My Guest Design Team Card for Conie Fong Art & Design

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am so excited to be joining Conie Fong Art & Design as a Guest Design Team Member again for January! For my first GDT card for January, I created Molly’s Valentine Card using Molly’s Basket of Love – with headband. This stamp comes in a set of three digital stamps including Molly’s Basket of Love and Molly Fairy.

I have been wanting to colour this sweet image for a while and thought that with Valentine’s Day next month, she would be perfect! Since she is a Valentine card, I coloured her with my Copic markers in pinks, reds and browns to match my paper. I pulled out my Be Mine Stitched Dies for the large heart and the cluster of smaller ones. For embellishments, I went into my stash of Stampin’ Up! trinkets for the key and heart lock and tied them with red/pink/white twine to a wooden heart. The twine ends were shaped into a heart since you can never have too many hearts on a Valentine card! I just love the ribbon with its soft curves and lacey details. A scattering of red rhinestones and Clear Wink of Stella on all of Molly’s hearts and the bow on her basket, add a bit of sparkle.

Will You be my Valentine?

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Will You Be My Valentine? Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. Have you started your Valentine cards yet?

For my card, I used the sweet Emma with Panda. Even though this digital stamp isn’t a Valentine image, I thought that Emma made the perfect Valentine card with her panda! Wouldn’t you love to receive a panda like hers as a Valentine gift?

The Details of My Card

It was so much fun colouring Emma and her panda with my Copic markers! I decided to colour them red, white and black/gray to match the papers that I had picked out. Even though they are not Valentine papers, I wanted red/white dots to echo her shirt and the Magical Adventures paper was perfect for that! The Breeze Papers gave the card a bit of elegance while bringing in the white/black/gray to match everything else.

Since this is my Valentine’s card, I included hearts with the large white doily and the heart die from Penny Black. I used the White Gelly Roll Pen on the dots on her shirt. The Clear Wink of Stella is on her bow and shoes. The Black Gelly Roll Pen was used to give the Panda dimension in his eyes. The red and white jewel felt flowers were found in the dollar area of my local Michaels Arts & Crafts store.

Don’t you just love the Panda button with his glittery face! I had to make sure that the bow from my die was under him…like unwrapping a present! The Real Red Ruched Ribbon adds a nice touch of red behind the focal point. A couple of red and clear rhinestones add a bit of sparkle! Just goes to show you that you can make a Valentine card out of things that are not necessarily all Valentine!

Hugs for Mr. Snowman

It’s Laurie here with my Hugs for Mr. Snowman Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her ‘Snowman Hug’ Christmas Digital Stamp. Isn’t this just the sweetest image with the little one giving Mr. Snowman a big hug!

I pulled out the Winter Fun paper a while back and had it sitting on my table in anticipation of this card. I love the soft blues and browns of it and coloured with my Copic markers the stamp to match. Once the image was coloured, I used my new Stampin’ Up! Blending Brush to give the sky a pretty blue to make the snowman pop from the background. Of course, you have to have snowflake dies cuts when a snowman is involved! I thought the Tan/ White Twine and the snowflake charm were perfect accents to my card! I added some sparkle with the Clear Gelly Roll Pen on the snowsuit’s snowflakes and a scattering of rhinestones.

Happy New Year’s Eve! Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! For my last card of 2020, I am sharing my Guest Design Team Inspiration for Conie Fong Art & Design using Dandelion Wishes. This sweet fairy is “blowing wishes your way” for a wonderful 2021!

I had so much fun colouring her with my Copics markers in bright and bonny colours for a change from the Christmas colours that I have been using lately! Our Friendship is Tweet

It’s Laurie here with Our Friendship is Tweet Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her cute ‘Tweet Friendship’ Christmas Digital Stamp. I have been a big fan of Rachelle Anne Miller’s for a long time. In fact, I used my rubber stamp that was in my stash to create my card, but you can get the digital version in her store.

I love this sweet little girl with her tweet friends! I though she made a perfect card for a winter birthday and I have a lot of them coming up in January and February. So I have plans for her!

For my card, I coloured her with my favourite BG and YG colour combinations of Copic markers. I then created a frame by laying down the die that I used to cut her out and sponged Pool Party Ink with my new Blending Brush from Stampin’ Up! When I lifted the die up, I was left with a white frame to set off my image. I love the Frostyville Wreath in the Sparkle Glimmer Paper, but it was too small for my image. So, I cut it apart and draped it along the frame. To balance the “wreath” of snowflakes, I placed another larger snowflake opposite them. I thought that the Metallic Mesh Ribbon looked like cracked ice creating a subtle texture to the card. A scattering of Adhesive-backed Snowflakes added to the Winter Wonderland theme of my card.

Jingle All the Way

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Jingle All the Way Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I used the updated Santa Ellie with Gift which is only $1 right now! Make sure you get yours at such a great deal!!

I coloured Ellie with my Copic Markers in Santa red and white colours. Isn’t she just the cutest in her Santa outfit! I knew that I wanted to create a shaker card and use some Christmas foil accents. There have been some awesome shaker cards by the PND Design Team, and I was inspired by them to give it a try! Since the Jingle All the Way die cut had bells, I used mini bells from the dollar store for the shaker part. I had to double up my adhesive strips to give the bells enough room to jingle when you shook the card. To tie in those bells, I die cut some from the Sounds of the Seasons Dies in the red and green foil and then tied 3 bells with linen thread.

Let’s Rejoice Christmas Card

My Let's Rejoice GDT Card — My Let’s Rejoice Christmas Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here again! I am sharing my Let’s Rejoice Christmas Card as my Guest Design Team Inspiration for Conie Fong Art & Design using the beautiful Angel Prayers. I created a slimline card for my Holy scene.

The Details of My Card

This digital stamp is perfect for so many occasions like birthday, sympathy, get well and thinking of you. However, for my card, I wanted her to be the Christmas Angel from the Nativity. So, I coloured her with my Copic Markers in Christmas colours.

I use the Clear Star Gelly Roll Pen on her wings and smooshed the lines with my finger before they dried. This gives the lines a softer look, but still allows a flowing movement of her wings. I also used the same pen on all the gold accents to make them shimmer. Finally, I added Clear Wink of Stella on her wrap. You can never have too much sparkle where an angel is concerned!

Instead of a night scene, I decided to create a sunrise with the dawning of the birth of Jesus Christ. For my sunrise, I used my Distress Oxide Inks and my Mini Blending Tool starting with Fossilized Amber at the base of the watercolor paper, followed by Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, Broken China and Faded Jeans.

Once the colours were blended, I used my Splatter Tool dipped in Frost White Shimmer Paint and then in water to create the sky.

For my Nativity scene, the die I used comes as border. So, a few snips here and there and add my Sahara Sand dune to create my layered scene with lots of dimensionals between the layers.

The Gold Foil stars were from the Silent Night Dies from Creative Expressions. The North Star was snipped from the largest die in the set.

To finish the card, I used a Gold Foil mat followed by a Stitched Cherry Cobber mat.

My Christmas Nativity Scene

It’s Laurie here with My Christmas Nativity Scene as my Design Team Inspiration for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios. This time I wanted to create something a little different than a card! So, I made a multi layered shadowbox that lights up using the beautiful Nativity Christmas Digital Stamp.

The Details of My Scene

I had so much fun colouring the Holy Family with my Copic Markers! Once I did that, I created my scene using a number of dies from my stash. I ended up with 4 different layers. I love my focal point of the Family and the manger behind them! The In Good Taste Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up has photographic images of wood. Perfect for my manger.

TIP: Since the inside of the frame is smaller than the outside, I made my largest layer 5 5/8″ x 5 5/8″. All layers were 5 5/8″ wide with varying heights depending on their position.

The next step was to attach the lights. The wire from the lights was very malleable allowing me to position them exactly where I wanted. I even added a couple of lights behind Jesus’s head to give him a glow. I ended up using a ton of scotch tape to secure the lights.

Once the lights were in place, the next step was to add Foam Adhesive Strips between the layers.

Here is a photo of all the layers adhered together. Now that is a lot of layers!

Not everyone is into home decor, but this project could easily be made into a card. If I remove the frame and lights, you get a good idea of how a card would look.

My Christmas Poinsettia Card

My Poinsettia Card — My Christmas Poinsettia Card

I am sharing My Christmas Poinsettia Card using the Poinsettia Petals Bundle by Stampin’ Up! Who wouldn’t love to receive a card like this with all the touchable accents!

I love the details you get from the Poinsettia Dies where you can see the veins of the petals and they are especially striking on the Red Velvet Paper! You can achieve this by layering the cutting dies and the embossing dies together. Resulting in only one pass through your die cutting machine.

For my card, I used a number of products from the Poinsettia Place Suite including the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper and the beautiful Beaded Pearls which are currently on sale! You can just see the Poinsettia Specialty Paper running horizontally underneath the poinsettia. I used a bone folder to give the poinsettia flower extra dimension by curling the leaves a little. The gold cord from the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack and the Beaded Pearl add a touch of shimmer to the card. I just love the softness of this card with all its textures from the different papers used!

My Design Team Card for paper Nest Dolls — My Toys for Tiny Tots Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing my Toys for Tiny Tots Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I used the super cute Ellie in a Box from the New December Release.

It was so much fun colouring Ellie and her pop up box with my Copic markers! I decided to create Elie popping out of a jumble of toys waiting to be distributed by Santa to all the good little boys and girls for Christmas. I thought that the toys dies were perfect for my card even though the set was intended for a baby. They were one of the very first die sets that I bought over eight years ago! So, I can’t find the company that made them, but there are a lot more current dies that would work just as well. After cutting them out, I embossed and sponged ink on them while they were still in the dies to give added dimension on the raised areas.

Don’t you think that the Floral Oval die that Ellie is layered on looks like peppermint swirls on each side. The Designer Series Paper was from my stash as well, but I thought that the toys and ornaments went well with my theme and make Ellie pop from the background. Don’t you just love the fiber that is behind the focal point! It looks like something that you would use on a Christmas tree with it gold accents which tie in with the gold star and trim on Ellie’s clothes. A couple of Red and Crushed Curry rhinestones add a bit more sparkle.

Sally’s Christmas Friends Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here again! I am sharing my second November Guest Design Team Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the very festive Sally’s Christmas Friends.

I had so much fun colouring with my Copic Markers this sweet tree decorating scene of Sally and her two little helpers! We look forward to decorating our Christmas tree each year. Every time we travel, we buy an ornament for our tree. When we decorate the tree it brings back so many wonderful memories!

I added lots of sparkle with stickles to the white trim of Sally’s clothes, the birds’ hats and the snow. I also used Shimmery Crystal Effects on all the ornaments to give them a glossy shine! For the Clear Wink of Stella, I added it to all the ribbons including the tree topper! You can never have too much sparkle for a Christmas card!

I love the pops of blue from this otherwise traditional coloured card! It ties in nicely with the snowflakes from Lost & Found Christmas Paper Pad and the blue snowflake embellishment.

Don’t you love the felt mittens! I just had to pull them out of my stash for this card! For my ornaments on my tree die, I used red rhinestones and coloured clear ones with my Copics in the blue to match Sally’s tree. A gold glimmer paper star tops it with even more sparkle!

A Grand Adventure Card

My Life is a Grand Adventure Design Team Card — My Design Team Card

It’s Laurie here with A Grand Adventure Card for Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios using her cute Elephant Adventure Digital Stamp. This little girl looks like she is in for the ride of her life and making great memories as she does! One day, I hope to visit Africa and go on Safari with cameras. It’s on my Bucket List!

For my card, it may be hard to see, but the paper has elephants on it along with some other animals like giraffes, birds, hyaenas and more. So I knew I wanted to use that as my base for the card design. Even the Great Memories tag with the elephant came from that paper pack! The iconic Acacia Tree that is behind the tag came from the Safari Collection Dies and was perfect for my African theme!

My Gingerbread Fun Fold Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here sharing My Gingerbread Fun Fold Card for the Design Team of Paper Nest Dolls. I used a number of digital stamps to create my fun gingerbread card including Gingerbread House, Gingerbread Boy, Gingerbread Girl, Ginger bread Winter Boy, Tiny Emma with Cookie and Tiny Ellie with Candy Cane.

I had so much fun creating this wonderland of gingerbread. My idea was that I wanted to create a centre-step card and planned to use my colouring from the recent 30 Day Coloring Challenge to build my card. I’m so happy with how it turned out!

The Steps of My Gingerbread Fun Fold Card

I created a ton of layers with the snow banks that all sparkle with Stardust Stickles and then layered my characters between them in the different folds. Of course, that is not all that sparkles! The windows of the house, Ellies’s candy cane and Emma’s peppermint candy bow all have glossy accents. I even added Clear Wink of Stella to the peppermint swirl on the house, the gum drops in front of the house, the Gingerbread Girl’s bow and hearts and the heart on Ellie’s dress! Can’t have a Christmas card without Christmas trees all dressed up for Christmas with stars and red Christmas lights! The Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper by Stampin Up! was perfect to create my snowy scene.

My Sympathy Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Today I am sharing my second November Guest Design Team Card for Copic for Alle and their Monthly Blue Color Challenge! For My Sympathy Card, I used the digital stamp So Long Yesterday by Ching-Chou Kuik. I thought she was perfect for a special sympathy card that I needed to make.

She was fun to colour with my Copic markers, especially all that hair! I knew that I wanted to highlight the butterflies in the stamp and DSP with the die. Unfortunately the die cut covered up one of the butterflies in the stamp, but easy enough to fix by fussy cutting it out and popping it up on the die cut.

Since the Challenge was Blue and I didn’t have card stock in the exact same colour that I coloured her dress, I coloured a Whisper White frame with my markers, as well as the corner die cut and the rhinestones to match. That is one thing that is nice with alcohol markers, you can colour more than just paper!

My Freezin’ Friends Card

I am sharing My Freezin’ Friends Card using the Freezin’ Fun Bundle by Stampin Up! Aren’t these just the cutest critters frolicking in their winter wonderland!

I wanted to create a winter scene that used all the characters. So, I made a slimline card (3 ½” x 8 ½”) to fit them all on it. Next, I pulled out my Stampin’ Blends and coloured all the cute critters and trees in my Smooth Colouring Technique (see post here on this technique). I used the stitched hill die to create my snow hills. For the front snow hill, I cut the hill once and then lined up the die with the first cut to create a longer hill than the die usually makes. Since I place the seal on an ice floe, I thought he should be floating on a lake. So, I used the hill die to create the edge of the lake and place Pool Party card stock behind it to represent the water. The Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper was perfect for the sky!

Stampin’ Blends Recipe

I use Crumb Cake, Real Red, Petal Pink and Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blends for the rabbit. For the seal, I used Smoky Slate, Petal Pink, Real Red and Mossy Meadow Stampin Blends. I use Pool Party Stampin’ Blends for the ice floe and Mossy Meadow for the trees.

For the raccoon, I used Soft Suede, Basic Black, Real Red, Crumb Cake and Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blends.
