Hugs for Mr. Snowman

It’s Laurie here with my Hugs for Mr. Snowman Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her ‘Snowman Hug’ Christmas Digital Stamp. Isn’t this just the sweetest image with the little one giving Mr. Snowman a big hug!

I pulled out the Winter Fun paper a while back and had it sitting on my table in anticipation of this card. I love the soft blues and browns of it and coloured with my Copic markers the stamp to match. Once the image was coloured, I used my new Stampin’ Up! Blending Brush to give the sky a pretty blue to make the snowman pop from the background. Of course, you have to have snowflake dies cuts when a snowman is involved! I thought the Tan/ White Twine and the snowflake charm were perfect accents to my card! I added some sparkle with the Clear Gelly Roll Pen on the snowsuit’s snowflakes and a scattering of rhinestones.

Our Friendship is Tweet

It’s Laurie here with Our Friendship is Tweet Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her cute ‘Tweet Friendship’ Christmas Digital Stamp. I have been a big fan of Rachelle Anne Miller’s for a long time. In fact, I used my rubber stamp that was in my stash to create my card, but you can get the digital version in her store.

I love this sweet little girl with her tweet friends! I though she made a perfect card for a winter birthday and I have a lot of them coming up in January and February. So I have plans for her!

For my card, I coloured her with my favourite BG and YG colour combinations of Copic markers. I then created a frame by laying down the die that I used to cut her out and sponged Pool Party Ink with my new Blending Brush from Stampin’ Up! When I lifted the die up, I was left with a white frame to set off my image. I love the Frostyville Wreath in the Sparkle Glimmer Paper, but it was too small for my image. So, I cut it apart and draped it along the frame. To balance the “wreath” of snowflakes, I placed another larger snowflake opposite them. I thought that the Metallic Mesh Ribbon looked like cracked ice creating a subtle texture to the card. A scattering of Adhesive-backed Snowflakes added to the Winter Wonderland theme of my card.

Jingle All the Way

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Jingle All the Way Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I used the updated Santa Ellie with Gift which is only $1 right now! Make sure you get yours at such a great deal!!

I coloured Ellie with my Copic Markers in Santa red and white colours. Isn’t she just the cutest in her Santa outfit! I knew that I wanted to create a shaker card and use some Christmas foil accents. There have been some awesome shaker cards by the PND Design Team, and I was inspired by them to give it a try! Since the Jingle All the Way die cut had bells, I used mini bells from the dollar store for the shaker part. I had to double up my adhesive strips to give the bells enough room to jingle when you shook the card. To tie in those bells, I die cut some from the Sounds of the Seasons Dies in the red and green foil and then tied 3 bells with linen thread.

Let’s Rejoice Christmas Card

My Let's Rejoice GDT Card — My Let’s Rejoice Christmas Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here again! I am sharing my Let’s Rejoice Christmas Card as my Guest Design Team Inspiration for Conie Fong Art & Design using the beautiful Angel Prayers. I created a slimline card for my Holy scene.

The Details of My Card

This digital stamp is perfect for so many occasions like birthday, sympathy, get well and thinking of you. However, for my card, I wanted her to be the Christmas Angel from the Nativity. So, I coloured her with my Copic Markers in Christmas colours.

I use the Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen on her wings and smooshed the lines with my finger before they dried. This gives the lines a softer look, but still allows a flowing movement of her wings. I also used the same pen on all the gold accents to make them shimmer. Finally, I added Clear Wink of Stella on her wrap. You can never have too much sparkle where an angel is concerned!

Instead of a night scene, I decided to create a sunrise with the dawning of the birth of Jesus Christ. For my sunrise, I used my Distress Oxide Inks and my Mini Blending Tool starting with Fossilized Amber at the base of the watercolor paper, followed by Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, Broken China and Faded Jeans.

Once the colours were blended, I used my Splatter Tool dipped in Frost White Shimmer Paint and then in water to create the sky.

For my Nativity scene, the die I used comes as border. So, a few snips here and there and add my Sahara Sand dune to create my layered scene with lots of dimensionals between the layers.

The Gold Foil stars were from the Silent Night Dies from Creative Expressions. The North Star was snipped from the largest die in the set.

To finish the card, I used a Gold Foil mat followed by a Stitched Cherry Cobber mat.

My Christmas Nativity Scene

It’s Laurie here with My Christmas Nativity Scene as my Design Team Inspiration for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios. This time I wanted to create something a little different than a card! So, I made a multi layered shadowbox that lights up using the beautiful Nativity Christmas Digital Stamp.

The Details of My Scene

I had so much fun colouring the Holy Family with my Copic Markers! Once I did that, I created my scene using a number of dies from my stash. I ended up with 4 different layers. I love my focal point of the Family and the manger behind them! The In Good Taste Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up has photographic images of wood. Perfect for my manger.

TIP: Since the inside of the frame is smaller than the outside, I made my largest layer 5 5/8″ x 5 5/8″. All layers were 5 5/8″ wide with varying heights depending on their position.

The next step was to attach the lights. The wire from the lights was very malleable allowing me to position them exactly where I wanted. I even added a couple of lights behind Jesus’s head to give him a glow. I ended up using a ton of scotch tape to secure the lights.

Once the lights were in place, the next step was to add Foam Adhesive Strips between the layers.

Here is a photo of all the layers adhered together. Now that is a lot of layers!

Not everyone is into home decor, but this project could easily be made into a card. If I remove the frame and lights, you get a good idea of how a card would look.

My Christmas Poinsettia Card

My Poinsettia Card — My Christmas Poinsettia Card

I am sharing My Christmas Poinsettia Card using the Poinsettia Petals Bundle by Stampin’ Up! Who wouldn’t love to receive a card like this with all the touchable accents!

I love the details you get from the Poinsettia Dies where you can see the veins of the petals and they are especially striking on the Red Velvet Paper! You can achieve this by layering the cutting dies and the embossing dies together. Resulting in only one pass through your die cutting machine.

For my card, I used a number of products from the Poinsettia Place Suite including the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper and the beautiful Beaded Pearls which are currently on sale! You can just see the Poinsettia Specialty Paper running horizontally underneath the poinsettia. I used a bone folder to give the poinsettia flower extra dimension by curling the leaves a little. The gold cord from the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack and the Beaded Pearl add a touch of shimmer to the card. I just love the softness of this card with all its textures from the different papers used!

My Design Team Card for paper Nest Dolls — My Toys for Tiny Tots Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Toys for Tiny Tots Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I used the super cute Ellie in a Box from the New December Release.

It was so much fun colouring Ellie and her pop up box with my Copic markers! I decided to create Elie popping out of a jumble of toys waiting to be distributed by Santa to all the good little boys and girls for Christmas. I thought that the toys dies were perfect for my card even though the set was intended for a baby. They were one of the very first die sets that I bought over eight years ago! So, I can’t find the company that made them, but there are a lot more current dies that would work just as well. After cutting them out, I embossed and sponged ink on them while they were still in the dies to give added dimension on the raised areas.

Don’t you think that the Floral Oval die that Ellie is layered on looks like peppermint swirls on each side. The Designer Series Paper was from my stash as well, but I thought that the toys and ornaments went well with my theme and make Ellie pop from the background. Don’t you just love the fiber that is behind the focal point! It looks like something that you would use on a Christmas tree with it gold accents which tie in with the gold star and trim on Ellie’s clothes. A couple of Red and Crushed Curry rhinestones add a bit more sparkle.

Sally’s Christmas Friends Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here again! I am sharing my second November Guest Design Team Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the very festive Sally’s Christmas Friends.

I had so much fun colouring with my Copic Markers this sweet tree decorating scene of Sally and her two little helpers! We look forward to decorating our Christmas tree each year. Every time we travel, we buy an ornament for our tree. When we decorate the tree it brings back so many wonderful memories!

I added lots of sparkle with stickles to the white trim of Sally’s clothes, the birds’ hats and the snow. I also used Shimmery Crystal Effects on all the ornaments to give them a glossy shine! For the Clear Wink of Stella, I added it to all the ribbons including the tree topper! You can never have too much sparkle for a Christmas card!

I love the pops of blue from this otherwise traditional coloured card! It ties in nicely with the snowflakes from Lost & Found Christmas Paper Pad and the blue snowflake embellishment.

Don’t you love the felt mittens! I just had to pull them out of my stash for this card! For my ornaments on my tree die, I used red rhinestones and coloured clear ones with my Copics in the blue to match Sally’s tree. A gold glimmer paper star tops it with even more sparkle!

My Gingerbread Fun Fold Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing My Gingerbread Fun Fold Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I used a number of digital stamps to create my fun gingerbread card including Gingerbread House, Gingerbread Boy, Gingerbread Girl, Ginger bread Winter Boy, Tiny Emma with Cookie and Tiny Ellie with Candy Cane.

I had so much fun creating this wonderland of gingerbread. My idea was that I wanted to create a centre-step card and planned to use my colouring from the recent 30 Day Coloring Challenge to build my card. I’m so happy with how it turned out!

The Steps of My Gingerbread Fun Fold Card

I created a ton of layers with the snow banks that all sparkle with Stardust Stickles and then layered my characters between them in the different folds. Of course, that is not all that sparkles! The windows of the house, Ellies’s candy cane and Emma’s peppermint candy bow all have glossy accents. I even added Clear Wink of Stella to the peppermint swirl on the house, the gum drops in front of the house, the Gingerbread Girl’s bow and hearts and the heart on Ellie’s dress! Can’t have a Christmas card without Christmas trees all dressed up for Christmas with stars and red Christmas lights! The Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper by Stampin Up! was perfect to create my snowy scene.

My Freezin’ Friends Card

I am sharing My Freezin’ Friends Card using the Freezin’ Fun Bundle by Stampin Up! Aren’t these just the cutest critters frolicking in their winter wonderland!

I wanted to create a winter scene that used all the characters. So, I made a slimline card (3 ½” x 8 ½”) to fit them all on it. Next, I pulled out my Stampin’ Blends and coloured all the cute critters and trees in my Smooth Colouring Technique (see post here on this technique). I used the stitched hill die to create my snow hills. For the front snow hill, I cut the hill once and then lined up the die with the first cut to create a longer hill than the die usually makes. Since I place the seal on an ice floe, I thought he should be floating on a lake. So, I used the hill die to create the edge of the lake and place Pool Party card stock behind it to represent the water. The Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper was perfect for the sky!

Stampin’ Blends Recipe

I use Crumb Cake, Real Red, Petal Pink and Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blends for the rabbit. For the seal, I used Smoky Slate, Petal Pink, Real Red and Mossy Meadow Stampin Blends. I use Pool Party Stampin’ Blends for the ice floe and Mossy Meadow for the trees.

For the raccoon, I used Soft Suede, Basic Black, Real Red, Crumb Cake and Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blends.

My Molly’s Fairy Christmas Gift

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with My Molly’s Fairy Christmas Gift card! I am so excited to be joining Conie Fong Art & Design as a Guest Design Team Member for the next two months! I love her digital stamps! For my first GDT card, I am using the beautiful Molly’s Fairy Gift.

I had so much fun colouring Molly and her friend with my Copic markers! I wanted to create a shabby chic card, but with lots of sparkle and shimmer! This. was achieved by sponging the edges of my image with Vintage Photo ink and then heat setting some Shabby White Embossing Powder which has gold flecks in it. I further accented the flecks with gold foil die cut poinsettias and gold glitter enamel dots. To add more sparkle, I used red rhinestones and lots of Stardust Stickles! Don’t you just love the poinsettia punch flowers and leaves. They really add a nice dimension to the card! As my card says, Tis’ the Season!

My Christmas Sled

It’s Laurie here with My Christmas Sled Design Team Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her The Little Sled Christmas Digital Stamp. Isn’t he just darling! When you were little, did your family go out tree hunting?

For my card, I wanted to create a natural feel since this little guy is picking out his Christmas tree in the snow. So I used things like the natural wooden star and tree, the linen thread, Natural White and Kraft Card Stock to add to my feel. Of course, you have to wear red and green when picking out your tree! I thought the papers, especially the O Christmas Tree flag at the top, were perfect for my card!

Boughs of Christmas Card

I am sharing my Boughs of Christmas Card using the Cherish the Season Bundle and the Beautiful Boughs Dies. Who wouldn’t love to receive a card with Christmas boughs and these gorgeous Red Foil bells! I love the details of the bells, especially the large one with the holly die cuts!

I pulled my colour scheme from the ‘Tis the Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to design my card. The top DSP piece adds a header that hides all the branch ends and creates balance with the Real Red sentiment. I stamped the branches from the Cherish the Season Bundle in Garden Green and Shaded Spruce on the Whisper White card stock in the shape of my boughs. Then, I layered the die cut boughs in Garden Green and Shaded Spruce from the Beautiful Boughs Dies on top of so that my stamping just peeks out from underneath. The Red Foil bells are strategically placed by tucking them into the boughs.

The beautiful Real Red Sheer Ribbon is tied in a bow. Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Shaded Spruce rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels add a bit of sparkle amongst the boughs.

My Sweetest Season Christmas Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing My Sweetest Season Christmas Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I used the cute Elf Avery with Candy Cane! Isn’t she just the sweetest digital stamp! Avery looks ever so pleased with her candy cane!

When I coloured Avery with my Copic Markers, I knew that I wanted to use the Sweetest Border Dies from Stampin’ Up! with the die cut candy canes. Perfect for my card and what better use than to have the candy cane paper showing through the die cuts. It took me a couple tries to get the red die cut and the green die cut to match up, but I thought it helped to create a sweet background for Avery. I couldn’t resist using stickles on her hat trim and glossy accents on the berries to give her some sparkle. I loved the sentiment, but it was too long. So, I turned it on its side and added some embellishments from my stash.

Holly Jolly Gnome Christmas

Halloween is over! Time for some Christmas cards! Today I am sharing with you my Holly Jolly Gnome Christmas cards using the Gnome For The Holidays Cling Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! I love the gnomes from this set and the cute sentiments such as “There’s no place like GNOME for the Christmas season”! So, I made 2 variations of my card using two different gnomes.

For both cards, I combined the stamp set and the dies from the North Pole Wonder Dies to create a fun tag.

I used the hat of the girl gnome to stamp the edges of the Pear Pizzazz Stitched Rectangle. Such a neat technique using that stamp in a different way. Both my gnomes were coloured with Stampin’ Blends matching the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper and Ribbon using the Smooth Colouring Technique (more info on this technique).

Since the gnomes do not come with dies, I fussy cut them out to make them pop up from the card. For embellishments, I tied the Real Red Braided Linen Trim through the tag’s hole, added a scattering of Wonderful Gems and added Shimmery Crystal Effects to the Christmas Bauble.

One difference between the two cards, besides the different pieces of the DSP, is that I used the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder on the guy gnome version to add a bit more visual effect.
