My Happy Mother’s Day Card

Card with a bear holding a rose
My Happy Mother’s Day Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Happy Mother’s Day Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using Bella With Rose.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I thought Bella With Rose would make a perfect Mother’s Day Card! She is such a cutie and Mother’s Day is only a few weeks away!

I decided to go with soft pastel colours to match the beautiful Spring papers from The Paper Boutique. The Stitched with Love Paper Pad matched this colour scheme well and it had purple roses that I used for inspiration to colour my rose.

To me nothing says Mother’s Day like a beautiful doily and this one had roses on it. Perfect for my rose theme and to center my focal point!

I have been wanting to use the beautiful rose die from Paper Roses for a while and thought this was ideal for my card!

A scattering of pink pearls and butterflies to match my paper completed my card.

My Easter Basket

An Easter Basket
My Easter Basket

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Easter Basket using Bunny Emma by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration. Since Easter is this weekend, I thought an Easter basket would be fun with this cutie!

The Details of My Basket

For my basket, I picked out this pretty paper in soft Easter colours of pinks and purples. From that I pulled my Copic colour palette to colour Bunny Emma. The basket is really a purse die, but by using one handle instead of two, it transforms into a basket! I stamped the sentiment onto the cute, stitched pocket and added a die cut button from the paper.

Of course, I just had to decorate the back of the basket with another pocket and button. The pink is from the other side of the pretty floral paper. So, it all goes together beautifully. The finishing touch are a few matching ribbons to balance out Bunny Emma.

All that is left is to fill your basket with Easter grass and chocolates!

My Easter Blessings Card

Easter Card with Daffodils
My Easter Blessings Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Easter Blessings Card using the Daffodil Daydream Bundle by Stampin’ Up! This bundle is perfect for those last-minute Easter cards that you need to make!

Details of My Card

I love our yellow and white daffodils that sprout up each year in our garden! So, I decided to go with this colour scheme for my card!

Photo of daffodils
Daffodils in Our Garden

For my card, I wanted to create a soft look by using Soft Suede Ink to stamp my flowers. To go with this soft look, I used my Blender pens to pick up Old Olive and Bumblebee inks to colour my flowers. Guess what I used for my white petals? I used the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker! Perfect way to add that white!

Daffodil stamp being coloured
Colouring of Daffodils with Blender Pen

I stamped the dots in Crumb Cake around my flowers and added the border stamp in Old Olive ink at the base of my card. I carefully positioned the leaves from the Greenery Embossing Folder so that you could see the embossed leaves on either side of the centre piece. The Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper was the perfect accompaniment to my colouring as well as the gingham ribbon bringing out the Bumblebee colour. The sentiment used the Tailor Made Tags Dies. All this card needed was a Bumblebee Trinket flitting around the flowers!

My Winter Wonderland Mixed Media Piece

Mixed Media Piece using Eskimo Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls
My Winter Wonderland Mixed Media Piece

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Winter Wonderland Mixed Media Piece using Eskimo Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls for my Design Team Inspiration Project. We are still in the depths of winter here is Canada. So, I thought I would make something pretty to brighten the last of the winter days.

The Details of My Project

I decided to create a Mixed Media piece. Something that I haven’t done before but have always wanted to create. So, I pulled out my 8” x 10” Gel Printing Plate, my Distress Paints and brayer and went to town. Once I had paint laid down and before it dried, I stamped several different stamps to add interest to my background piece. I placed my mixed media paper over the gel plate and pulled several prints from it.

Prints from Gel Press

Once everything was dried, I added some shimmery embossing paste using a stencil. I then splattered some paint all over with my splatter brush.

Splattering Paint

At this point, I painted the sides of the wood frame with Seedless Preserves to bring out that colour from the print.

I trimmed down my print, framed it with a matching blue card stock and glued it to my dried frame. Then, I added my “snow” and snowflake dies. Next came, the white embossed sentiment which used the same blue card stock as the frame. I fussy cut my Copic coloured images and used a die cut iceberg to help ground them. A scattering of rhinestones added more shimmer to the piece.

Flowering Fields Birthday Wishes Card

A Card with a Windmill on it
Flowering Fields Birthday Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Flowering Fields Birthday Wishes Card using the Flowering Fields Stamp Set and the Windmill Fields Dies by Stampin’ Up!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I thought it would be fun to create a Centre-Step Card, so it looks like the windmill is popping out of the tulip fields. Of course, if you have a windmill, wouldn’t it be fun to make it interactive! So, I added one of the round brads through the blades and into the windmill base.

Tip – to keep the brad from showing from behind the windmill on the card, folded down the arms at angle.

Position of Brads on Back of Windmill
Position of Brads on Back of Windmill

The windmill was popped up with dimensionals to allow the back of the brad to have room.

I love the beautiful Flowering Fields DSP and used it for the grass/sky piece behind the windmill and the tulip fields! I pulled the colours from the DSP for my sentiment and for the ribbon. A couple of the sweet butterflies balanced out the ribbon on the sentiment.

Supplies:

Inks: Highland Heather Classic Stampin’ Pad (147103)

Love You More Than Chocolate Card

My Valentine Card with Chocolates on it.
Love You More Than Chocolate Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing my Love you More Than Chocolate Card using the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set and matching Love You More Than Dies by Stampin’ Up! I have been meaning to play with this set and thought it would be perfect for a Valentine’s Day card!

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided that I wanted to go with Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Real Red for my colour scheme since they reminded me of a box of chocolates.

I love how fun it is to replace the word “Chocolate” with the stamped image of the chocolates. Giving the receiver a subtle hint of what the card is all about. And just in case they miss that, I stamped in Early Expresso the word Chocolate and the outline of the chocolates on the Crumb Cake piece. For the stamped chocolates on the Basic White Card Stock, I used two-step stamping before die cutting them to create depth and dimension with Early Espresso for the outline and Crumb Cake for the silhouette.

To tie in the Real Red Designer Series Paper from the Regals Pack, I used Real Red for my hearts and Red Rhinestones to add sparkle. The stitched hearts were from the Give It a Whirl Dies. A favourite of mine for those little accents!

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Nothing’s Better Than (158295), Love You More Than Dies (152698), Give It a Whirl Dies (154336), Stitched Rectangles Dies (151820)

Paper: Early Espresso (119686), Basic White (159276), Crumb Cake (120953), Real Red (102482), Regals 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (155227)

My Viking Love Valentine Card

A Viking Girl surrounded by hearts
Viking Love Valentine Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Viking Love Valentine Card using the Brave Vikings Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! My Hubby loves history and especially Vikings! He even has a Viking outfit with sword tor Society for Creative Anachronisms events. So, it was a given that I would get this stamp set as soon as I saw it.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I decided to use the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper that you can get for free with a qualifying hostess party. This paper is awesome! It has so many patterns for different occasions and seasons, and you get 48 sheets (4 each of 12 double-sided designs)! The colourful hearts are perfect for a Valentine card and the diagonal stripe paper matches those colours perfectly!

I used the Heart Punch Pack to punch out my DSP and matching scallop hearts. The little Poppy Parade stitched hearts are from the Give It a Whirl Dies. I scattered the hearts willy-nilly to mirror to the whimsey of the Stitched with Whimsey Die on the Basic White.

Once I stamped the Viking girl in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I pulled out my Stampin’ Blends to colour her using the colours pulled from the DSP. I then fussy cut her out. I placed her on the card so that she is pointing at the sentiment like she is saying the words. A scattering of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels adds a bit of sparkle to the card.

Supplies:

Stamps/Bundles/Dies: Brave Vikings (157926), Stitched with Whimsey Dies (155314), Give It a Whirl Dies (154336)

Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (132708)

My “Party On!” Card

A Birthday Shaker Card
My Party On Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My “Party On!” Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card using Party Princess Ellie by Paper Nest Dolls.

This past weekend Paper Nest Dolls turned 9 and reached over 6,000 members on their Facebook Group! Congratulations Paper Nest Dolls! Party Princess Ellie was a digital stamp that was given away for free to all attendees, but you can still get her until this Friday, Jan 21, 2022! Here is the link to the post on the PND Inspiration Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=4758734684247076&set=gm.3166875813548826.

Details of My Card

I am planning to give this card to my niece whose birthday is coming up. So, I coloured Ellie with my Copic markers to match her colouring and the Doodlebug paper. Don’t you just love the kitties with the balloons on the side panels!

For my card, I decided that I wanted to create a fun fold called a free-standing triple panel shaker card! Say that three time fast! Lol! I also wanted to use some balloon dies that I thought would be perfect for a birthday card and go along with Ellie’s heart balloon. The Balloon dies are to make a pop-up window, but I thought a shaker card would be a fun interactive element instead!

My Peachy Keen Birthday Card

A Birthday Card with Peaches on it.
Peachy Keen Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Laurie here again! I am sharing My Peachy Keen Birthday Card using the Sweet As a Peach Bundle which includes the Sweet As a Peach Stamp Set and the matching Peach Dies.

The Details of My Card

For my card, I love the colours of the pretty You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper and decided that I wanted to pair it with the Picture This Dies.

For the sentiment, I positioned the die cut Calypsol Coral piece, without adhering it, on the card base and stamped the sentiment directly onto the Thick Basic White card base. Next, I popped up the Calypso Coral card stock with dimensionals onto the card base. I then used liquid adhesive on the DSP shifting them into place to allow them to peek through the two of the openings. For the Balmy Blue sentiment, I white embossed it with my heat gun to make it pop.

I decide that I wanted the Pear Pizzazz leaves to be exploding from the Picture This Dies frame onto the sentiment with the stamped peaches layered on top.

For the peaches, I used a technique where you use a sponge dauber to add a second colour to your stamps and create dimension. I stamped the peaches from the Sweet as a Peach stamp set twice. The top three are in Pale Papaya. The bottom three are Pale Papaya with Calypso Coral daubed on the edges after inking them with the Pale Papaya. What a difference it makes!

My Let’s Go A-Viking Card

A card with a Viking on it.
My Let’s Go a Viking Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I was so excited to have been asked to present at the Paper Nest Dolls’ New Year’s Day Party this past weekend! So, I am sharing My Let’s Go A-Viking Card that I coloured and created for this event! It is using the stamp created exclusively by Paper Nest Dolls for the event and is called Viking Tina after our very own Tina Day Goodwin from the PND Design Team!

Details of my Card

I had so much fun colouring with my Copic markers this cutie in what my Hubby called “Viking colours”! Lol!

For my card, I decided that I wanted to create a Norwegian fjord vignette as a backdrop for my Viking Tina. So, I pulled out my Distressed Oxide Inks and Blending tools to create the Aurora Borealis night sky. I love the “wooden” Viking ship by Stamp AnnieThing poking out of the green frame! A couple of mountains and a water die completed my vignette. Going on a cruise to see the fjords and the aurora borealis are on my bucket list.

The P13 paper was perfect for my Norwegian theme and matched my Viking colour scheme! To add to the rustic feel, I added some recycled carboard, a rustic star and small wooden stars. A scattering of red rhinestones tied in the red of Viking Tina’s dress.

My Wintery Birthday Wishes Card

A winter card with a girl holding a penguin
Wintery Birthday Wishes Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Happy New Year! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing My Wintery Birthday Wishes Card as my first 2022 Design Team Inspiration Card for Conie Fong Art & Design using the sweet Emily with Penguin. She comes with 6 stamps including a choice of curly hair or braids and 2 sentiments that consist of Believe in the magic of Christmas and Sending Christmas Joy in PNG and JPG.

Details of My Card

For my card, Emily comes with Christmas sentiments, but I thought she would make a sweet winter birthday card! I have six birthdays, including mine, this month alone! So, I needed to get busy making birthday cards!

I love the soft pastel colours of the Doodlebug paper! So, I used that beautiful palette to colour the digital stamp with my Copic marker. The large Wonderful Snowflake has a beautiful iridescent foil card stock look to it. Once I punched out the large snowflake, I used the leftover scraps of the foil card stock to die cut my smaller snowflakes to match it. By adding a few rhinestones to the centre of the snowflakes, I created even more shimmer. Aren’t those mittens just the cutest! Perfect for a winter card! And to add a bit of sparkle to them, I added some embellishments that look like snowflakes! Finally, I couldn’t resist using Stickles to Emily’s trim on her hat for even more sparkle! A birthday sentiment was all the card needed!

Christmas Means More

My Design Team Card with a Grinch hand reaching for an ornament and Cindy Lou Who
Christmas Means More Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! I am sharing my Christmas Means More as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the digital stamp called Avery with Christmas Plushie

When I saw this cutie, I knew that I had to make a card for her! My hubby and I watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas every year for Christmas. My hubby cheers for the Grinch to win and I cheer for Cindy Lou Who! You would never guess who wins! Lol!

Details of my Card

For my slimline card, I used my Copic markers to colour her with the movie version as my inspiration. I had so much fun colouring her, especially that hair, and her cute plushie!

I had this retired Stampin’ Up! sentiment that I knew would be perfect for my card and decided to create an ornament from it. Once I had die cut my stitched circle dies and layered them, I added ribbon and a gold jingle bell to it to make it look like an ornament. What’s more festive than the sound of jingle bells!

The Grinch’s hand was created from a Stampin’ Up! die that is an aloe vera plant. It looks so much like his gnarly hand! The white cuff was from a scallop circle die where I only used a small part on a scrap piece of white card stock. His arm was another piece of scrap that I cut to fit my card.

Since my card is based on the movie, I pulled out my slimline film strip die to layer behind her and my elements. I found the most perfect Grinchiest paper on Etsy for the openings of my film die! A couple of red rhinestone on the ornament and scattered around, add a touch of sparkle!

Tombstone Treat Boxes

Decorated Treat boxes for Halloween
My Tombstone Treat Boxes

Happy Halloween Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Today I am sharing My Tombstone Treat Boxes as my Design Team Inspiration for Paper Nest Dolls using Ragdoll Sally.

I had a lot of fun colouring this cutie with my Copic Markers! In fact, I coloured her skin in three different tones. So, I created a poll in The Paper Nest Dolls Inspiration Facebook Group on which skin tone was the most popular. The most popular green skin tone was used to create a card (Link to it here), but I couldn’t resist colouring the other two to create my treat boxes.

My Coloured Digital Stamps
My Coloured Ragdoll Sallys

Since it’s Halloween what better way to celebrate with treat boxes to give out to all those cute trick-or-treaters! The Stampin’ Up! Tombstone Treat Boxes were so fun to decorate with lots of little bits from my stash! And the finishing touch was my coloured Ragdoll Sallys!

Birthday Slimline Shaker Card

My Design Team Card
Birthday Slimline Shaker Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Today I am sharing My Birthday Slimline Shaker Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the Ragdoll Sally. Every year, my Hubby and I watch Nightmare Before Christmas for Halloween. It’s also my Hubby’s birthday on Thursday and I thought a birthday card with Ragdoll Sally would be perfect for him.

I had a lot of fun colouring this cutie with my Copic Markers! In fact, I coloured her skin in three different tones. So, I created a poll in The Paper Nest Dolls Inspiration Facebook Group on which skin tone was the most popular. It turned out that the green skin tone was the winner. So, I used her for my card.

Of course, I also coloured the others and created Halloween treat boxes with them which I plan to share later this week.

My Card Details

For my card, I decided to create not only a slimline card, but a shaker card with glow in the dark moons! So fun! I know my Hubby will get a kick out of it! I found this cool graphic on Etsy for Nightmare Before Christmas. So, I used my Silhouette Cameo to tweak it to fit my shape and then die cut it out. The moon paper was 6” x 6”, but since I only needed it for the top half of my card, I trimmed it down to fit.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was printed out on my computer using Word and the Viner Hand ITC font. I created a collage of different items around the sentiment including the glittery spider web and spider trinket. Don’t you love the pop of green that the mesh created at the bottom of the card to mirror her skin and the Lavinia moon paper!

My Perfectly Wicked Interactive Card

Perfectly Wicked Sentiment
My Perfectly Wicked Interactive Card

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Laurie here! Today I am sharing My Perfectly Wicked Interactive Card as my Design Team Inspiration Card for Paper Nest Dolls using the Evil Fairy.

I was honoured to have been asked to present at the Paper Nest Dolls’ Party with the Villains Virtual Weekend Retreat that was this past weekend. I had so much fun creating my cards for the event that I made an extra one that I thought I would share with you today. The other cards that I presented at the Retreat will be posted at the end of this post.

To get in the mood and for inspiration, I just had to watch the movies both the live action and the cartoon! Any excuse to watch Disney is a good excuse in my books! Lol!

Video of my Card in Action

Movie of My Perfectly Wicked Interactive Card

For this card, I coloured the Evil Fairy with my Copic Markers to match the Disney cartoon. I have been wanting to use the Give a Whirl Dies from Stampin’ Up! and thought it would be perfect for my card! It is so fun to spin that little dial and see all the fun sentiments! These sentiments… “Perfectly Wicked!” and “Bad Girls Have More Fun!” …were created in Word. I added one of the digital papers behind them to blend in with the paper that I used on my card base. Since the Evil Fairy turns into a dragon at the end of the movie, I couldn’t resist adding a bright green dragon with a dusting of Black Soot on its edges. A castle and a few stars that were brushed with the Aged Brass were the only other elements that I added to my card.
