Will You Be My Valentine Viking?

Valentine card with a Viking on it
Will You Be My Valentine Viking?

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Will You Be My Valentine Viking? for my Design Team Inspiration for Paper Nest Dolls. Can you see a theme this week in my Valentine cards for my Hubby? Lol! He loves history especially Vikings! So, I used Viking Andrew with mustache ties from the Viking Bundle. This bundle has three characters and two animals – Viking Andrew (with and without the mustache ties), Viking Owen, Viking Dragon, and Viking Boar. I have created several Viking cards over the years and will include links to them at the end of this post as well.

The Details of my Card

I had so much fun colouring with my Copic markers this brawny guy in appropriate Viking colours! His colouring even matches another card called My Let’s Go A-Viking Card that I made for Paper Nest Dolls for their New Year’s Day Event. Wouldn’t these two make a perfect pair!

My Let’s Go a Viking Card

For my card, I found some neat digital paper with Viking watercolour images that suited my theme. The Viking ships in the bottom panel were from an invitation in the digital package, and I just cropped it to include only the ships. I then had a choice of which ship to highlight and went with the red/white sail one to match my reds.

Since this is for my Hubby, I kept the embellishments minimal with several die-cut hearts for my Valentine theme and a scattering of red rhinestones. I love how the Viking chipboard accents highlight the fun sentiment that I punch out with heart punches.

My Father’s Day Card

My Father's Day Card
My Father’s Day Card

Today is I am sharing My Father’s Day Card that is using the Handsomely Suited Bundle by Stampin’ Up! I decided to create a Centre-Step Fun Fold card with the shirt on the centre panel. There is a link at the end of this post to a Horizontal Centre-Step Template.

The Details of My Card

My Father-in-law isn’t a suit kind of guy, but he does wear golf shirts in blues. So, I created a short sleeve golf shirt using the Well Suited Designer Series Paper. For the sleeves, I used the pocket die and the shirt was die cut from the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I trimmed the stitched rectangle to 4 ¼” after it was die cut to fit an envelope. A number of his shirts are Lacoste with a small green allegator on the left side. Since I didn’t have any alligator dies, I used the hearts from the paws of the Pets Dies. I also figured that having a heart to represent his real heart was perfect for Father’s Day!

My Father's Day Card
My Father’s Day Card

For my sentiment, I didn’t think “Have a Happy Father’s Day Handsome” coming from both my husband and I would be appropriate for my father-in-law. So, I used the technique of covering the part of the sentiment that I didn’t want with scotch tape. Then, I inked the stamp up and removed the tape before stamping. Once the sentiment was stamped like this, I discovered that it fit perfectly in one of the dies from the Tasteful Labels Dies. The Pacific Point banner that flanks my sentiment was also from the Tasteful Labels Dies, but it wasn’t long enough to show on both sides of my sentiment. So, I cut in half giving the illusion that my banner is longer than it is.

For my other panels, I used the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper since he is a very handy man and likes to build things with wood. The Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder was perfect for that material kind of look it gives my card.

Tips for Cutting/Scoring Card Base

At 1 ¼” from the edge of the long side of card stock cut from 1” to 5 ¼” using the Paper Trimmer blade guide. Once I cut one side, I flipped the card stock over to cut the other side. Make sure that your new cut line will be parallel to the first one. Turn so that the long edge of card stock is horizontal and score side panels at 1”, 2” and 5 ¼” and 4 ¼” for the centre panel. My Super Birthday Cards

My Super Birthday Cards
My Super Birthday Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Yesterday was a little boy’s birthday and a few weeks ago was a big boy’s birthday. The big boy collects comics especially Superman and the little boy sent me a card with a Superman stamp on the envelope. So, I pulled out my Save The Day Grab and Go Box by Stamp Anniething to make My Super Birthday Cards.

The Details of My Cards

I love that this Grab and Go Box has everything you need to make your card including paper, adhesive, card bases and more! I stamped my super heroes twice and used my Copic Markers to colour them. Then I die cut them out using the matching die included in the box.

My Super Birthday Card - Version 1
My Super Birthday Card – Version 1

My cards were quick ones to make since I mainly used the Save the Day paper sheets and the Comic Mat Die that come with the box. For one card, I pulled out the Background Scene Stencil and did some inking directly onto the white panel that was cut out from the Comic Mat Die. Next, I stamped the sentiment in black and just placed it back into the empty slot on the mat. The other panels were filled with different papers. I love the “Suddenly” just like in the old comics! I stamped the Whoosh!, coloured them with my Copic markers and then added Glossy Accents to make them pop. A few sequins add to the sparkle of the card.

For my other card, I decided to use the “POW” from the paper since the big birthday boy would get a kick out of it from the old TV shows that we use to watch.

One final piece was that I put my super heroes onto Action Wobbles. How fun is that! The recipient can have them wobble on the card! Check it out!

Soar Confidently Birthday Card

Birthday Card
Soar Confidently Birthday Card

Today is I am sharing my Soar Confidently Birthday Card that I made for my father-in-law’s birthday that was yesterday using the Soar Confidently Stamp Set. My father-in-law loves planes, and I knew that a card with the plane from this set would be perfect for him! I just happened to decide to use all the images, as well as the plane.

The Details of My Card

Since the images look vintage, I decided to create an old world feel to my card. So, once I stamped my images on Very Vanilla card stock, I used my Blender Pen to “colour” the stamped images in certain areas where the line art was the strongest. I then fussy cut the stamped images out with my Paper Snips. To give my card more of a vintage feel I sponged ink along the edges. I usually don’t mix Very Vanilla and Basic White but thought the vintage look I was going for allowed it to work.

I decided to use the World of Good Designer Series Paper since it is perfect for a masculine card! Specifically, the one with the compasses on the Misty Moonlight background which reminded me of a blue sky. This paper is retiring and is currently on sale!

For my card, I wanted all the different flying machines to be in the air. So, I need some clouds which is where the Mountain Air Bundle came into effect. I stamped them in Misty Moonlight, but stamped off twice before stamping them on the Basic White card stock to give them a soft fluffy look.

I stamped the sentiment in a Stitched Rectangle, add a couple of banners with one in copper foil to match the copper stars from the Star Designer Elements.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Soar Confidently Stamp Set (154531), Mountain Air Bundle (153820), Stitched Rectangles Dies (151820), Tasteful Labels Dies (152886)

Inks: Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin’ Pad (153118), Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad (147114)

Paper: Early Espresso (119686), Very Vanilla (101650), Basic White (159276), World of Good Designer Series Paper (152491), Copper Foil Sheets (142020)

Accessories: Star Designer Elements (150430), Blender Pens (102845), Stamping Sponges (141337), Paper Snips (103579), Bone Folder (102300), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Stampin’ Seal (152813), Glue Dots (103683)

    • ½” x 2 3/16” (banner)
  • World of Good Designer Series Paper: 5 ¼” x 4”
  • Basic White: 5 ¼” x 4” (inside piece)

My Roll With It Shaker Card

My Roll With It Shaker Card
My Roll With It Shaker Card

Tomorrow is my Hubby’s birthday! So, today I am sharing with you my Roll With It Shaker Card that I plan to give to him. I thought a shaker card would be so fun! It is using two stamp sets, Whiskey Business and Game On, that are perfect for him! We love to play games and have game time with our friends and family on a regular basis! Now he can shake the card and his dice will always come up 6 and 5! LOL! I even coloured the dice with the Real Red and Just Jade Stampin’ Blends to match the ones that he uses. In addition to gaming, he loves his single malt scotch and is always trying different types.

Details of My Roll With It Shaker Card

For my card, I wanted to create a masculine feel. So, the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper with Early Espresso card stock was perfect for it! I use the two largest Stitched Nested Labels to create my window frame. I stamped the checkerboard in Memento Black off twice before I randomly stamped it a third time on my Whisper White background piece. Once I did this, I created my shaker part with Foam Adhesive Strips, a piece of Window Sheet, a pinch of Woven Threads Sequins and my “dice”.

For the dice and the scotch, I stamped them on Whisper White with Memento Black. I then used my Stampin’ Blends to colour them. The dice were Real Red Dark/Light and Just Jade Dark/Light with Cinnamon Cider Dark/Light for the ground. The Scotch was Cinnamon Cider Dark/Light and Mango Melody Dark with Balmy Blue Light and Color Lifter for the glass. Once these were coloured, I fussy cut them out.

The sentiment stamped in Memento Black from Game On with a splash of Real Red behind it was perfect for my card! The finishing touch was decorating the inside by combining the two stamp sets again to create my sentiment.

My Whiskey Business Card

I was honoured to be asked to virtually demonstrate in a Facebook Live my Blends Colouring Techniques to some fellow demonstrators. So, I thought I would share for Technique Tuesdays some of my colouring techniques from the live video each week highlighting a card that I presented. The first card that I am highlighting this week is my Whiskey Business Card. I hope you will check back each week and maybe learn something new!

This card is perfect for that man in your life who loves his whiskey! This can be a Father’s Day card, a birthday card, a congratulations card…so many options. For this card, I wanted to create an old-world library kind of feel with the whiskey on a brass platter waiting for someone to help themselves. The World of Good Designer Series Paper with the wood image lends itself very well to that feel. The Early Espresso Faux Suede Ribbon and the buckle from the Antiqued Corners & Slides Elements both add to this feel as well.
