Just a Little Note Card

Just a Little Note - a masculine card with a pear on it
Just a Little Note Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Just a Little Note Card using the Penciled Pear Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! Since masculine cards are so hard to make, I decided to create a masculine card with this stamp for a swap. In fact, I made 2 different cards with similar layouts.

Two cards with pears on them
My Two Variations

The Details of My Just a Little Note Card

For my card, I knew that I wanted to watercolour the pear with my Water Painters and ink that I squished onto my glass mat. Such a fun technique that allowed me to pick up as much ink as I needed!

Ink Pools
Ink Pools

So, I heat embossed in black my stamped pear on watercolor paper. Tip: the heat embossing created a raised edge that kept the ink in the lines. Once that was done, I water coloured the pear in different colours since they can come in various shades of colours until they ripen. To add interest, I picked up the different inks on my brush and splattered it into onto the watercolor paper.

I matted the finished water coloured piece onto Old Olive and Basic White card stock to create my focal point.

Close Up of Pear

The sentiment was stamped in Black, die cut out and linen thread was added beneath it. The pears stamp was stamped multiple times in Crushed Curry onto Crush Curry card stock to add even more interest. This was matted with Basic White.

Next, I embossed the Early Espresso card stock with Timber 3D Embossing Folder to add to the masculine feel of my card.

The finishing touch was Adhesive-Backed Textured Dots in the opposite corner from my sentiment. Don’t you think these dots look like golf balls (hmmm ideas! lol!)? Very masculine!

Painted Petals Centre-Step Cards

Painted Petals Centre-Step Cards - three cards with a floral theme
Painted Petals Centre-Step Cards

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Painted Petals Centre-Step Cards using the July Painted Petals Paper Pumpkin Kit by Stampin’ Up! When I saw this kit, I was in love with it, especially how the die cuts all layer on top of the card fronts! So many ideas came flooding into my head! Lol! In fact, I created five alternative cards using the Kit. But, first, here are the three cards that the kit makes. They are so pretty!

Three Cards from the Kit

The Details of My Painted Petal Centre-Step Cards

For my three alternative cards, I decided to use my favourite fun fold, a centre-step! I kept the extra products down as much as possible by only adding card stock and the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder.

For the rose flower card, I decided to use the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder for the various strips to add some interested. I also decided to use the Old Olive card backing from one of the cards instead of the matching card front for variation.

Pink Flowers Centre-Step Card
Rose Centre-Step Card

For the daisy flower card, I had some of the Old Olive card backing from the previous card. So, I used it for the two side strips. The bottom strip was left over from the front of the card when I trimmed it down. I love that you can see the splotches on it! I decided to use the matching card front for the centre panel and layered the die cut on top of this panel.

For the poppy flower card, I used all the bits from the card base. Since the poppy die cut was longer than the others, I decided not to trim down the centre panel as much, leaving the sides of the bottom panel free for the sentiment on one side and the embellishments on the other.

My Mediterranean Hello Card

My Mediterranean Hello Card - a card with oranges and tiles paper that says Hello
My Mediterranean Hello Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Mediterranean Hello Card using the Citrus Blooms Bundle which includes the Citrus Blooms Stamp Set and the matching Citrus Blooms Dies by Stampin’ Up! I was keen to use this Bundle. So, I created this card was for a swap that I participated in on the weekend.

The Details of My Mediterranean Hello Card

For my card, I loved the tile look of the Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper and thought it would be a striking background for the die cut oranges from the DSP!

So, I decided to use the largest die from the Citrus Blooms Dies to create a base for my focal point. For this Basic White piece, I used the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture and break up the white. This embossing folder went so well with my “tile” idea!

To add even more interested, I stamped the tilework image in Boho Blue in opposite corners on the Boho Blue card base.

The finishing touches were a linen thread bow on the oranges and a scattering of Opal Rounds.

My Let’s Catch Up Card

My Let’s Catch Up Card - a card with two ladies enjoying coffees
My Let’s Catch Up Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Let’s Catch Up Card using the Latte Love Bundle and the Coffee with Friends Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! I thought it would be fun to combine them onto one card! They were just meant to be together! Lol!

The Details of My Let’s Catch Up Card

For my card, I decided to create a “polaroid” of the girls like a reminder for them to get together and catch up. As an alternative to colouring them, I embossed them with white embossing powder on Calypso Coral. Then, I die cut them out using the largest stitched square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies. I used Early Espresso for my first card but found it too dark (see top right card in photo below). So, I switched it up with the Calypso Coral. I tweaked another card (bottom) until I landed on my finished design (top left).

Different Variations of my Card
Different Variations of my Card

Since I made a “polaroid”, I had the perfect space to add the Lost Lagoon sentiment. For the Pecan Pie coffee drips, I stamped off before stamping them onto the Basic White so that they didn’t interfere with the other elements.

I loved that one of the Latte Love Dies cut out the coffee cups in the DSP! I made this card for a swap, and I had different coffee cups on my cards!

My Swap Cards
My Swap Cards

Next, I added a plaid flag with the Stylish Shapes Dies that had Calypso Coral in it to tie in my colour scheme and to balance the coffee cup.

I decided to place my focal point at an angle to fit all my elements onto the card. I layered this onto a piece of Pecan Pie that I embossed with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. You could also use the new So Swirly Embossing Folder, but I didn’t have that yet. Lol! Another piece of the DSP was placed so that it just peeked out from behind the focal point and tied in the Lost Lagoon colour.

Finally, I finished the card with a few Adhesive-Backed Swirl Dots to add a fun element to my card.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Latte Love Bundle (163461), Coffee with Friends Stamp Set (161389), Stylish Shapes Dies (159183)

Inks: Lost Lagoon (161678), Pecan Pie (161665), VersaMark Ink (102283)

My Happy Mail Card

My Happy Mail Card - a card with a letter sticking out of a mailbox.
My Happy Mail Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Happy Mail Card using the Sending Love Bundle and the Perennial Postage Dies by Stampin’ Up! I am so glad to see that both are carrying over to the new Annual Catty! However, the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper is retiring! So, if you want to get it, today is the last day!

The Details of My Happy Mail Card

For my card, I thought it would be fun to use the Perennial Postage Dies with the mailbox from the Sending Love Bundle! Who doesn’t love to get happy mail! So, I created a collage of DSP postage backgrounds for my mail elements. For the narrow postage die, I decided to stamp the franking stamp in Pool Party and then add the die cut Sent with Love Real Red sentiment with die cut hearts that match the DSP.

Next, I created an interactive mailbox with a repositionable Real Red flag using a round brad. I stamped the MAIL onto the mailbox in Real Red and added a Real Red post. I placed my mailbox at an angle so that the letter looks like it is falling out of the mailbox. Lol!

Don’t you just love the little letter that I die cut in more DSP. I couldn’t resist sealing it with an adhesive-backed heart!

The finishing touch was a few adhesive-backed flowers to add a fun element to my card.

You Light the Way Card

Light the Way Card - a card with a lantern and fireflies on it
Light the Way Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Light the Way Card using the Lighting the Way Stamp Set and the Lighting the Way Dies by Stampin’ Up! These are both set to retire end of this month. So, get yours while you can!

The Details of My Light the Way Card

This card was created for a swap, and I thought a split panel card with the lantern connecting the two pieces would be fun! I used a Window Sheet for the transparent window to give added stability.

For my card, I went with the Stargazing Designer Series Paper for the top half for the sky and the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper for the bottom half for the ground. I die cut the fireflies in White Glimmer Specialty Paper and brushes some Crushed Curry to their tails to make them glow. Next, I embossed a trail of lights in the wake of the firefly on the Stargazing Designer Series Paper.

The lantern was die cut twice. Once in the Holographic Paper for the front and again in Basic Black for the back to give the lantern a finished look from inside. I added some vellum to the inside of the lantern on which I stamped the fire glow in Crushed Curry. A bow of Linen Thread added to the top of the lantern finished it off.

Tip: for the sentiment, adhere the Basic White piece inside and then using the Night of Navy card base pieces for placement, stamp the sentiment before decorating them.

Finally, to add a bit more magical shimmer, I used the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels scattered around my lantern. These are also retiring. So, make sure you get them before they are gone.

My Serenity Blooms Card

My Serenity Blooms Card - A card with a Lady holding flowers
My Serenity Blooms Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Serenity Blooms Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Serenity. The Design Team are celebrating Girls/Ladies this weekend with all things feminine! So, I picked this beautiful image to celebrate!

The Details of My Card

When you buy this digital stamp, you will receive two stamps with the girl’s hair flowing left or right. I couldn’t resist colouring them both with the same colour scheme, but with a variation on their flowers. So, I made one card for today and the other card will follow later.

Two different coloured versions of the lady
Two Versions of Serenity

For My Serenity Blooms Card, I decided to use the Secret Garden paper and decorative tags by P13 for my colour choices. I just love the gorgeous colours of them! I picked the paper with a wreath off to the side for my background and matted it with a matching purple paper from the P13 paper pad.

Next, I decided to add a die cut frame behind her to create some visual interest, but I thought it would be fun to have her off-centred from it. As a result, the wreath was flowing through my frame and they created a nice backdrop for my colouring.

The Decorative Tags are a perfect match to the paper, and I decided to use two of them to tie in my colour scheme. I added a bow to the top to cover the hole and finish the tags off.

For the next step, the Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen was used for her necklace and Wink of Stella for the butterfly’s wings to add some shimmer.

Finally, for embellishments, I added a scattering of brass butterflies and rhinestones coloured with my Copic markers to match my colour scheme.

Happy Mother’s Day Card

A Mother's Day Card with a girl holding a peony
Happy Mother’s Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Happy Mother’s Day Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Lulu with Peony. I decided to make a Mother’s Day card since tomorrow is Mother’s Day, but Lulu would be great for so many other cards like birthday, thinking of you, and more!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to colour the peony a hot pink colour using my RV Copic markers. We have peonies in our garden that are this gorgeous colour and I just love them! I went with purples and greens for Lulu since these colours go so well with the peony colour!

When I looked through my papers, I didn’t have any peonies the particular colour. So, I went online and found some digital papers to match my colouring. This is a great resource for papers that you may wish to find. It’s amazing how many digital papers are available!

The other papers were pulled from my stash to match the purple and green of Lulu’s dress. I already had the Graphic 45 die cut green piece leftover from another project. So, I decided it would work for this card to give Lulu a nice backdrop from the peony paper.

The sentiment was stamped in Berry Burst onto a tag that came from the Artistry Collector’s Edition Vol 2. The doily under the sentient and stamp also came from that Collection. I love it when you get a collection that has all these fun elements that match the papers!

I added a wooden butterfly layered on top of the stamp to add interest. The rhinestones and glossy dots added some sparkle to the card. Clear Wink of Stella was added to her bow and to the peony for shimmer.

Seashell Wishes Card

A birthday card with a girl listening to a seashell
Seashell Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Seashell Wishes Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the beautiful new release Seashell Rosealea

The Details of My Card

When I saw the new release for Conie Fong, I couldn’t wait to get started colouring her, especially that hair! So gorgeous! So, I used my Copic markers to colour her up. I decided to go with natural tones for the shells since I wanted her to shine. A scattering of the coloured blue shells tied in my blue colour scheme from the DSP.

Once she was coloured, I placed Rosealea onto a Blushing Bride die cut scallop base to help anchor her and distinguish her from the shells DSP.

The DSP was perfect for my cards with its shells in different colours and blue watery sheets! I thought the white shells die against the blue DSP really popped! To add to the dimension of the die cut shells, I used my Embossing Mat to make the details really stand out.

I thought it would be fun to add real shells to my card! So, I used some from the Dollar Store. Tip: use Glossy Accents to create a strong adhesive hold. I also used Glossy accents on the pink pearls in her hair.

To add an iridescent look, I used a scattering of Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls and Clear Wink of Stella on the flowers in her hair.

The finishing touch was a stamped die cut sentiment making this a perfect birthday card!

Have a Mice Day!

A card with a mouse holding a flowers and three daisy flowers beside her.
Have a Mice Day! Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Have a Mice Day! as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the Daisy Mouse And Hailey Hamster Bundle.

This Bundle includes 8 images:

  • Title 1: Daisy Mouse JPG format
  • Title 2: Hailey Hamster JPG format
  • Title 3 & 4: Daisy Flower Right JPG / PNG format
  • Title 5 & 6: Daisy Flower Left JPG / PNG format
  • Title 7 & 8: Have A Mice Day! Sentiment JPG / PNG format

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to create a CAS (Clean and Simple) card using Daisy Mouse and a bouquet of daisies. It’s funny that I find making CAS so hard. I keep wanting to add things to it! Lol!

I knew that I wanted to create a mini slimline card with Daisy on one side and the bouquet of daisies on the other side with the sentiment. Once I laid out my design in Microsoft Word, I coloured the images with my Copic Markers. I thought colouring the daisies in yellow would have them pop off the white paper.

For embellishments, I only added some epoxy stickers that look like dew drops on a petal of each flower. To add a bit of sparkle, I used Clear Wink of Stella on Daisy’s bow on her tail.

I felt the card still needed a little something and decided to use a multi liner pen and a ruler to draw in a border around the whole card. I thought about free handing it but decided that I didn’t want to chance ruining my project! Lol! So, in the end, I found the straight lines helped to ground Daisy while adding a fun element!

My Brewtiful Day Card

Card with a girl holding a coffee cup
My Brewtiful Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Brewtiful Day Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using Avery with Coffee (Without Glasses).

The Details of My Card

For my card, I used the Brewtiful paper to create horizontal bands with the coffee theme. The green corrugated band that draws the eye to Avery mirrors the one on Avery’s coffee cup.

I had fun colouring this cutie with my Copic markers especially those curls! I went with espresso-coloured (since we are talking about coffee! Lol) pants, bright green for her top and purple for her sweater.

Don’t you just love the hearts on the coffee cup and in her hair! To mirror these hearts, I added some hearts over the coffee, especially since we know Avery loves her coffee!

And talk about coffee! Wouldn’t you just love a coffee as big as the die cut coffee cup! The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso ink (another homage to coffee) on the coffee cup!

Star Dust Stickles was added to the hearts. The only other embellishment was a scattering of red rhinestones for a bit of sparkle.

Buzzing by to Say Hi Card

  • Title 3: Hap-Bee Birthday PNG
  • Title 4: Sweet As Can Bee PNG
  • Title 5: Just Bee Cause PNG
  • Title 6: Just Bee Cause – Bold PNG

The Details of My Card

I was having so much fun colouring this cutie with my Copic markers that I created two cards. I shared one already and will post a link at the end, but here is the other card that I promised.

For my card, I used the honeycomb quilt top die again, but this time I used the whole die and placed individual die cut honeycombs on top. Some I layered with dimesionals and other I adhered directly to the honeycomb quilt.

The Bundle comes with sentiments, but I wanted to heat emboss with white on black card stock. I love the contrast of white on black especially for my card! The honeycomb die set comes with individual dies that have a heart, star and hi. For the sentiment, I die cut the word “HI” off and used the “hi” honeycomb instead. So fun!

I used Clear Wink of Stella on the bee’s wings and Glossy Accents on the cherries. And a scattering of red rhinestones added some sparkle.

Colour Your World

A card with a Girl holding art supplies saying Fill your life with colors.
Colour Your World

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Colour Your World as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the beautiful Artistic Leilani. She comes with 9 stamps including:

  • Artistic Leilani Left
  • Artistic Leilani Right
  • Artistic Leilani Left – Short Dress
  • Artistic Leilani Right – Short Dress
  • Sentiment: You Color My World
  • Sentiment: You Colour My World
  • Sentiment: Happy Birthday To An Amazing Friend
  • Sentiment: I am not a hoarder. I am an artist.
  • Sentiment: Art comes from the heart

The Details of My Card

A good friend of mine retired recently and she loves to colour. In fact, she was the one who got me into making cards and colouring! So, I thought that Artistic Leilani would be perfect for her retirement card!

For my mini slimline card, I coloured Leilani with my Copic markers using the colour scheme of the Cute & Crafty Paper Pad with its bright colours. It was idea for my crafty colouring theme.

I used the piece of designer paper that had the bands of rainbow colours and layered it beneath my quatrefoil die cut. Isn’t it neat how the different bands of colour peek through the white die cut!

I love the cute Copic marker die cut piece from the Odds and Ends that I layered beneath my sentiment. A row of rainbow-coloured hearts is the other die cut piece that I pulled from the Chit Chat. You must have hearts when it comes to what you love to do!

I used Wink of Stella on the flowers in her hair and Glossy Accents on her pink jar. The finishing touch was some glittery sprinkles that matched my colour scheme.

Hello Ladybug Card

Card with a ladybug and daisies on it.
Hello Ladybug Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Hello Ladybug Card using the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set and matching Ladybug Builder Punch.

The Details of My Card

This card was for a swap, but the Annual Catty was retiring. We couldn’t use any retiring product on the card. So, my solution was lots of punches and embellishments that I knew would carry over!

For my card, I decided to use the Picture This Dies again since it reminded me of the dots on the ladybug’s wings. These dies are so versatile, and I have used them for several cards! I used the circles die for this card and thought it would be neat having the daisies popping out of the holes!

Before adhering with dimensionals the die cut Real Red piece to the Basic Black mat, I wrapped white Baker’s twine around one of the holes and tied it in a bow.

After lots of punching and layering 2 sets of petals on top of each other followed by the flower centre from the Poppy Moments Dies, I had 3 sets of flowers for the holes.

Next came the ladybug. But first, I heat embossed in black the spots before I punch the wings out of Real Red cardstock. Then I punched out the body in Basic Black and assembled the ladybug.

Since the stamp set is photopolymer and I could line up my stamp easily, I die cut the smallest circle out of the Circles Die and then stamped the hello in black. Tip: only use the part of the die you want, not the whole thing to save paper. Another tip is use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to allow you time to slide the sentiment piece in place.

A scattering of black Classic Dots and Red Rhinestones tied in my ladybug theme.

Heartfelt Sunflower Wishes Card

A card with a Sunflower on it
Heartfelt Sunflower Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Heartfelt Sunflower Wishes Card using the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle by Stampin’ Up! This bundle is currently on sale for the March 2022 Savings Are in Bloom Sale. Check it out in my online store: https://www.stampinup.ca/products/celebrate-sunflowers-bundle-(english)?demoid=2103981.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I wanted to show my support for the Ukraine people. My heart bleeds for them and anyone who are affected by this war! So, I decided to create a sunflower card since it is their national flower. I also decided to use Bumblebee and Pacific Point as my card stock choices to reflect the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

To highlight the sunflowers, I stamped in Pacific Point the sky stamp from the Oceanfront Stamp Set a couple of times on the Basic White card stock. I love how it peeks out from the top die cut sunflower! Once that was done, I layered my pieces. The sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder and punched out with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. A scattering of epoxy shapes represents the “tears of the people” in my mind.

I have created several cards with this bundle in the past. I will include links to the cards at the bottom of this post. There is even a quick video on YouTube explaining the advanced colouring technique I used on the sunflower.
