Magical Napkin Fold Card

Magical Napkin Fold Card a fun fold card with a wizard on the middle
Magical Napkin Fold Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Magical Napkin Fold Card using Wiz by Mo’s Digital Pencil. Recently, the son of family friends celebrated his 13th birthday. Every year I try to make him an interactive card and this year I went with a Napkin Fold that he opens to reveal the wizard with a Push Button to turn the lights on the crystal ball. How fun is that!

The Details of My Magical Napkin Fold Card

I had coloured this image twice for another card. So, I had this one leftover and decided to use it for this birthday card. I used the same techniques for both cards. I will include a link to the other card with the instructions at the end of this post.

Glossy accents were added to the mystical crystal ball. I used a gelly roll pen on the mystical lightening arcing from the crystal ball. Clear Wink of Stella was added to the stars on his shirt, the gold band on his hat and the star hanging from his hat. To add some mystical particles, I used my splatter brush with Frost White All-Purpose Ink.

Next, I added the EZ-Light to the back of my coloured image placing them strategically with one behind the globe and the other two where the arcs of light ends. I secured them with scotch tape and added a lot of black dimensionals around the lights so that the light was focused where I wanted them, and the mechanism was hidden. The “Push” button was created on my computer and printed out. It was then coloured with my Copic markers to match the globe.

Once that was done, it was time to create my napkin fold card base. The papers were perfect for my magical theme especially the little wizards and spell sayings! Tip: cut the squares first and then cut the on the diagonal. I made sure that the words lined up on the diagonal cuts when I adhered them down.

Since my card was so thick, I need to create a belly band. So, I used more of the wizard paper along with stickers from the Pack. I punch two holes on the front and threaded the hemp cord through them.

For the back of the belly band, I used a doodle-pop sticker of a castle with some fireworks and the Birthday Boy sticker from the Pack.

Next, I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink and the stars in Crushed Curry onto the white card stock that was for the written message. I also created an easel so that the card can stand up when displayed.

Since my card was so bulky already, I just added some Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins to match my mystical theme.

My Wedded Bliss Card

My Wedded Bliss Card - a wedding card with a couple on it
My Wedded Bliss Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Wedded Bliss Card using the digital stamp Wedding Bells by Tiddly Inks Stamps! This past weekend, we celebrated a wonderful couple who tied the knot!

The Details of My Wedded Bliss Card

For my card, I decided to colour with my Copic markers the couple on the card to look like the bridal couple who were getting married. I added Silver Gelly Roll Pen to the Bride’s tiara, her ring and the veil to tie in the silver embossed sentiment. Next, I used Clear Wink of Stella on her veil for even more sparkle.

The Lady’s Diary papers created an elegant look which tied in the masculine with the pinstripes and the feminine with the florals. The flowers and leaves were also punched out using the matching papers in the Lady’s Diary Pad.

Since this was a wedding card and I wanted an elegant look, I decided to emboss the sentiment before die cutting it out. I added a silver foil border to some leafy vellum that I tucked behind the sentiment. I also silver embossed the inside sentiment, added a silver foil border and a strip of the floral paper.

Finally, for embellishments, I added two heart charms, some silver metallic pearls to mirror the embossed silver accents and pearl jewels for the flower centres.

Paint It Black Card

My Paint It Black Card with girl playing cello
My Paint It Black Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Paint It Black Card using Wednesday from The Girl by C.C. Designs. This fun box card is perfect for Halloween with its gothic feel!

The Details of My Card

I love the new Wednesday TV series and when I saw these stamps by C.C. Designs, I couldn’t resist getting them to colour! Since Wednesday is always in black, I pulled out my Cool Copic markers to colour her up. To make her eyes pop, I used a matt black gelly roll pen on them. Thing is on the same stamp, but it was an easy snip with my paper snips to separate him so that I could place him with his lit match facing Wednesday.

For my card, I wanted to recreate the scene where Wednesday is playing her cello on her balcony. So, I decided that a box card would be fun! I found online a digital stamp of the window that I printed at 2 7/8” from my computer and die cut with a 3” circle die. Since, my box card had multiple layers, I added the window to the back layer, Wednesday to the middle layer and Thing to the front layer to create lots of dimension.

Side View of My Box Card
Side View of My Box Card

For the balcony, I embossed black card stock with a brick embossing folder and then rubbed Firebird wax on the bricks to make them pop and give them a red tint. The top filigree was a gate die that I repurposed to just use the top part of the die cut to give my balcony a gothic feel. The banister railing was also another die that I repurposed to add to the gothic as well. For both die cuts, I rubbed Brushed Iron Wax on to make them look ancient.

Next, I white embossed the sentiment from the BFF Stamp Set and die cut it out with a retired Stampin’ Up! die. Love this fun sentiment that Gomez calls Wednesday in the series! Finally, I added some black rhinestones to add a subtle sparkle to my card.

The Perfect Day Card

The Perfect Day Card - A wedding card with bride and groom kissing
The Perfect Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing The Perfect Day Card using the digital stamp After the Vows by Tiddly Inks Stamps. This past weekend we attended a wedding, and this was the card I made for the happy couple to celebrate their love!

The Details of My Card

The digital stamp comes with the couple in full length, but I thought a close-up of the couple kissing would be a lovely focal point. So, I coloured the couple with my Copic markers in tones befitting my couple. The bride has gorgeous flowing locks of hair, and this stamp was perfect to represent her! I added a light coating of white pencil over the veil to differentiate where the veil was on her hair. Unfortunately, it is hard to see in the photo. Finally, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the bride’s veil to give it shimmer. For the groom, I coloured the skin and hair to look like the groom’s Pilipino heritage. This was the first time colouring this skin tone and I was quite happy with how it turned out!

For my card, I decided to create lots of pretty layers with the lace ribbon, heart doily and die cut hearts. The beautiful Craft O’Clock paper was the perfect backdrop with lace, flowing script, worn wood planks and flowers on it!

The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder to match the sparkly rhinestones and then die cut out. The die cut “love” sentiment was the epitome of what brought these two together to be married.

Finally, I couldn’t resist adding one more heart in the form of the sliver heart charm under the sentiment.

Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card

Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card - a birthday card with a cat holding a balloon
Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card using the Grouchy Pets Clear Stamp Set and matching dies by CC Designs. It was my sister-in-law’s birthday recently and I thought she would find this kind of snarky card funny!

The Details of My Card

For my Grouchy Kitty Birthday Card, I knew that I wanted to use the grouchy cats from CC Designs since I thought my SIL (sister-in-law) would get a kick out of them! Plus, I found the perfect poem online that I typed out on my computer and printed off. If you watch Sheldon the TV series, you will get the reference. I knew that my SIL would get a laugh out of it!

A poem about a grouch cat
Grouchy Kitty Poem

My SIL has a brown tabby cat. So, I coloured with my Copic markers one of the cats to look like it. For variation, I made another black and the third an orange tabby. For the tabby cats, I used a Copic multi liner to create their stripes in a triangle scribble shape.

Cats Coloured with my Copic Markers

Next, I pulled out my Small Slimline with Lift the Flaps Dies by Lawn Fawn. I love this interactive die set! So fun! I thought it would be neat to have one cat on the front holding a balloon. Don’t you just love the face on this cat! Like he is so put out that he must hold a balloon! Lol!

When the flaps are open, you see the other cats and the grouchy kitty poem. I used my paper snips to cut down the cats to fit and added a party hat sticker to each of the cats. Again, the faces of those cats are so priceless especially since they must wear party hats! I can definitely see a cat making that face! Lol!

I added a few present stickers to dress up the poem panel. On the front of the card, I added some paw gems and red rhinestones for embellishments.

My Happy Couple Card

My Happy Couple Card - A Wedding card with a bride and groom holding champagne glasses
My Happy Couple Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Happy Couple Card using the digital stamp Wedding Couple by Krista Smith Stamps. This past weekend we had a wedding in our family, and this was the card I made for the happy couple to celebrate them!

The Details of My Card

I made a bridal shower card for the bride a few months ago and based my colouring on the couple getting married. They both loved the card (I will post it at the end)! So, I decided to do the same thing and colour these two cuties the same way. I went with green for the guy’s suit since I knew he would be wearing green. White Gelly Roll Pen was added to their eyes to make them sparkle and the girl’s lips to make them glossy. I added Glossy Accents to the Champagne glasses to make them shine. Clear Wink of Stella was added to the lace trim of the bride’s dress to make it sparkle.

Since I knew that their flowers were going to be wildflowers, I again went with the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper and matching Dainty Delight Dies like I did with the shower card.

Full View of Stamp
Full View of Stamp

I knew that I wanted to use the arbour frame with a shimmery white card stock, but with my coloured couple in the centre rather than the generic bride and groom shadows that came in the frame. So, I used my paper snips to cut the shadows out.

The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder to match all the gold accents including the frame around the arbour piece, the gold dots, and the strip of gold under the sentiment. I used my Paper Snips to add an angle to the sentiment piece.

A scattering of heart shaped pearls around the sentiment, along with the wooden heart embellishment, added to my theme of love.

A Monstrous Birthday Card

A birthday card with a girl in front of a haunted house
A Monstrous Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing A Monstrous Birthday Card using Wednesday from The BFF Stamp Set by C.C. Designs. Today is my big brother’s birthday and I always send him cards that suit him. He has a twisted sense of humour. So, I knew he would get a kick out of my card!

Of course, I had to include Thing as her sidekick.

For my card, I wanted to recreate the scene from the show where she is entering through the gates to the Gates Mansion. So, I pulled out my spookiest dies, papers, and Basic Black card stock.

The Kaisercraft paper had a spooky scene with trees and crows laminated on the black night sky. Why do all horror shows have the characters enter a scary haunted house at night! Lol! Since my card is in blacks, I used the Haunted House die and my embossing mat to get a lot of detail in my house.

Next, I used several dies to create my hill and ground that the house stood on. For the gates, I die cut them and them rubbed Brushed Iron Metallique Wax to make them stand out from the black background.

I thought the sentiment “Have a monstrous birthday” was perfect for my card! So, I white embossed it and trimmed the sentiment piece to create a flag. I added some die cut black glimmer bats to my scene to add sparkle.

An Adventurous Birthday Card

A dwarf with a pick axe on a birthday card
An Adventurous Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing An Adventurous Birthday Card using Dwarf 2 by Mo’s Digital Pencil.

A good friend had his birthday and this was the card that I sent him. He loves to roleplay going on adventures and finding hordes of treasure. So, I thought Dwarf2 would make him a fun card!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided I would make a fun faux shaker card and fill it will gold, copper, and silver sequins to represent a treasure hoard.  I coloured the dwarf in muted colours with my Copic markers that would suit a miner digging for gold.

The Bo Bunny paper I had in my stash and suited my adventuring theme.

I die cut a piece of Basic Black card stock with a stitched rectangle die. Then, I embossed it with the Foundry Folder and rubbed brushed iron wax onto it. I loved the way it brought out the details of the metal pieces and rivets to look like a metal door! This was the perfect backdrop for my dwarf!

For the sentiments, I heat embossed them in white on Basic Black card stock and then die cut them with stitched rectangles too. Next, I rubbed the brushed iron wax on them as well to match the door.

The only embellishments were to glue a few sequins to the clear envelope that created my faux shaker card.

I Detect a Birthday Card

I Detect a Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here to share my I Detect a Birthday Card using the It’s a Mystery Stamp Set by Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps!

This card was for a 13-year-old boy whose birthday is today! Every year I create an interactive card for him. Last year I created a Pop & Twist card and in the past years, I created a Never-Ending Card, a Slider card, a wobble card and so on. He always says that I make the best cards EVER! Got to love that!

So, this year, I decided to create a Double Flap Flashlight Card for him to investigate the clues to his birthday mystery! So much fun! For my card, I thought the It’s a Mystery Stamp Set and the Master Detective Paper were perfect for my theme!

I stamped the images with Jet Black StazOn Ink onto a window sheet. Tip: be careful when stamping the stamp since the ink will be slippery. The stamp may slide if you don’t keep your stamp horizontal as you press. StazOn will not smear once it dries though.

My Card in Action

I used the second largest Stitched Rectangle Die to create a window in Basic Black cardstock and glued the window sheet behind it. A circle punch was used to create an opening for finger access at the base of the window piece. To create the “hidden clues”, I glued Basic Black cardstock to the back of the window piece on three sides leaving the bottom open to create a pocket where the flashlight would go. The black stamped images disappear against the black cardstock! Tip: use really strong adhesive since this is the interactive part.

For my flashlight, I used a circle punch to punch the white flashlight part. The handle was 2 strips of ¾” x 5” Basic Black glue together to make it sturdy. This handle was sandwiched between the white circle and a Basic Black scalloped circle to create the flashlight. I added some glimmer washi tape to make it catch the eye.

The inside of the card was decorated with the Master Detective paper. Graphic 45 made it so easy with the tags! I even used some of the tags to create pull out cards for which the boy can play.

The only stamping on the inside was the sentiment piece. The only embellishment I used was the magnifying glass charm. Perfect for my card!

Sweet Macaron Card

A thank you card with cookies and Eiffel Tower on it
Sweet Macaron Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Sweet Macaron Card using Macaron Bouquet Stamp from Stamping Bella.

I was asked to create a card for a Spring Challenge for a group that I am a member. There were 4 mood boards from which to choose. For my card, I decided to go with the Springtime in Parisian Mood Board.

The Details of My Card

Paris is one of my favourite places to go! I love macarons! And I love the colours that were on the mood board! So, I went with the Macaron Bouquet by Stamping Bella and coloured them with my Copic markers in a light bright pink with a mint green ribbon pulling from the mood boards colours.

A mood board with images of Paris and France
Parisian Spring Mood Board

Since, this was a Parisian card, the die cut Eiffel Tower rubbed with Brushed Iron Wax to bring out the details was a must have. The Eiffel Tower to me is an iconic symbol of Paris!

Spring in Paris is something else, especially with its beautiful cherry blossoms! So, I decided to create my own cherry blossoms with a punch in layers of pinks and whites to match my Dainty Diamonds pink embossed paper. I added pearls to the flower centres and coloured a few pearls with my RV Copic marker for the white flowers.

Of course, since my card is Parisian inspired, I must have some French on it and the word “merci” fitted perfectly down the side of my focal point.

I trimmed the sentiment that came with the stamp down so that it would fit my card from:

“It is the sweet, simple
things of life
which are the real ones after all
~ Laura Ingalls Wilder.”

to just using the first two lines. I didn’t want it to cover too much of the Eiffel Tower.

A scattering of Mint Macaron Gems tied in my colour scheme and added some sparkle. I also used Clear Wink of Stella on the macarons to add more sparkle.

My Bridal Shower Card

A bridal shower card with a couple on it
My Bridal Shower Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Bridal Shower Card using the digital stamp Engagement by Krista Smith Stamps. We have a wedding coming up in our family and I was invited to the Bridal Shower. So, I created a custom card for the future bride.

The Details of My Card

I coloured these cuties with my Copic markers in the same colours as the couple who are getting married. Don’t you just love the guy’s red hair! So fun to colour! I went with greens and pinks for them since I knew these will be their wedding colours. I added White Gelly Roll Pen to their eye to make them sparkle and to the girl’s lips to make them glossy.

Since I knew that their flowers are going to be wildflowers especially daisies, I went with the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper and matching Dainty Delight Dies.

To add to the rustic look of the DSP, I blended some Crumb Cake Ink onto the edges of the paper.

The sentiment was stamped in VersaFine ink and trimmed with my Paper Snips to fit.

The die cut flourish behind the coloured panel was trimmed so that only one side showed to help balance the die cut flowers and leaves on the opposite side.

To keep with my wildflower theme, I only added a few Brass Butterflies for some sparkle.

Under Your Spell Card

A Valentine card with a Wizard on it
Under Your Spell Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Under Your Spell Card using Wiz by Mo’s Digital Pencil.

This past week was Valentine’s Day, and I made this card to give my Hubby. He loves anything fantasy and I thought the Wiz would be a fun card to make for him!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I coloured the Wiz with my Copic markers in magical shades of purples and blues with bright yellow accents. I used my Copic refills in B39 and V17 with 99 % Isopropyl Alcohol to create the mystical auras around him. You can use any colours for this effect, but I picked two colours that draw on the colour scheme that I used on the image.

Background Technique

To create this technique, I worked in small sections to keep the ink wet while I played. I dripped a few drops of each refill making sure that the drops were far enough away from the image since they bled. I also overlapped them which helped with the blending and coverage.

While the ink was wet, I dipped the q-tip into the alcohol and dotted and dabbed through the inks. As I dabbed, I pulled the ink toward the image. The dotting created lighter splotches where the ink was repelled. I re-dipped the q-tip regularly into the rubbing alcohol to push the ink around and dotted toward the Wiz and ground. This section was much more diluted to achieve an effect that the ink was blended out to white. I also added reinker to a glass mat and dipped the wet q-tip into it add more ink in the diluted area.

A Technique to create a mystical background
Background Technique Using Copic Reinkers

Once I was happy with the background, I use Y02/Y000 to push the darker background inks back from my image to create a yellow glow that softens the darker edges.

I added some die cut stars in gold glimmer paper swirling around the top sentiment. A scattering of other glimmer stars helped with the mystical theme.

Glossy accents were added to the mystical crystal ball. I used a gelly roll pen on the mystical lightening arcing from the crystal ball. Clear Wink of Stella was added to the stars on his shirt, the gold band on his hat and the star hanging from his hat.

My Clockwork Anniversary Card

A card with a girl holding a pocket watch
My Clockwork Anniversary Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here with My Clockwork Anniversary Card using the beautiful Steampunk Time digital stamp By Krista Smith Stamps for my 28th wedding anniversary card for my Hubby.

My hubby loves anything steampunk and I found this awesome digital stamp by Krista Smith Stamps that I thought would make a beautiful card for him!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to colour her with my Copic markers in muted tones to match my paper and my grungy steampunk theme. I haven’t used this colour scheme before but was very happy with how it turned out! I went with black hair with blue underpainting to give her a hip edge. Another first for me to colour like this!

Using Blue marker to add to black hair
Underpainting B24 to Hair

Once I finished colouring her, I blended some ink along the edges of the paper to give it a distressed look. I also blended ink along the edges of the design paper and sentiment to make them more worn. The paper from Stamperia was perfect for my steampunk theme since it had that industrial look to it.

Of course, I had to add the pocket watch die since she is holding a pocket watch. I rubbed some Brushed Iron Wax on it, the gears, and mats to make them look worn and to bring out the details on them. This is my new favourite product, next to my Copic markers, of course!

You can never have too many gears on a steampunk card! So, I pulled out my Tim Holtz idea-ology gears, as well as another small silver gear that I had in my stash. I love how the silver gear had a heart for the centre of it instead of a circle! Perfect for an anniversary card!

Glossy accents were added to her pocket watch and Star Dust Stickles was added to the heart for the sentiment.

Using another trick that I like to implement, I coloured the rhinestones with my Copic markers to match my colours.

A simple sentiment with another heart says it all!

Happy Canada Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian peeps! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my mini slimline Happy Canada Day Card using Red, White & Pooh! Digital Stamp by Polka Dot Orchard.

The Details of My Card

I’m a big fan of Winnie the Pooh and when I saw this stamp, I couldn’t resist buying it and colouring it with my Copic markers on Canada Day!

I don’t have a lot of Canadian papers and embellishments, but the Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper was perfect since it has a design with fireworks! The Canadian flag and Eh! Maple leaf are toppers for food that I repurpose for my card. I used my Gelly Roll Pen and a red rhinestone to add some sparkle to Piglet’s sparkler. A scattering of more red rhinestones tie in the Canadian theme.

My Tears for Ukraine Card

Squirrel holding a sunflowers with tear in his eye
My Tears for Ukraine Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Tears for Ukraine Card using the Clarence with Sunflower for Ukraine illustrated by Dustin Pike for The Rabbit Hole Designs. The people at TRHD were kind enough to make this stamp free so that we can all show our support for the Ukraine.

This stamp really sums up how I feel about all the unrest going on with Russia and the Ukraine! My heart bleeds for the Ukraine! So, I wanted to show my support in the best what I can…through my crafting!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to make the stamp the focal point with minimal embellishments and paper since this card is all about the message!

I coloured Clarence and his sunflower with my Copic markers and added a few accents with my White Gelly Roll Pen on the seeds of the sunflower.

I decided to use Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point as my card stock choices to reflect the colours of the Ukrainian flag. A couple of layered paper flags under the “heartfelt” sentiment help to set it off. I wanted it to be highlighted since this is what my card is all about. To match my colour choices, I coloured some clear rhinestones with my Copic markers. Finally, I added some clear epoxy stickers on certain parts of the flower to represent the tears of the people.
