

Tip: Use mini slimline dies for different sized cards by trimming down to fit project.

I thought that the watering can die would be fun way to anchor my watering can gnome. Accordingly, I die cut the watering can twice, once in pink and once in yellow. Then, I trimmed the top and bottom of the yellow watering can and adhered to the pink to give the watering can a two tone look.

Once that was done, I layered the watering can with a sun and cloud from my favourite die set. I added the tulips along the bottom of the watering can and added one of the birds from the Bird Bath Stamp.

Tip: Use parts of digital stamps, like the birds from the birdbath, instead of the whole stamp to create interest.

The sentiment was printed out on my computer and slid behind the watering can gnome’s head almost like she is wishing the recipient a blooming birthday!

The other bird and butterfly were added to the music paper on the card base.

Clear Wink of Stella was added to the wings of the butterflies and Glossy Accents to her watering can A scattering of rhinestones that were coloured with my Copic markers were added to give sparkle.

My Bridal Shower Card

A bridal shower card with a couple on it
My Bridal Shower Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Bridal Shower Card using the digital stamp Engagement by Krista Smith Stamps. We have a wedding coming up in our family and I was invited to the Bridal Shower. So, I created a custom card for the future bride.

The Details of My Card

I coloured these cuties with my Copic markers in the same colours as the couple who are getting married. Don’t you just love the guy’s red hair! So fun to colour! I went with greens and pinks for them since I knew these will be their wedding colours. I added White Gelly Roll Pen to their eye to make them sparkle and to the girl’s lips to make them glossy.

Since I knew that their flowers are going to be wildflowers especially daisies, I went with the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper and matching Dainty Delight Dies.

To add to the rustic look of the DSP, I blended some Crumb Cake Ink onto the edges of the paper.

The sentiment was stamped in VersaFine ink and trimmed with my Paper Snips to fit.

The die cut flourish behind the coloured panel was trimmed so that only one side showed to help balance the die cut flowers and leaves on the opposite side.

To keep with my wildflower theme, I only added a few Brass Butterflies for some sparkle.

My Friends Forever Cards

A floral card that says friends forever
My Friends Forever Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Friends Forever Cards using the Abigail Rose Suite Collection by Stampin’ Up! with two different backgrounds.

I was honoured to be asked to present my colouring with Stampin’ Blends at a Playdate for fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. I presented my colouring several times so that I had enough roses to create multiple cards. I have included links to some videos at the end of this post that cover my colouring techniques, as well as the card that I used as my swap for the event.

The Details of My Cards

I had a lot of fun using my Stampin’ Blends to colour the rose from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set!

Card with a solid pink background
Card with Timeworn Type Embossing Folder

Both of my cards have the same layout. The only difference is that I used the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder for one and the Dots & Spots Die for the other card with the Petal Pink card stock. Which do you like best?

Card with holes in the pink background
Card with Spots & Dots Die

I decided to go with the journaling paper from the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper since I didn’t want too much to detract from my focal point, but it still added interest. I used the largest stitched circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies for my other piece of DSP. Since this pattern was a darker tone-on-tone, it made the coloured piece really pop without a lot of distraction.

The sentiment was heat embossed in white on Old Olive card stock and then fussy cut out with my Paper Snips.

A Petal Pink die cut floral piece was added behind the focal point adding interest to the journaling paper and balancing out the sentiment.

The Natural Finish Ribbon ran the width of the card grounding the focal point while adding interest. A scattering of Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels added sparkle to the card.

Supplies:

Hello Springtime!

A Spring time card with a gnome in her garden
Hello Springtime!

Hello Crafty Friends! Welcome Spring! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing Hello Springtime! as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Watering Can Gnome from the Gnome Set. There are ten images in the set including:

  • Shears Gnome
  • Tulip Gnome
  • Shovel Gnome
  • Watering Can Gnome
  • Bird Bath
  • Tulips
  • Daises
  • Mushroom with Butterfly
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Gnome Home

Since today is the First Day of Spring, I thought I would create a Spring card with tulips blooming, birds singing and butterflies fluttering! For my card, I decided to create a scene using several stamps from the Gnome Set.

The Details of My Card

I used Microsoft Word to layout my carefully planned scene so that when I added the Watering Can Gnome, she wouldn’t block any of the other images. I printed and coloured her with my Copic markers separately so that I could add some depth to my scene.

Once everything was coloured, I used the different sizes of the Blending Brushes by Picket Fence and a Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps cloud stencil to create my sky around the coloured images. It’s nice that the blending brushes come in different sizes! The smaller ones allowed me to get into areas close to the coloured images without having to mask them.

Tip: Use parts of digital stamps, like the birds from the birdbath, instead of the whole stamp to create interest.

For the grass, I wanted a straight part where the flowers were and then a hill to add interest. So, for the straight piece, I used the largest Small Mini Slimline Stackables Die to get the stitching along the top. The hill was from the Slimline Stitched Hillside Border Dies by Lawn Fawn. To create dimension and differentiate the two pieces of grass, I used dimensionals.

Tip: use your slimline dies for more than just slimline cards.

I tucked my coloured gnome into the hill part of the grass but added dimensionals behind her to give depth to my scene.

I added die cut stitched clouds to match the stitching on the grass. The sentiment was printed out on my computer and them die cut with another stitched die.

Clear Wink of Stella was added to the wings of the butterflies and Glossy Accents to her watering can. A scattering of yellow resin flowers in the grass added to my Spring theme.

My Bee’s Knees Card

A Valentine card with a Boy and girl bee holding hearts
My Bee’s Knees Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Bee’s Knees Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the super cute Bee With Heart Bundle.

This Bundle includes 5 images:

  • Title 1: Bee With Heart – Boy (PNG)
  • Title 2: Bee With Heart – Girl (PNG)
  • Title 3: Flower Accessory for Bee (PNG)
  • Title 4: For My Sweet Friend Sentiment (PNG)
  • Title 5: Sending Hugs Sentiment (PNG)

The Details of My Card

These bees are such a fast colour with my Copic markers and perfect for a super cute Valentine card, but they could also be used for an anniversary, a wedding, even a birthday!

I decided to use the quilt top die and the individual hexagons that you can place where you want to create a fun shaker card. The Graphic 45 paper with the honeycomb pattern, bees and flowers made it feel like you are glimpsing into a busy hive. I used several different shaker elements, especially hearts, to tie in my Valentine theme.

Close Up of Boy Bee
Close Up of Boy Bee

The Bundle comes with sentiments, but I wanted to heat emboss with white on black card stock. I love the contrast of white on black especially for my card! The stamp comes with several great bee sentiments that can be used for all occasions, but I used one appropriate for a Valentine card.

I printed the Flower Accessory several times and coloured them with my Copic markers. To add depth to the flowers, I used an Embossing Stylus Tool and rolled it around the flowers on the Stampin’ Pierce Mat. This made the edges curl up to create dimension. The only embellishment I used was a bumblebee trinket. To add sparkle, I used Clear Wink of Stella on their wings and Stickles on the hearts that they carry.

My Make a Wish Card

A Birthday Card with a girl and flowers in her hair
Make a Wish Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Make a Wish Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the beautiful Leilani

The Details of My Card

Today is my niece’s birthday and I wanted to use this beautiful stamp on her card. For my card, I decided to colour with my Copic markers Leilani with blond hair and green eyes just like my niece. I also pulled the colours for the flowers from the pretty P13 paper that I used.

I received a card from a friend using the Pretty Pop-Up Dies by Stampin’ Up! and was inspired to use the circle die on my card. I love the way the beautifully intricate butterflies, flowers, and greenery designs pop up from the die giving lots of visual interest! The Glimmer Paper really makes the pop-ups just pop! Lol! I used a retired 3-5/8” circle die to cut out the pop-up piece.

I also cut out a dragonfly in the P13 paper using the dies and just snipped the wings to set it free!

The scallop piece was also die cut from the paper tying in her green eyes. I used my favourite leafy vine die cut twice wrapping it around the different layers on the top and bottom.

To add sparkle, I used a scattering of rhinestones and Clear Wink of Stella on the flowers.

Best Wishes Birthday Card

A Birthday Card with wisteria on it
Best Wishes Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Best Wishes Birthday Card using the Wisteria Wishes Bundle by Stampin’ Up! For my card, I decided to create a birthday card, but this card could also be used for a wedding or an anniversary.

The Details of My Card

Wisteria comes in all different colours, but I just love wisteria in different tones of purples! So, it was a given that I would use Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather for mine.

I decided to create several layers to build up to the wisteria focal point. The Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder created a nice blank background while creating a bit of interest. The beautiful filigree die from the Fancy Frames Dies added to the delicateness of my wisteria and guided the eye to my focal point.

My wisteria needed a background to separate it from the filigree frame. So, the largest of the Tailor Made Tags was perfect. I die cut it twice using Basic White and the script sheet from the Vellum Layering Designs. I wanted the tag to be popped up and by adding the Basic White behind the vellum, it made it sturdy enough to do so.

Tip: to add glue to vellum so that you do not see it, use a Silicone Craft Sheet with a sponge and dab liquid glue onto the back.

A tip on how to apply liquid glue to vellum

The sentiment was heat embossed in white on a flag from the Stylish Shapes Dies.

For embellishments, I added some Linen Thread and a scattering of Opal Rounds.

Christmas Snow Globe Wishes

A Christmas Card with a girl holding a snow globe.
Christmas Snow Globe Wishes

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Christmas Snow Globe Wishes as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Snow Globe Wishes which includes 2 stamps in JPG / PNG formats.

The Details of My Card

When I saw all those curls, I just had to colour her with red hair, but with red hair I needed a colour scheme that wouldn’t clash. So, the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper came to my rescue! It had beautiful poinsettias in yellowy-creams and greens! Perfect for my card!

So, I coloured her luscious curls red and used green for her dress. It was a bit tricky colouring the poinsettia so that it had colour, but still retained a white value. I used W3 and W1 with a light touch of Y32 to the centre of the petals and then the Colourless Blender (0) to soften the edges of the colour so that it faded to white in the highlights.

Since this was a Christmas card, I decided to add some sparkle to the DSP with Gold Gilded Leafing, Heat and Stick Powder and my Heat Tool. I even added a little of the leafing to the beautiful die cut circle behind the stamp. You must be careful with it since it is so light it floats everywhere! Don’t sneeze! Lol!

The sentiment was heat embossed in gold and then die cut out with a die from the Pretty Pillowbox Dies by Stampin’ Up!

I added Stardust Stickles to the globe’s base, the snowman’s hat trim, her gold dress trim and the centre of the poinsettia. Glossy Accents was also added to the gold berries in her hair.

Don’t you think the white poinsettia with gold accents and the gold holly leaves were perfect for my card! The only other embellishments needed were some gold glitter dots!

Christmas Holly Wishes Card

A card with stamped holly on it.
Christmas Holly Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Christmas Holly Wishes Card using the Leaves of Holly Bundle which includes the Leaves of Holly Stamp Set and the Holly Berry Dies by Stampin’ Up!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to make a Joy Fold card since it’s a card within a card and oh, so fun!

I love the Leaves of Holly Stamp Set with its Two-Step design to create images with added texture and dimension. Since the berries and holly are created with two stamps, I stamped the outline stamp first in Shaded Spruce and Garden Green for the holly and Cherry Cobbler for the berries on a piece of Basic White. Next, I inked the mostly solid stamp in the same colours, stamping on a piece of scrap paper to lighten the colour, and then stamping inside the outline.

Once I created my background for the die cut sentiment, I gold embossed the sentiment on Basic White and die cut it out. I die cut another piece in Cherry Cobbler which I then cut in half and adhered to the top and bottom.

The sentiment was layered on the die cut Garden Green/Shaded Spruce holly piece. I added some gold trim to tie in the gold embossed sentiment and placed it peeking out under the sentiment piece.

Next, I added Basic White for the stamped inside sentiment of the smaller card and to the base of the larger card followed by the DSP to both card bases. The sentiment piece was next. Finally, the two cards could be adhered together with the smaller one centred on the larger one. A finishing touch was some red rhinestones to mimic berries were added to the holly die cut.

My Hello Fall Card

A Fall card with a pumpkin, witches' hat and cat on it
My Hello Fall Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Hello Fall Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Sweet Autumn Kitty. This stamp is the quintessential Fall stamp with the pumpkin, fall leaves, acorns, a witch hat, and cat!

The Details of My Card

For my mini slimline card, I used this beautiful paper by P13 called The Four Seasons – Autumn and decided to colour the stamp to match. I couldn’t resist giving the leaves a fall colour using several Copic markers to get the variations in their colour. I have discovered that I love colouring pumpkins and getting such rich colour depth in them! The hat was coloured in a blue/violet tone to match some of the smaller berries on the paper and to give it an unexpected pop of colour. I went with a black cat since all witches should have a black cat! Lol!

Since the paper had a rustic feel to it, I blended some Walnut Stain to all the edges of the papers including the stamped piece. To add to the rustic charm, I added a frayed natural ribbon beneath my focal point. The sentiment is from an ephemera tag pack and summed up my theme perfectly! The metal leaf embellishment tied with linen thread, as well as the pumpkin chipboard, added to the Fall theme.

To further tie in my colour scheme, I coloured some rhinestones with my Copic markers and added them to opposite corners.

Mini Slimline Rose Card

A birthday card with a rose on it
Mini Slimline Rose Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I was honoured to be asked to present my colouring with Stampin’ Blends at a Playdate during World Card Making Day for fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. I am sharing my Mini Slimline Rose Card from the WCMD using products from the Abigail Rose Suite Collection by Stampin’ Up!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to use the Cottage Rose Stamp Set since the artist has indicated where the shadows are with their line art. I thought it would be a good image for beginners. It also has two different areas that I could demonstrate the techniques of light-to-dark on the petals and dark-to-light on the leaves. I have included links to some videos at the end of this post that cover these techniques and more.

The Split Card Textures Dies were top of my list to buy when I saw them in the catty. I have seen a lot of cards made with them using the regular A2 (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) card base, but I thought a mini slimline card would be a fun alternative!

Mini slimline cards can come is different sizes to match your design/products. For instance, a 3” x 6” mini slimline is perfect for 6” x 6” paper packs. They also come in 3 ½” x 6” or 3 ½” x 6 ½”. They fit in No. 8 envelope (3-5/8” x 6 ½”) which you can pick up at any dollar store. For my card I choose 3 ½” x 6” since this size fitted the Split Card Textures Die well.

I love how the Split Card Textures Die allows the beautiful Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper to show through on one half of the card while allowing the rose to fit perfectly in the other corner! Some Petal Pink die cut flowers extend the focal point into the card. The Natural Finish Ribbon adds a nice backdrop for the sentiment. And a scattering of gems, one on the flower and two in the top right corner, tie in the colour scheme.

Hues of Happiness Birthday Card

Two cards with flowers on them.
Hues of Happiness Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Hues of Happiness Birthday Card using the Hues of Happiness Suite Collection by Stampin’ Up!

The Details of My Card

This card was for a swap using products from the new Annual Catty. I love the bright and happy colours of the Hues of Happiness DSP! I also love that the dies die cut the flowers from the DSP!

Video of Die Cutting Flowers from the DSP

For my card, I thought a fun split panel card would work with the spiral notebook die as the panel joining the other 2 panels. I can see this spiral die working for so many cards, especially school cards! The two flowers and leaves were die cut from the DSP and matched the DSP colours on the panels.

One of the cards with pink and purple flowers on it
Version One of the Card

Since there are so many flowers that I could die cut, I decided to create different colour cards in the same layout. These two cards are only some of the colour combinations that I used.

A card with Blue and yellow flowers on it.
Second Version of the Card

Tip: to adhere the two card panels, I lined up the bottom panel with the bottom of the card base. Then, I added glue only to the top and bottom of the Basic White piece, careful not to add it too close to the centre. I made sure to leave enough room on the bottom panel to add my ribbon.

The sentiment was stamped onto ½” scrap and then snipped the edges on the angle. The Fresh Freesia was a 5/8” scrap and trimmed to match the Basic White piece.

The ribbon was wrapped around the bottom panel and tied in a bow. A scattering of matching Glossy Dots that come in the Suite added some shimmer.

Hello Ladybug Card

Card with a ladybug and daisies on it.
Hello Ladybug Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Hello Ladybug Card using the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set and matching Ladybug Builder Punch.

The Details of My Card

This card was for a swap, but the Annual Catty was retiring. We couldn’t use any retiring product on the card. So, my solution was lots of punches and embellishments that I knew would carry over!

For my card, I decided to use the Picture This Dies again since it reminded me of the dots on the ladybug’s wings. These dies are so versatile, and I have used them for several cards! I used the circles die for this card and thought it would be neat having the daisies popping out of the holes!

Before adhering with dimensionals the die cut Real Red piece to the Basic Black mat, I wrapped white Baker’s twine around one of the holes and tied it in a bow.

After lots of punching and layering 2 sets of petals on top of each other followed by the flower centre from the Poppy Moments Dies, I had 3 sets of flowers for the holes.

Next came the ladybug. But first, I heat embossed in black the spots before I punch the wings out of Real Red cardstock. Then I punched out the body in Basic Black and assembled the ladybug.

Since the stamp set is photopolymer and I could line up my stamp easily, I die cut the smallest circle out of the Circles Die and then stamped the hello in black. Tip: only use the part of the die you want, not the whole thing to save paper. Another tip is use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to allow you time to slide the sentiment piece in place.

A scattering of black Classic Dots and Red Rhinestones tied in my ladybug theme.
