Nature is an Adventure Card

A Cabin in the forest on a card
Nature is an Adventure Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Nature is an Adventure Card using the Reflected in Nature Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

The Details of My Card

The inspiration for my card is the prints that you see which have one pop of red in amongst a black/white scene. To create this, I pulled out my Blender Pen once I had stamped the image. I took the pen and dipped it into my Real Red

Ink Pad to pick up some ink. I started in the shadow areas, like under the roof line, and moved out from there. As you use the pen, the ink gets lighter and lighter until there is no more ink on it. I love this softer look that suited the stamped image! As the ink runs out, you get lots of dimension with the shadows, mid-tones, and highlights. I haven’t done this technique in a long time.

To match my rustic cottage in the woods theme, I distressed the edges of my stamped image and the Real Red mat with my Paper Snips. The Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper is gorgeous with its unexpected silver accents and perfect for my theme! I thought that adding a flag of the Cork Paper behind my focal point would add a bit of colour and interest. To match the silver accents on the DSP, I added a Silver Foil die cut tree from the Cabin Dies. For embellishments, I used Linen Thread wrapped around my sentiment and a scattering of Red Rhinestones to add some colour.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Reflected in Nature Stamp Set (156437), Cabin Dies (156404)

You’re my Gingerbread Card

My Stampin' Up! Card with Gingerbread Cookies on It
You’re my Gingerbread Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my You’re my Gingerbread Card using the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle by Stampin’ Up!

For my card, I wanted to use the Gingerbread Dies to die cut the images out of the Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper. I love that you can do this to create your cards! Great for mass producing your Christmas cards!

Paper with Gingerbread Cookies on It
Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper with Gingerbread Dies

I thought the Kraft paper would tie in nicely with the brown cookies in the DSP. Once I die cut it with the largest scallop die, I stamped the peppermint swirls all over it in Versamark. This tone-on-tone look adds a subtle bit of interested without taking away from the delicious cookies.

I also stamped in Versamark the sentiment on a piece of Real Red that I die cut using one of the Stitched Rectangles Dies. This I embossed in white using my Heat Tool. I added the gingerbread trim in Basic White under my sentiment trimming it to fit the rectangle. I added a fun Gingerbread & Peppermint Acrylic Shape and a scattering of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to tie in my colours and theme.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Frosted Gingerbread Bundle (156807), Scalloped Contours Dies (155560), Stitched Rectangles Dies (151820)

Inks: VersaMark Ink Pad (102283)

Paper: Real Red (102482), Basic White (159276), Kraft 6″ x 6″ Paper Pack (156325), Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper (156313)

My Chilly Willie Cards

My Stampin' Up! cards
My Chilly Willie Cards

SNEAK PEEKS! Time for another Christmas in July card! Today I am sharing 2 cards instead of one that are using a Sale-A-Bration product that you can earn for free starting in August! My Chilly Willie Cards features the free Penguin Playmates 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper. This DSP has the sweetest critters all over it and coordinates with the Penguin Builder Punch that will be in the new Mini Catalogue starting on August 3, 2021.

Card #1
Card #1 Using the Penguin Playmates 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper

For my cards, I created one card and I used the leftover pieces to create my second card. For the first card, I decided that I wanted the cute penguins popping out of the circular frames from the Picture This Dies with different backgrounds. So, I fussy cut them from the DSP. Then, I stamped the snowflakes that come with the Penguin Place Photopolymer Stamp Set in Balmy Blue on a piece of Balmy Blue card stock. Once done, I then die cut it and two different pieces of the Penguin Playmates DSP. One had pink snowflakes and the other had green trees on one side and the critters on the other. This allowed me to mix and match pieces for the circles.

My Second Card
Card #2 Using the Penguin Playmates 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper

The embellishments that I used are also from the upcoming Mini Catalogue. They included the Subtle Shimmer Sequins and the beautiful iridescent Wonderful Snowflakes. Don’t you just love how delicate are the Wonderful Snowflakes! I wanted some smaller snowflakes to scatter on my cards. So, I ended up using the snowflake die from the Giving Gifts Dies.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Penguin Place Bundle (156789), Picture This Dies (155559), Giving Gifts Dies (156563)

Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (132708), VersaMark Ink (102283), Balmy Blue Classic Stampin’ Pad (147105)

My Father’s Day Card

My Father's Day Card
My Father’s Day Card

Today is I am sharing My Father’s Day Card that is using the Handsomely Suited Bundle by Stampin’ Up! I decided to create a Centre-Step Fun Fold card with the shirt on the centre panel. There is a link at the end of this post to a Horizontal Centre-Step Template.

The Details of My Card

My Father-in-law isn’t a suit kind of guy, but he does wear golf shirts in blues. So, I created a short sleeve golf shirt using the Well Suited Designer Series Paper. For the sleeves, I used the pocket die and the shirt was die cut from the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I trimmed the stitched rectangle to 4 ¼” after it was die cut to fit an envelope. A number of his shirts are Lacoste with a small green allegator on the left side. Since I didn’t have any alligator dies, I used the hearts from the paws of the Pets Dies. I also figured that having a heart to represent his real heart was perfect for Father’s Day!

My Father's Day Card
My Father’s Day Card

For my sentiment, I didn’t think “Have a Happy Father’s Day Handsome” coming from both my husband and I would be appropriate for my father-in-law. So, I used the technique of covering the part of the sentiment that I didn’t want with scotch tape. Then, I inked the stamp up and removed the tape before stamping. Once the sentiment was stamped like this, I discovered that it fit perfectly in one of the dies from the Tasteful Labels Dies. The Pacific Point banner that flanks my sentiment was also from the Tasteful Labels Dies, but it wasn’t long enough to show on both sides of my sentiment. So, I cut in half giving the illusion that my banner is longer than it is.

For my other panels, I used the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper since he is a very handy man and likes to build things with wood. The Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder was perfect for that material kind of look it gives my card.

Tips for Cutting/Scoring Card Base

At 1 ¼” from the edge of the long side of card stock cut from 1” to 5 ¼” using the Paper Trimmer blade guide. Once I cut one side, I flipped the card stock over to cut the other side. Make sure that your new cut line will be parallel to the first one. Turn so that the long edge of card stock is horizontal and score side panels at 1”, 2” and 5 ¼” and 4 ¼” for the centre panel. To download a PDF file, please see the template link at the end of the post or click the image below.

My Santorini Window Card

My Welcoming Window Card
My Santorini Window Card

Today I am sharing my Santorini Window Card using the Welcoming Window Bundle by Stampin’ Up! I love that you can make different cards depending on which sentiment you use. This one is a birthday card, but I also made a Mother’s Day card for my mom too.

When I saw this bundle, I immediately thought of creating a window that shows the inside of the card. I went with bright colours that were inspired by a photo from our Greece trip to Santorini with the bright pink bougainvillea flowers against a white building.

Santorini
Pink Bougainvillea Flowers in Santorini

I stamped directly onto the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper that carried over to the new Annual Catalogue. The white stucco sheet of DSP was perfect for my card. The shutters and window frame just had to be in Pacific Point since that colour reminds me of Santorini! To create my window, I used a piece of wind sheet between the window panes. I even used the part of the DSP that I cut of the window on the inside of my card. Then you would not see the glue that I used to adhere the Pacific Point frame on the front.

For the inside, I stamped my images centred on the page so that I can be seen through the window.

Soar Confidently Birthday Card

Birthday Card
Soar Confidently Birthday Card

Today is I am sharing my Soar Confidently Birthday Card that I made for my father-in-law’s birthday that was yesterday using the Soar Confidently Stamp Set. My father-in-law loves planes, and I knew that a card with the plane from this set would be perfect for him! I just happened to decide to use all the images, as well as the plane.

The Details of My Card

Since the images look vintage, I decided to create an old world feel to my card. So, once I stamped my images on Very Vanilla card stock, I used my Blender Pen to “colour” the stamped images in certain areas where the line art was the strongest. I then fussy cut the stamped images out with my Paper Snips. To give my card more of a vintage feel I sponged ink along the edges. I usually don’t mix Very Vanilla and Basic White but thought the vintage look I was going for allowed it to work.

I decided to use the World of Good Designer Series Paper since it is perfect for a masculine card! Specifically, the one with the compasses on the Misty Moonlight background which reminded me of a blue sky. This paper is retiring and is currently on sale!

For my card, I wanted all the different flying machines to be in the air. So, I need some clouds which is where the Mountain Air Bundle came into effect. I stamped them in Misty Moonlight, but stamped off twice before stamping them on the Basic White card stock to give them a soft fluffy look.

I stamped the sentiment in a Stitched Rectangle, add a couple of banners with one in copper foil to match the copper stars from the Star Designer Elements.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Soar Confidently Stamp Set (154531), Mountain Air Bundle (153820), Stitched Rectangles Dies (151820), Tasteful Labels Dies (152886)

Inks: Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin’ Pad (153118), Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad (147114)

Hydrangea Thank You Card

My Hydrangea Thank You Card

Today is I am sharing my Hydrangea Thank You Card that I made for a swap using the beautiful Hydrangea Haven Bundle by Stampin Up! I love how the watercolour hydrangea pops out of the DSP and the Stitched Nested frame!

I swooned over the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper when I saw it! All my favourite colours are in it like Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Mossy Meadow to name just a few! So, I decide that I wanted to use some of the colours in the DSP for my hydrangea flower head and leaves.

The Process of the Watercolour Technique

Prepare to get all inky! For my card, I pulled out my Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills of Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Misty Moonlight and Seaside Spray to use on my watercolour paper. I drop a couple of drips of each colour onto my work space and added a few spritzes of the Frost White Shimmer Paint (that was premixed with rubbing alcohol) and then a few spritzes of water. I then dragged my watercolour paper through the ink picking up the colours.

The Process of the Hydrangea Watercolour Technique
The Process of the Watercolour Technique

Once the ink was dried on the flower heads, I used my Blending Brush to add a bit more Gorgeous Grape to the raised petals to give it a bit more dimension.

I did the same steps for the stem and leaves using Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.

Here is a video that I presented to fellow demonstrators showing this technique:

I love this look since you can get different variations in the flowers. Here is an example of both light and dark flower heads.

Thinking of You Card

My Thinking of You Card
My Thinking of You Card

Today is I am sharing my Thinking of You Card using the Simply Succulents Bundle by Stampin’ Up! A good friend and I love succulents. And as you know, I love to colour! Double whammy! So, when I saw this bundle, I knew that I would be getting it!

For my card, I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour using the tip-to-tip technique for the flowers and the smooth colouring technique for the pot. I have added links to my colouring techniques videos from a presentation at the end of this post if you wish to learn more. This card was easy to put together since the images were a quick colour.

I thought that the die cut of the succulents that spans a whole card front is so beautiful. So, I decided to use that for my background with a Rococo Rose card base. Rococo is one of the 2019-2021 In Colors that I am going to miss the most! It will be retiring with the new Catalogue in May. So, make sure you get all your favourite retired items before they are gone!

I created a focal point with the largest Stitched Circle Die where I added my bouquet and sentiment. A scattering of Rhinestone Basic Jewels of which I coloured a few with my Rococo Rose Dark Blend and Rococo Rose Scalloped Linen Ribbon are all the embellishments this card needed.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Simply Succulents Bundle (156264)
Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (132708)
Paper: Rococo Rose (150882), Crumb Cake (120953), Basic White (159276), Old Olive (100702)

Today is I am sharing my Fine Art Birthday Card using the Fine Art Floral Suite Collection by Stampin’ Up! I love this collection with the lovely flowers and textures on a modern take on classic impasto paintings. Rich textures, lovely florals, gold leafing, and more all work together for a fine art experience that is sure to yield beautiful and elegant results.

The Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set is so pretty with lots of lovely sentiments for all kinds of cards! And you can’t go wrong with the matching Floral Gallery Dies.

How to Use Gilded Leafing Embellishment

When I saw the Gilded Leafing Embellishment in the new mini, I was so excited! It was on the top of my list to buy. I have used similar products and just loved them. So, I knew I would love the Stampin’ Up! version.

For my card, I took the VersaMark Ink Pad and rubbed it on opposite corners of the DSP and the Mossy Meadow card stock (which was embossed first with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder). I then sprinkled Heat & Stick Powder to the ink and set it with my heat tool. It will melt like embossing powder but leaves a sticky residue behind to which you can adhere the Gold Gilding. I then burnished with my fingers the Gold Gilding removing the excess.

Imagine an artist, delicately painting individual canvases in a classic impasto style. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? That’s exactly what this paper is! A Stampin’ Up! artist hand-paint canvases with beautiful florals and textures in classic Stampin’ Up! colors. They then took those canvases, photographed them, and made them into this unique designer series paper. Your heart will grow wild when you get this paper in your hands. The pack includes florals, patterns, colour variance, and all the touches of professional paintings.

To finish my card, I added a strip of the gorgeous Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate behind the Fine Art Ribbon and the sentiment. A scattering of Gold Glitter Enamel Dots tie in the golden theme.
