It’s Laurie here with My Christmas Nativity Scene as my Design Team Inspiration for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios. This time I wanted to create something a little different than a card! So, I made a multi layered shadowbox that lights up using the beautiful Nativity Christmas Digital Stamp.

The Details of My Scene

I had so much fun colouring the Holy Family with my Copic Markers! Once I did that, I created my scene using a number of dies from my stash. I ended up with 4 different layers. I love my focal point of the Family and the manger behind them! The In Good Taste Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up  has photographic images of wood. Perfect for my manger.

TIP: Since the inside of the frame is smaller than the outside, I made my largest layer 5 5/8″ x 5 5/8″. All layers were 5 5/8″ wide with varying heights depending on their position.

The next step was to attach the lights. The wire from the lights was very malleable allowing me to position them exactly where I wanted. I even added a couple of lights behind Jesus’s head to give him a glow. I ended up using a ton of scotch tape to secure the lights.

Once the lights were in place, the next step was to add Foam Adhesive Strips between the layers.

Not everyone is into home decor, but this project could easily be made into a card. If I remove the frame and lights, you get a good idea of how a card would look.

My Design Team Card

It’s Laurie here with A Grand Adventure Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her cute Elephant Adventure Digital Stamp. This little girl looks like she is in for the ride of her life and making great memories as she does! One day, I hope to visit Africa and go on Safari with cameras. It’s on my Bucket List!

For my card, it may be hard to see, but the paper has elephants on it along with some other animals like giraffes, birds, hyaenas and more. So I knew I wanted to use that as my base for the card design. Even the Great Memories tag with the elephant came from that paper pack! The iconic Acacia Tree that is behind the tag came from the Safari Collection Dies and was perfect for my African theme!

It’s Laurie here with My Christmas Sled Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her The Little Sled Christmas Digital Stamp. Isn’t he just darling! When you were little, did your family go out tree hunting?

For my card, I wanted to create a natural feel since this little guy is picking out his Christmas tree in the snow. So I used things like the natural wooden star and tree, the linen thread, Natural White and Kraft Card Stock to add to my feel. Of course, you have to wear red and green when picking out your tree! I thought the papers, especially the O Christmas Tree flag at the top, were perfect for my card!

It’s Laurie here with My Snow Family Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her sweet Snowman Family Christmas Digital Stamp.

I knew that I wanted to colour the family as a Momma Snowman and her little girl. I pulled the colours from the bright and cheery Doodlebug Winter Wonderland Paper Pad. Don’t you just love Doodlebug! Of course, you have to have lots of glitter when you are making a snowman card! In fact, I have it everywhere…on the card, on me, on my craft table! LOL! I dabbed some glue in the sky and on the ground and sprinkle glitter all over to create my snowy scene. I love the Frosty border and the snowflake die cuts from the Sparkle Glimmer Paper. The blue gems really glitter as well! This card is so pretty and sparkly in person!

My Happy Thanksgiving Card

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with My Happy Thanksgiving Card for the Design Team of Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using their sweet Thanksgiving Digital Stamp.

I had so much fun colouring with my Copic Markers all the harvest vegetables and fruit that are overflowing the cornucopia. I thought the Hello Autumn Paper Pad was perfect for my card with such rich autumnal colours. The “Blessings” chalkboard sentiment was from that paper pad as well. The sheet had a number of chalkboards and I just snipped the Blessings one out since I thought it summed up my card wonderfully. I love the die cut pumpkin and wheat stalks that are mounted behind the sentiment giving it some dimension. The “thankful” die was ideal for my card and I love how it overlaps the main focal point of the coloured image. A couple of wooden embellishments and Clear Gelly Roll Pen on the swirls add a final touch to my card.

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Sweet Christmas Angels Cards for the Design Team of Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her cute Angels Christmas Digital Stamp. I had so much fun colouring these cuties that I ended up colouring two stamps! One with the traditional red, green and gold. The other one with soft pastel colours of pink, blue and gold. I had a This or That post of the coloured stamps earlier this week and was pleasantly surprised that they both were popular. Many people had a hard time choosing just one and so did I! So I created two cards with the same layout, just different papers and colour schemes.

My Happy Halloween Design Team Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Happy Halloween Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios. My card is using the super cute Halloween Costumes Digital Stamp! Halloween is just around the corner and this year will be different for everyone, especially the little ones.

For my card, I decided to create a haunted house scene as these cute Trick-or-treaters make their rounds. To create the spooky night sky, I used a technique with my Copic Markers that I learned from Elaine Hughes, Marker Geek. It is called the Copic Galaxy Background and was so fun to see it transform before my eyes. I didn’t have FBG2. So, I used BG32 instead and it worked just as well. For the galaxy stars, I used my Tim Holtz Distress Splatter Brush. I also used a White Gelly Roll Pen and the Colorless Blender, to make my some of my stars appear brighter/closer. I am very happy with how my night sky turned out!

I decided to create a vignette of the night sky that sets off my spooky scene. The paper with the branches and birds was perfect for my card and a die cut tree on the left adds to the branches. The haunted house is lit up ready for tricker-or-treaters, but with lots of notices to keep out. It reminds me of when I was little, some people decorated the inside of their houses as well. You could enter but beware! I decided to fussy cut the cute little animals out so that the scene can surround them. I just love them and wanted to make them the focal point of my card!

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Happy Anniversary Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios. It is also being used for the Using Pattern Paper Challenge over on the Rachelle Anne Miller Digital Stamps Facebook Group. My card is using the ‘Young Love’ Digital Stamp that will be release in the future. On Thursday is our 26th Wedding Anniversary and this is the card that I am giving my hubby! 

For my card, I wanted it to be all about our love with lots of hearts! I even coloured the girl and boy in our colours though it has been a long time since I have had long hair! Lol!

I love this sweet stamp so much with the boy giving his girl a Gerbera Daisy (one of my favourite flowers)! And did you see the cutest teddy bear siting on the bench beside the couple! Love that this guy is all about flowers and prezzies like mine is!! A bit of shimmer is added with the gold heart doily, Gold Foil Paper, the sequins and the jeweled brad. I also used two types of ribbon to add a softness to my card. I love the pink crochet heart and I couldn’t resist attaching the floral embellishment with the jewelled brad that mimics the gerbera daisy! Hope you like my card as much as I hope my Hubby likes it!

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Hello Fall Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her sweet Fall Dance Digital Stamp. With the last long weekend having just passed and children starting back to school, Autumn is just around the corner in Canada. I love the cooler temperatures and the changing colour of the leaves! Such a beautiful time of year! Bet you can guess that it’s my favourite season of the year!

For my card, I used autumnal colours of reds, greens, oranges, yellows and browns that I pulled from the pattern paper. The die cut and embossed leaves match the colours in the scene that I created perfectly! One technique that I used for the fallen leaves is to use the side of my Copic marker to create their shape. It’s amazing how much they look like leaves when you do this, but it’s such an easy technique! I learned this technique from the March 2020 Marker Class “Mourning Fairy” with Sweet Sentiment. I love the wooden picket fence peeking out from behind the focal point! A couple of embellishment including the wooden banner element and the Linen Thread holding the pinecone all tie together the Autumn theme of my card.

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Bunny Love Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her cute Girl & Bunny Digital Stamp. Isn’t this the sweetest image! I had a lot of fun colouring her with my Copic Markers! I love how her whole world is her stuffed bunny! As a child, have you ever loved your stuffie so much? 💕 So, I wanted to create a card with lots of hearts that shows that love. It’s amazing when you are young, how your stuffies really inspire creativity, a sense of security and love! You can tell them anything! When I was little, I had a stuffie called Horse, even though he was a dog (lol…he was from a rocking horse). He was as big as me and went everywhere that I went.

My Woodland Camping Fun Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Woodland Camping Fun Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her cute Woodland Camping Digital Stamp. Isn’t this the sweetest image! I had a lot of fun colouring it with my Copic Markers! I decided to create a day time scene instead of a night time one to show you the versatility of the stamp.

Where marshmallows are involved, I love to eat them anytime! On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you like your marshmallows toasted? I love mine black on the outside and gooey melty on the inside like #9! Yum!

To make the fluffy clouds in the sky, I first masked the tent and animals with a Post-it Note. I then sponged Balmy Blue ink with a Picket Fences Blender Brush on the Krafty Scenery Stencil by Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps. By brushing the ink on the stencil in different angles, the clouds fill the sky.

I love the sentiment from the Summer Adventure Paper Pad, “Like campfires and marshmallows, we are better TOGETHER!”! It sums up this card perfectly with the little boy and his furry friends!

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Chasing Butterflies Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her sweet Chasing Butterflies Digital Stamp. I had a lot of fun creating this scene with all the wonderful layers and die cuts that make it up! There was a lot of dimensionals used to get the scene just the way I wanted. The bright colours of the card stock and Doodlebug Paper were perfect for such a happy carefree image! I can just see her running through the grass trying to catch a butterfly!

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Christmas Cookies Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using the Christmas Baking Digital Stamp. One of my fondest memories of when I was little was making Christmas cookies with my mom. I loved to decorate them and, of course, eat them! I still make cookies each year but have limited them to only a few favourites. Otherwise, my waist wouldn’t like me! LOL!

This sweet image was so fun to colour with my Copic Markers and I thought the cookie cutter embellishments were perfect for my card! Doesn’t the Doodlebug paper with the holly on it look like the little girl’s apron! And of course, I had to have gingerbread people holding the sentiment which suites the card to a Christmas star!

My Storytime Design Team Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with my Storytime Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using their Storytime Digital Stamp. This is my first card as a new Design Team Member for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios! I’m so excited to join such a talented team!

I love this sweet image with all the cute forest friends gathered around to listen to a story! The panels to the left are all the wonderful stories they are reading. Once Upon a Time…there was a ranger who confronted a dragon guarding his hoard. Once Upon a Time…there was a knight on a chivalrous quest. Or, maybe they are reading Jack and the Beanstalk as the vine travels to the clouds! This image just sparks my imagination! The sentiment is from a Kraftin Kimmie Stamp that I thought was perfect for these little forest friends! “We’ll be friends forever…the end!”
