The Details of My Card

When I was a teenager, roller skating was all the rage and you needed those multicoloured striped socks, Nike red shorts and tunes on your Walkman! So, when I saw this stamp, it bought back so many memories! Lol!

For my card, I coloured Ellie with my Copic markers to match my roller disco paper! I love this paper! I have used it for so many of the Decade Dolls whether it be 60’s, 70’s or 80’s! The skates and cassette tapes (do you remember cassette tapes? Lol) on the paper were perfect for my theme.

The sentiment was from a retired Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set, but you could easily type this out on your computer and printing it. It was die cut using the Stitched Rectangles.

To add some sparkle to the card, I used Stickles on a stitched Real Red heart and Ellie’s pompoms on her skates. I also added a few gold glimmer stars and red rhinestones.

Glossy Accents was added to her Walkman case.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I coloured Avery with my Copic markers to match my Seventies paper! Do you remember when chocolate brown and orange were in? Lol! I just had to give Avery red hair to go with my card!

I love the juxtaposition of the paper with circles and the square retro panel die floating on top. The paper pack included a sheet of sentiments, and I thought the “Let your Love grow tall” matched my card in colours and theme.

The finishing touch was a scattering of rhinestones that I coloured with my Copic markers to match Avery.

My Viking Father’s Day Card

A Father's Day card with a viking father and son
My Viking’s Father’s Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Viking Father’s Day Card for my Design Team Inspiration for Paper Nest Dolls using the Viking Bundle. This bundle has three characters and two animals – Viking Andrew (with and without the mustache ties), Viking Owen, Viking Dragon, and Viking Boar. I love this bundle and made another card using just Viking Andrew without the mustache ties. I will include a link to it at the end of this post.

The Details of My Card

I thought using Viking Andrew and Viking Owen together would make a perfect Father’s Day card! I had so much fun colouring with my Copic markers this brawny guy and his son in appropriate Viking colours! Their colouring even matches another card called My Let’s Go A-Viking Card that I made for Paper Nest Dolls for their New Year’s Day Event. Wouldn’t all three make a great family card!

For my card, I kept it simple simple to make the stamps stand out. I used the High Seas Embossing Folder to emboss the waves on Night of Navy card stock. This was placed on a Mossy Meadow card base. Next, I used a frame with Viking imagery that came with the digital papers for the perfect backdrop for my father and son! My simple sentiment was layered on a scrap of the Cozy Winter paper. This paper pack is not just for winter but has all-purpose patterns as well. The finishing touch was the Viking chipboard ship and some black matte dots.

My Grease Lightning Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Grease Lightning Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Decade Collection Greaser Owen and Decade Collection Poodle Skirt Emma. The Details of My Card

When I saw these two stamps, I knew that I had to create a card with them both on it! I had a lot of fun colouring them with my Copic markers! I even added Glossy Accents to the milkshake glass and Emma’s glasses.

For my card, I decided to create a 50s diner vibe using the most perfect paper with milk shakes, records, and black/white tiles that I found on Amazon.

I heat embossed with black embossing powder the record from the For the Record Stamp Set twice. Once on gray card stock and once on red card stock. Then, using several circle dies, I die cut the pieces out. I couldn’t resist using the red cardstock for the heart part in the centre of the record! And the grooves really show up well with the black embossing on the gray card stock. Don’t you love the sentiments, especially the puny one, that come with the stamp set!

Close Up of Card
Close Up of Card

Isn’t the car die so fun! I thought it would suit my 50’s vibe as an homage to Grease Lightning from the movie Grease. The door even opens. So, I had Owen’s leg halfway in almost like he was getting out of the card.

A red rhinestone and several black dot embellishments tie into my colour scheme.

My Welcome Spring! Card

Card with girl holding a daffodil
My Welcome Spring! Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I was so excited to present My Welcome Spring! Card at the Paper Nest Dolls Spring Coloring Retreat (Online) recently using Lulu with Daffodil!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I thought a fun fold card would be something different than a regular card. So, I created a side easel card base! I love how it folds up to display part of the card front!

We had a lot of fun colouring Lulu with our Copic markers at the Retreat. The attendees learned how to add texture to the daffodil to make it pop!

The beautiful papers from the Paper Boutique were perfect for the theme since they had daffodil and tulips on them!

I couldn’t resist using the Daffodil Dies from Stampin’ Up! in the background  to set off Lulu!

Yabba Dabba Doo Time Card

Flintstone's Family Card
Yabba Dabba Doo Time Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Yabba Dabba Doo Time Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the new digital Stone Age Family Set. This bundle comes with eight stamps in either digital or rubber stamps.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I wanted to fit the whole family onto one card. So, I decided to create a Tri-Fold card where a continual scene unfolds on the front of the card, but when folded down, it becomes an A2 card.

Tri-Fold Card
Tri-Fold Card

I created a sidewalk for my characters to stand on by using a stencil, ink, and a blending brush. Once that was done, I used one of the Large Slimline Dies to create my straight lines and then cut the pieces down accordingly. Some hills and grass in different greens gave interest behind the characters. A couple of palm trees added to my scene.

A Groovy Road Trip Card

A Groovy Road Trip Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing A Groovy Road Trip Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Decade Collection Flower Power Ellie. There are ten dolls in the Decade Collection that come in both rubber and digital stamps. You can find all the digital versions here.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I coloured Ellie with my Copic markers to match my Seventies paper and her retro bus! This paper was perfect for my card with the musical revolution icons since Ellie has her dancing boots on and is off to Woodstock!

Of course, if Ellie is having a road trip, she needs a retro bus. This Retro Bus Kit comes with dies to build a mini booklet in the shape of a retro bus, but I decided to use it for my card. So, I just trimmed the three ring holes off the back piece. I had a ton of fun decorating my bus with the matching paper, flowers, peace symbol, windshield wipers, Road Trip die and so on. I even used a piece of a window sheet for the windows. For the metal parts, I brushed on some iron wax to give them a metal look.

The finishing touches were some wooden musical notes to match my theme and a couple of rhinestone coloured to match my card.

My Give Peace a Chance Card

Card with a Hippie Girl
My Give Peace a Chance Card Closed

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Give Peace a Chance Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the new release Decade Collection Hippie Ellie. With everything going on in the world right now, I thought this was a very appropriate card for the times!

The Details of My Card

I had a lot of fun colouring Hippie Ellie with my Copic markers! Don’t you just love her jeans with the patches and her suede fringe vest! She is such a groovy hipster!

For my card, I found this perfect paper that had a Seventies theme! I loved it so much that I wanted to use a whole sheet for my card front! So, I used a fun fold called a Z-Fold Card for the card base, but I reversed it into a backwards Z. I wanted the love bug to show on the front with Ellie when the card is closed. This type of card folds up to a regular A2 card but allows for lots of room to decorate! It also is neat how you open it, and the paper continually keeps going!

Card Laid Flat
Full Card Laid Flat

Since the paper was so detailed, I only used a few dies to dress it up such as the Love, Peace, daisies, and peace sign. They were from the Retro Bus by Elizabeth Craft Designs. I bought this set planning to use them for the Decade Dolls and they were perfect for Hippie Ellie! A couple of sequins and glimmery dots for the flower centres was all the embellishments this card needed.

My Easter Basket

An Easter Basket
My Easter Basket

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Easter Basket using Bunny Emma by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration. Since Easter is this weekend, I thought an Easter basket would be fun with this cutie!

The Details of My Basket

For my basket, I picked out this pretty paper in soft Easter colours of pinks and purples. From that I pulled my Copic colour palette to colour Bunny Emma. The basket is really a purse die, but by using one handle instead of two, it transforms into a basket! I stamped the sentiment onto the cute, stitched pocket and added a die cut button from the paper.

Of course, I just had to decorate the back of the basket with another pocket and button. The pink is from the other side of the pretty floral paper. So, it all goes together beautifully. The finishing touch are a few matching ribbons to balance out Bunny Emma.

From the Herd Birthday Card

Card with farmers horse, cow and pig on it
From the Herd Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my From the Herd Birthday Card using Down on the Farm by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Card. This bundle comes with 15 digital stamps including 5 dolls, horse, cow, pig, ewe, chicken coop, tractor, hay, corn, sunflowers and so many more.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create a slimline card to fit my characters. So, I used my new Picket Fences Diecutting System with the circle dies since one was a fence and the other was grass. Perfect for my farm card! I die cut the fence out of some paper that looked like wood. I added sky paper behind the cow and horse but added a farmer’s field paper behind the girl and pig. To add to my farm theme, I use some wooden boards paper to create my vignettes of the scenes. I wanted the girl and pig to stand out. So, I placed them in front of everything on the die cut grass that has the stamped sentiment. Don’t you just love the sentiment, “Happy Birthday from the Herd. Lol!

My Winter Wonderland Mixed Media Piece

Mixed Media Piece using Eskimo Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls
My Winter Wonderland Mixed Media Piece

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Winter Wonderland Mixed Media Piece using Eskimo Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Project. We are still in the depths of winter here is Canada. So, I thought I would make something pretty to brighten the last of the winter days.

The Details of My Project

I decided to create a Mixed Media piece. Something that I haven’t done before but have always wanted to create. So, I pulled out my 8” x 10” Gel Printing Plate, my Distress Paints and brayer and went to town. Once I had paint laid down and before it dried, I stamped several different stamps to add interest to my background piece. I placed my mixed media paper over the gel plate and pulled several prints from it.

Once everything was dried, I added some shimmery embossing paste using a stencil. I then splattered some paint all over with my splatter brush.

At this point, I painted the sides of the wood frame with Seedless Preserves to bring out that colour from the print.

I trimmed down my print, framed it with a matching blue card stock and glued it to my dried frame. Then, I added my “snow” and snowflake dies. Next came, the white embossed sentiment which used the same blue card stock as the frame. I fussy cut my Copic coloured images and used a die cut iceberg to help ground them. A scattering of rhinestones added more shimmer to the piece.

This is The Valentine Way!

My Valentine Card with Baby Yoda and hearts on it.
This is The Valentine Way!

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my This is The Valentine Way! using Rebel Baby by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Card. I just wanted to show how versatile the Paper Nest Dolls stamps are by making a Valentine card with this cutie!

The Details of My Card

When I was out shopping the other day, I saw some Baby Yoda Valentine cards for children to hand out. I had a light bulb moment that I could create my own Valentine with Baby Rebel!

For my card, I decided that I wanted it to be a traditional Valentine card with lots of hearts and pinks/reds/whites. I love the bright colours of the Doodlebug paper! So, perfect for a Valentine card! I thought it would be fun to place a red glimmer Valentine heart in his hand to give to you! Since he is a galaxy baby, I pulled in some stars but went with glimmery red and pink to match my colour scheme. A scattering of red rhinestones adds a bit more sparkle to this fun Valentine!

Will You Be My Valentine Viking?

Valentine card with a Viking on it
Will You Be My Valentine Viking?

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Will You Be My Valentine Viking? for my Design Team Inspiration for Paper Nest Dolls. Can you see a theme this week in my Valentine cards for my Hubby? Lol! He loves history especially Vikings! So, I used Viking Andrew with mustache ties from the Viking Bundle. This bundle has three characters and two animals – Viking Andrew (with and without the mustache ties), Viking Owen, Viking Dragon, and Viking Boar. I have created several Viking cards over the years and will include links to them at the end of this post as well.

The Details of my Card

I had so much fun colouring with my Copic markers this brawny guy in appropriate Viking colours! His colouring even matches another card called My Let’s Go A-Viking Card that I made for Paper Nest Dolls for their New Year’s Day Event. Wouldn’t these two make a perfect pair!

A card with a Viking on it.
My Let’s Go a Viking Card

For my card, I found some neat digital paper with Viking watercolour images that suited my theme. The Viking ships in the bottom panel were from an invitation in the digital package, and I just cropped it to include only the ships. I then had a choice of which ship to highlight and went with the red/white sail one to match my reds.

Since this is for my Hubby, I kept the embellishments minimal with several die-cut hearts for my Valentine theme and a scattering of red rhinestones. I love how the Viking chipboard accents highlight the fun sentiment that I punch out with heart punches.

My “Party On!” Card

A Birthday Shaker Card
My Party On Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My “Party On!” Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card using Party Princess Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls.

This past weekend Paper Nest Dolls turned 9 and reached over 6,000 members on their Facebook Group! Congratulations Paper Nest Dolls! Party Princess Ellie was a digital stamp that was given away for free to all attendees, but you can still get her until this Friday, Jan 21, 2022! Here is the link to the post on the PND Inspiration Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=4758734684247076&set=gm.3166875813548826.

Details of My Card

I am planning to give this card to my niece whose birthday is coming up. So, I coloured Ellie with my Copic markers to match her colouring and the Doodlebug paper. Don’t you just love the kitties with the balloons on the side panels!

For my card, I decided that I wanted to create a fun fold called a free-standing triple panel shaker card! Say that three time fast! Lol! I also wanted to use some balloon dies that I thought would be perfect for a birthday card and go along with Ellie’s heart balloon. The Balloon dies are to make a pop-up window, but I thought a shaker card would be a fun interactive element instead!

My Groovy Slimline Birthday Card

A Birthday card with 2 girls, 2 boys a dog and a van on it
My Groovy Slimline Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Groovy Slimline Birthday Card using Doll Detectives by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Card. This bundle comes with 6 digital stamps including 2 boys, 2 girls, a dog, and a van.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided that I would create a CAS (clean and simple) slimline card to fit all my cute characters. So, I layered my PNG stamps in Word to create my scene and then coloured them with my Copic markers.

I thought it would be fun to add some flowers to the sky to add interest. So, I took my digital van and blew up only the flowers, coloured them and fussy cut them out. You have to love being able to do that with digital stamps! Once they were cut out, I outlined them in a black multiliner to cover up any areas where my fussy cutting wasn’t perfect. It also allowed them to pop from the page.

For my sentiment, I decided to cut it up to fit on the side of the van like a banner of sorts with another flower and a sequin. The only die I used was the stitched one to cut out my scene. My finishing touch was a couple of other sequins.
