My Inconceivable Birthday Card

My Inconceivable Birthday Card - a birthday card with different fantasy scenes and characters
My Inconceivable Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here to share My Inconceivable Birthday Card using the Twoo Luv Stamp Set by Kindred Stamps. A good friend’s birthday was recent, and he loves a certain movie and book. So, I couldn’t resist creating this card for him with scenes from the movie!

The Details of My Inconceivable Birthday Card

For my card, I thought it would be fun to create a slimline card with the Film Strip Die by Whimsy Stamps. Each windows had a scene from the movie including the castle for The Giant since he is part of the Brute Squad, the Cliffs of Insanity for the big sword fight with the Fencer and the escape of the two sweethearts in the Fire Swamp.

But first, I coloured all the characters with my Copic markers and cut them out with my Brother Scan n’ Cut.

Once that was done, I pulled out my Whimsy Slimline papers to find the perfect backdrops for my scenes. I had to cut the papers down to fit the windows. So, I ended up using two different papers from two different paper packs. The top two windows were from the Enchanted Kingdom Slimline Paper Pack and the last window was from the Enchanted Forest Slimline Paper Pack.

Next, I decorated the inside of my card with another die cut film strip. For this one I did some stamping using the stamp set in the windows. The “Hello my name is”, I placed at the top so that I can add my friend’s name. Then, I added the final character, the Sicilian whose favourite word was “inconceivable” beneath the sentiment.

Warm Winter Wishes Card

Warm Winter Wishes Card - A Christmas card with a girl holding a tree and squirrel
Warm Winter Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Warm Winter Wishes Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Sally and Little Squirrel.

The Details of My Warm Winter Wishes Card

This stamp was one of the first stamps by Conie Fong Art & Design that I bought! I just loved Sally with her little friend, and I knew that I wanted to colour her with some of my favourite Copic marker combos!

I had this gorgeous Ciao Bella Paper that I thought would be a perfect background for her! So, I decided to make a slimline card that would show as much of the wintery scene as possible including the house.

To tie in the pinks, I went with some Rose Red card stock on which I layered vellum with silver foiled snowflakes to tie in the wintery feeling of my card.

For my sentiment cluster, I layered several flags with the different papers that I used on my card. A wooden snowflake and some linen thread add to the rustic feel of my wintery scene.

Finally, for sparkle, I added some Balmy Blue punched snowflakes to my scene, as well as Star Dust Stickles to Sally’s hat’s pompom and the snow that she is standing on. Clear Wink of Stella was used on the flower on her hat and Clear Star to the polka dots on her scarf.

Aren’t these just the cutest trick-or-treaters! I had a lot of fun colouring them with my Copic markers in spooky Halloween colours to match my paper!

For my card, I thought it would be fun to use my slimline ticket die since they are going to a Halloween carnival! Even the paper suits the Halloween carnival theme! I especially like the “admit one” paper behind the mummy ready to be torn off as he enters! Lol! The other two are partying with all their friend!

For the black arrow banner, I mounted an “Oct. 31” tag from the Doodlebug paper and added an iridescent ribbon to it. The only other embellishment, I added were a few Gorgeous Grape Glossy Dots.

Finally, to add some sparkle, I used Gold Star Gelly Roll Pen on the witch’s shoe buckles and Clear Wink of Stella to the ribbon on her hat and bow.

Game On Birthday Card

Game On Birthday Card - a birthday card with the Mario Brothers on it
Game On Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Game On Birthday Card using the Plumber Brothers and Company by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Card. This Set comes with 14 digital stamps, and I used 8 of them on my card.

The Details of My Game On Birthday Card

Everyone loves the classic Mario Brothers video game! For my card, I wanted to create their world using the different elements that they must encounter. So, I coloured my stamps with my Copic markers in bright primary colours.

My Colouring of the different stamps
My Colouring

Next, I decided to use the Enchanted Kingdom Slimline Designer Paper by Whimsy. The primary colours and scene were perfect for my Mario world!

I die cut this slimline paper with the Slimline Windows Dies by Whimsy to create the different levels in which I could insert my elements. I popped up the frame using adhesive strips to limit the sagging especially along the top and bottom edges. Next, I adhered with liquid glue the leftover die cut scene squares to the card base to create dimension. Tip: liquid glue gives you time to position the squares and allow wiggle room to get them just right.

Left Side of Card

Once the scene was in place, I added my elements to the different squares to create my Mario world.

Right Side of Card

The sentiment was stamped in black and die cut out with a stitched rectangle. I added a star to one side to help with the balance.

The finishing touch was to add Mario and Luigi to the card. Voilà! Game On! My Mario world was complete!

Gnome for Christmas Card

Gnome for Christmas Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Gnome for Christmas Card as my Design Team Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the cute Christmas Tree Gnome and Sentiment. This bundle comes with 4 images:

  • Image 1-2: Christmas Tree Gnome PNG/JPG format
  • Image 3-4: Sentiment Have A Very Merry Gnome Christmas PNG/JPG format

Details of My Gnome for Christmas Card

I had so much fun colouring this sweet gnome with my Copic markers that I coloured him twice in different shades of green. So, I have created two different cards showing the possibilities and will link my other mini slimline card at the end of this post.

Christmas Tree Gnome
Christmas Tree Gnome

For this card, I decided to create another slimline card for this cutie. I love the scenes in the Home for the Holidays paper by Stamperia and wanted to use as much of the scene as possible, especially the house and deer! So, I created a full slimline card this time.

All that the scene needed was some pine branches to frame my sentiment and a scattering of glimmer snowflakes. I decided to frame the whole scene with the Essential Cutting Slimline Dies by Studio Light with a bottom layer in Shaded Spruce to hide the ends of the pine branches and then a Real Red layer popped up on top.

The finishing touch was a scattering of wooden stars around the sentiment and Star Dust Stickles added to the star and pompoms on his hat.

My Shellabrate Birthday Card

My Shellabrate Birthday Card - a birthday card with a mermaid holding a seahorse on it
My Shellabrate Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! One final mermaid card for MerMay from me! I am sharing My Shellabrate Birthday Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Mermaid Ellie with Seahorse

The Details of My Shellabrate Birthday Card

For my card, I decided to use the Mermaid Tales Collection Kit by Echo Park since it was perfect for my Mermaid theme! The Kit came with paper and stickers. So, I used the “Sparkle & Shine” sticker as well as the paper on my card. The Shellabrate flag was from the Mermaid Dreams Frames & Tags also by Echo Park.

Once I picked my papers, I used the colours from it to colour Ellie with my Copic markers. I used Clear Wink of Stella on her tail and on the fins of the seahorse to add some sparkle just like the sticker said!

Next, I added an angel fish die cut to match the fish in the paper, as well as a shell and seaweed beside the sticker to help ground her.

Finally, for embellishments, I added three dew drops that look like air bubbles to mirror the air bubble paper. I also added a black rhinestone for the fish’s eye.

My Welcome MerMay Card

My Welcome MerMay Card - a mermaid in an underwater scene
My Welcome MerMay Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Welcome MerMay Card using the new release Little Mermaid by Conie Fong Art & Design as my Design Team Inspiration Card. Every May is MerMay in the card making industry and Conie Fong didn’t disappoint with this new release! Welcome to MerMay!

The Details of My Welcome MerMay Card

For my card, I decided to create a mini slimline card with an underwater scene for this cutie. The Mermaid Tales paper had a scene that was perfect for my background! Behind that I added paper with blue/green mermaid scales with golden accents and gold foil borders.

But first, I coloured my mermaid with my Copic markers in watery blue/green colours to match my scene. I had a lot of fun colouring the tail so that it shimmers between the blues to the greens! To add more shimmer, I used Clear Wink of Stella on her tail and Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen on her starfish in her hair.

Next, I die cut the sandy bottom with the Slimline Stitched Hillside Border and used the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to give it some texture. Once that was done, I brushed Crumb Cake ink along the edges for even more texture.

To create a backdrop for her, I die cut a Basic White shell on which I brushed Crumb Cake to bring out the detail. Behind that, I added a gold fold die cut coral to tie in my golden accents.

The sentiment flag was from the Mermaid Dreams Frames & Tags and was perfect for my card! I layered beneath it another die cut flag with gold shells on it. Even more gold accents! Lol! All these golden accents really added a beautiful sparkle to the card!

The finishing touch was a scattering of dew drops which I thought looked like air bubbles.

My Purr-Fect Day Card

My Purr-Fect Day Card - a birthday card with a cat holding balloons as he floats up
My Purr-Fect Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Purr-Fect Day Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the new release Cat With Balloons. Isn’t he just the cutest floating with his balloons!

The Details of My Purr-Fect Day Card

For my card, I decided to create a slimline slider card so that the cat looked like he was floating up as the mechanism was pulled!

So, I created a scene with the slimline clouds die from Whimsy and the stitched sun from the Spring Showers Dies. Next, I layered the Sunny Days Designer Series Paper behind it to add more clouds. Once that was done, I added a house that I fussy cut from the P13 paper and layered a few stitched hills in front.

To keep my card simple since I didn’t want to detract from the slider, I added a sentiment die cut with a stitched rectangle.

Now that the front of the card was done, it was time to create the mechanism for the slider using the Slimline Pull Tab Dies by Heffy Doodle. Tip: I used the Foam Adhesive Strips by Stampin’ Up! to create enough dimension between the front of the card and the card base to help the slider mechanism to move smoothly.

Yeti for the Holidays?

Yeti for the Holidays? - A Christmas Card with a Yeti Father and Son getting a Christmas Tree.
Yeti for the Holidays?

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Yeti for the Holidays? as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Yeti Father and Son. I just love these cuties. There is a Yeti Mom and Baby that you could add to this card for the whole family! Lol!

The Details of My Yeti for the Holidays?

I had a lot of fun colouring these two with my Copic markers! I decided to create a fur texture with individual strokes in the shadows and left the highlights white. The tree was also coloured with individual strokes to create texture. The Father Yeti’s tie pulled together my colour scheme of red and green.

For my card, I wanted to use the Whimsy paper with these cuties. This paper is perfect for those wintery scenes! In fact, I used it for another card that I made a few years ago and will post it at the end.

So, I created a slimline card using the Dotted Slimline Dies by Studio Katia. I used all three dies that came in the set to create my card. I thought it would be fun having the yetis stepping out of the wintery scene with their Christmas tree.

To complete my wintery scene and to add interest, I used a Stitched Hillside Die to add an extra layer to the scene. I made sure that my “snowbank” did not cover up the snow-covered trees on the background.

Next, I typed and printed my sentiment out on my computer. There are so many great sentiments out there that it was hard to pick one! Lol! The sentiment was die cut out with another stitched die.

For embellishments, I used some wooden snowflakes that I had in my stash for that rustic look and a scattering of red rhinestones to add sparkle.

Celebrate the Season Card

Celebrate the Season Card - Christmas card with a girl wearing a snowman sweater and holding a candy cane
Celebrate the Season Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Celebrate the Season Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the digital stamp called Emma in Christmas Sweater

Details of My Celebrate the Season Card

For my card, I decided to create a mini slimline card using the Pink Fresh scallop die. What is so nice about this die is that it cuts two scallop rectangles at once. I used both scallop rectangles with one in pink and one in red to match my colour scheme.

I love Mintay Papers, and the Merry Little Christmas paper is gorgeous! So, I decided to use it for my colour scheme of red and pink with white accents. I coloured Emma with my Copic markers to match my colour scheme. Don’t you just love her snowman sweater! In fact, I have coloured this stamp before. I will include a link at the end of this post to the other card that I made using her.

For the sentiment cluster, I used a silver snowflake to add some sparkle, a fussy cut candy cane from the Mintay paper and a die cut sentiment.

Next, I used Glossy Accents on the candy cane and Stardust Stickles on the trim of the hats and boots. The only thing left was to add a few red rhinestones for a bit more sparkle.

My Spooky Season Card

My Spooky Season Card - A Halloween Card with A boy holding shovel and girl holding a knife.
My Spooky Season Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Happy Halloween! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Spooky Season Card using Scary Doll Owen and Scary Doll Emma by Paper Nest Dolls as my Design Team Inspiration Card. I couldn’t resist squeaking in one final Halloween card!

The Details of My Spooky Season Card

For my card, I had to do some research! I’m not a big horror fan. So, I had to google what these characters were and colour them according to the photos online. Lol! I used my Copic markers to colour them and added Glossy Accents to the shovel and the knife. Also, I added silver gelly roll pen to all the metallic trim on Emma’s jacket.

Since I had two stamps to place on my card, I decided to create a slimline card, but I thought it would be fun to use the tag “Tis the Season to be Spooky”. So, I brushed Black Soot along the edges to give it a distressed feel. Next, I added a black mat to the tag and rubbed Brushed Iron wax on the mat, the die cut gates, and the mat of my card to tie them all in together. Once I did that, I placed my sentiment sticking above the card with an iron gate on either side of it with my characters layered in front.

I love the oval dies that I used for the black mat and the Skull and cross bone paper! Such a fun and interesting shape!

For embellishments, I used several bats and black rhinestone stickers, as well as a spider trinket that I placed over the printed spider on the tag. The only other thing that I added was the reverse “Scary” word to the tag. It summed up my card perfectly!

Merry Christmas Elves Card

Merry Christmas Elves Card - A Christmas card with three girl elves on it.
Merry Christmas Elves Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Merry Christmas Elves Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Christmas Girl Elves. This purchase includes 8 Images:

  • Image 3 & 4: Candy Cane Girl Elf JPG / PNG format
  • Image 5 & 6: Little Gift Girl Elf JPG / PNG format
  • Image 7 & 8: Big Gift Girl Elf JPG / PNG format

The Details of My Merry Christmas Elves Card

For my card, I decided to go with traditional colours and use my favourites red and green Copic markers for these cuties. Once they were coloured, I went with an 8 ½” x 4” slimline card to fit my colouring.

I also decided that I wanted to create a rustic look to match my papers. So, I blended Vintage Photo ink along the edges of my coloured piece to make them look worn.

The Simple Stories paper matched my Copic colours perfectly! Since my card was so long, I used a 12” x 12” paper for the base and the smaller 6” x 6” pad for accent pieces. These accent pieces were die cut ticket stubs that I repurposed to create some interest in the background papers. I cut two of them using the Simple Stories paper and two Real Red ones that I used as a border. I placed these accents on either side of my colouring.

Next, I added some holly flourishes along the edges of my coloured piece. The “Merry” “& Bright” sentiments were stamped in Mossy Meadow and Real Red to match my colour scheme and cut out with my paper snips. They were layered onto a wooden star for that rustic feel with a Real Red stitched circle. The “25” was a tag from the Santa Claus Lane Frames & Tags which I layered another stitched circle underneath.

To add some sparkle, I used Star Dust Stickles on the white trim of their outfits and Clear Wink of Stella on the ribbons of the presents. Glossy Accents was added to the candy cane to give it a shine. A scattering of red rhinestones was added to match my colour scheme and for even more sparkle.

Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card

Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card - a birthday card with a cat holding a balloon
Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card using the Grouchy Pets Clear Stamp Set and matching dies by CC Designs. It was my sister-in-law’s birthday recently and I thought she would find this kind of snarky card funny!

The Details of My Card

For my Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card, I knew that I wanted to use the grouchy cats from CC Designs since I thought my SIL (sister-in-law) would get a kick out of them! Plus, I found the perfect poem online that I typed out on my computer and printed off. If you watch Sheldon the TV series, you will get the reference. I knew that my SIL would get a laugh out of it!

A poem about a grouch cat
Grouchy Kitty Poem

My SIL has a brown tabby cat. So, I coloured with my Copic markers one of the cats to look like it. For variation, I made another black and the third an orange tabby. For the tabby cats, I used a Copic multi liner to create their stripes in a triangle scribble shape.

Next, I pulled out my Small Slimline with Lift the Flaps Dies by Lawn Fawn. I love this interactive die set! So fun! I thought it would be neat to have one cat on the front holding a balloon. Don’t you just love the face on this cat! Like he is so put out that he must hold a balloon! Lol!

When the flaps are open, you see the other cats and the grouchy kitty poem. I used my paper snips to cut down the cats to fit and added a party hat sticker to each of the cats. Again, the faces of those cats are so priceless especially since they must wear party hats! I can definitely see a cat making that face! Lol!

I added a few present stickers to dress up the poem panel. On the front of the card, I added some paw gems and red rhinestones for embellishments.

My Sliding Santa Card

My Sliding Santa Card - A Christmas Card with Santa on a floatie in a pool.
My Sliding Santa Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Sliding Santa Card for Christmas in July and as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the Vacation Santa Set. There are 7 stamps, which include Surfer Santa, Ice-cream Santa, Santa with Reindeer Floatie, Santa & Mrs. Claus, Palm Tree and Flamingo & Gifts, that come in both rubber and digital stamps. I made a card with Ice-cream Santa from this set as well and will include a link to it at the end of this post.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create fun interactive slider card using Santa with Reindeer Floatie. I had so much fun colouring this cutie with my Copic markers! In fact, I coloured two of him and will use the second version on another card. I added some white Gelly Roll Pen to his floatie and Rudolph’s nose to give them a shine.

Next, I wanted to see the different layers of the papers behind him. So, I used two different slimline die sets. I picked a water-like paper for the slider piece as if he is going down a river twirling around like at one of those amusement parks. Lol! I kept the cut-out piece from the slider die and glued it through the hole onto the layer below it so that you couldn’t see the orange layer below. This added to my pool like feel.

I used some slider discs to create my slider, but in the past, I have also used pennies. I made sure that my dimensionals were round so that I could get him spinning around. There is a good video by Taylored Expressions on making a slider card using their discs. I followed it to create my slider part. I will add a link at the end of this post.

My Sliding Santa Card in Action

I decorated my card using some Christmas Chit Chat pieces. I popped up the sentiment ones making sure that my Santa would not get caught on them. A couple of matching glitter dots were added to add some sparkle.

My MerMay Card

A card with three mermaids on it
My MerMay Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My MerMay Card using the Mermaid Set by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Card. This Set comes with 12 digital stamps, and I use 3 of them on my card.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create an underwater scene using the Under the Sea Slimline Designer Paper by Whimsy. Once I decided which sheet of paper to use, I coloured my mermaids with my Copic markers in different colours to match my paper,

I die cut the Whimsy Bubbles in a lighter blue designer paper to make them stand out from the background and highlight my mermaids. Then I placed my mermaids so that they each centered on the circles with the one sitting on the rock overlapping the sentiment. The sentiment was sitting on my desk leftover from another mermaid card. Crumb Cake ink was brushed over the sentiment to give it a sandy feel.

Next, I added real shells in the bottom corners on top of some pink and green vellum die cut seaweed. A silver seahorse charm was added to the sentiment using my Flush Wire Cutter to cut off the loops on the charm to make it lie flat. Tip: use Glossy Accents to create a strong adhesive hold for shells and charm.

I added a scattering of clear bubble embellishments to mimic air bubbles in the water and add dimension.

Clear Wink of Stella was added to the mermaids’ tails and starfish to give them a subtle shimmer and Glossy Accents to the pearl and braid tie for the Green Mermaid.
